being?

i cant see it doing anything better than an ordinary concealed carry pistol. OK, it has a stock for steadier aiming but if you need to defend yourself you wont want to flip the gun open, shoulder it and aim when you could just draw a concealed carry pistol and fire instinctively. this just makes a glock unnecessarily bulky for no good reason IMO.

Private or personal security in places/at times when you cannot have a visible firearm, or even an object that looks like a firearm.

The mail man's going to be sorry if my check aint in the mail on time.

Mail Man: Hey how's it going?

Guy with FMG: Not much just looking for those checks, see any with my name on them?

Mail Man: Nope sorry Sir.

i can see an application for real steel. when you want to carry a concealed firearm but dont want to let anybody know its a gun if they accidentally see it. i know of people that are so deathly afraid of guns that they feel unsafe around cops. my dad (a police officer) was in a situation where a person had the audacity to ask him to remove his sidearm so her friend could shop comfortably. he was working an extra job as a guard in a coat store during a fur coat sale.

so, knowing some people will freak out if anybody around them has a gun, you can get this so your gun doesn't look like a gun if people like that accidentally see it.

for airsoft, it could be used in hostage situations under the right rules. i played a game where i was caught alone and was taken hostage (if the enemy team returned me to the out zone they would score 30 points instead of 10 if i was eliminated regularly) and the rules were that they could only take the guns they knew i had. so, if i had one of these in my pocket during the pat down and they thought it was just a piece of gear they couldn't take it and when they escorted me to the out zone (a one person escort which is also the guy who has my guns to leave in the out zone) i could have wiped it out and shot him and took off.

or, id just have one cause its coolz.

Isnt that the same vidio on the 1st page?

Also if magpul has no rights to it how did this company get the only one magpul have if its a concept idea?

or perhaps just designed/stolen from scratch/vidios.

Because it was invented by Eugene Stoner in the 80's?

While a "folding machine pistol" isn't Magpul's exclusive right to build, this particular IP is theirs. Magpul PTS is not involved with this replica. The replica is a conversion kit that allows the user to place a KSC or TM Glock inside it and simulate the original Magpul design, but does not have the folding grip features of the original and as a result will be dimensionally different than the real deal. Magpul PTS' version will be compatible with KSC/KWA standard and extended magazines and will feature the same design as the original Magpul concept gun (folding grip, accurate dimensions, etc etc).

Magpul "said" they have no intention of putting this into production. Apparently it was just a show of their engineering finesse, as some guy designed it on a long plane flight. And now its a hot item

But, if somebody figured out how to design one of these things, what happens if someone creates one of his own and shoves a real glock into it? Perhaps Magpul's design will have unintended consequences...

It's a glock with a stock, already exists. And if someone wanted to make one just like that, they'd need a lot of technical expertise and a whole machine/fabrication shop that's state of the art, something that few people besides magpul and other real-steel manufacturers have.

But boy what I would give to have an airsoft one, that'd make my rig complete!

While Magpul USA has said they don't plan on putting it into production, Magpul PTS has been given the go ahead and is in preproduction on getting these made for airsoft. The Magpul PTS catalog even has it listed.

.... and being PTS I would expect it to come out sometime after the next olympics.

What makes you say that the clone doesn't have the folding grip feature?

For airsoft? Maybe not your typical hose-em-down scenarios. But I could think of a couple, one of which would mean having to smuggle a weapon into a secured area to clear an objective ala Hitman. Then there's the paranoid schizophrenic office worker who always comes prepared with his lunchbox 9mm in case some nut decides to storm the place one day.

edit:

Just thought of a third; air marshal. Some freaks hijack a plane and its up to the air marshal with his cleverly concealed weapon to end it all.

How could someone from magpul design this "unique" item on a plane when it was designed in the 80s ? I think they meant to say "redid" (cloned) someone elses concept, or redefined (cloned) Stoners gun in a box, because it certainly isn't original just sleeker than the ORIGINAL.

I'll buy this and use it.

Oh, the noes!! He's not tacticool and can draw his pistol within a split of a second :o As for sights, I dont use them anyway.

Coolness is all. And this piece has tons of it.

Really? Since when was coolness a factor in airsoft? :o

Just behold these wise words:

Lol at the idea of people wandering around skirmish sites carrying one of these.

meh. never really saw the point of these in real life let alone airsoft

I don't see the point either.

Clearly airsoft is all about hitting your targets by means of the most generic tools possible, God forbid we see anything not resembling and M4 or a virgin, unspoiled Glock (preferably without rail, grrr) on the playing fields. As a skirmisher, clearly your life doesn't depend on the ability to collapse your airsoft gun into a shape that doesn't resemble a gun from a distance. We skirmishers are indeed a cold, calculated bunch that wouldn't waste our precious time on mind-boggling things like this. :o

Next thing you know, we'll all be running around with Thunder Mauls, fer chrissakes. :P

they should make these in white with a little apple logo on the front or silver with VAIO and then publicise the hell out of them :)

"Armed police! you there, yes you - step AWAY from the folding maching gun"

Hmm, someone's been playing Perfect Dark?
