trdsupragt
It is indeed. I filled in and painted over the KWA trademarks on the slide, and the frame will come next. I plan on modeling the rear sight to resemble 10-8 rear sights as well.
quiksilver6184
Maybe its just the Metal Gear fan in me, but a threaded barrel, some Bomar sights, and wood grips would look damn sexy on one of those.
hwagan
Phone camera unfortunately, but just picked up a WE Desert Warrior thing; First WE 1911 i've had in over a year - It seems they've re-designed the outer barrel a little to stop the slide jamming on the outer barrel after a bit of wear. Not sure if that's my bad memory or not, but it definitely looks different. On another note, for £85, there's no way this thing should shoot so damn good. I'm hitting the same tree with every round on .3's and GG at about 40 metres... Ridiculous. *edit* Nope, bad memory, the outer barrel/breech assembly is the same. Who cares, for £85 i'll buy another one when it eventually breaks! Edited June 26, 2010 by hwagan
Madcap
Hwagan 1911 is very nice looking modern 1911 i think. Flateric41 and carbacca's 1911 are maybe the sexiest and original looking 1911 ever.
BrooklynBorn
Hwagan- still a gas hog?
trdsupragt
Went to a few hours of work on the rear sight of my Operator. It's not the best job, but I didn't want to rush it, and I used only needle files (well mostly). I wanted it to resemble a Hilton Yam 10-8 Operator. league 4
Are you going to do any finish work to get it smoother looking? I guess a high grit sandpaper would work well...
trdsupragt
I plan to refine it a little more later on down the road. But for now, im quite satisfied that I was able to copy it.
hwagan
Hwagan- still a gas hog? Seems to be; A full mag of gas gets around 30 rounds out, and it's about 26 degrees celcius here at the moment. I can't see it being much use in the winter to be entirely honest, but it's doing very well in the current climate. Kicks like a beast, shoots fantastic and looks really quite nice. In this weather, it's easily capable of dumping a whole 15 round mag very rapidly. Definitely worth it for the money i'd say, just don't use it on a cold day

hwagan
That looks damn nice for a springer! Also, i got bored and chopped up an old rubber finger groove sleeve from a VFG i no longer use... I'm quite pleased with the results;
AnotherJesus
and so you should be. That looks kosher.
hwagan
Cheers dude - Very comfy as well. A friend of mine has 4 WE 1911 mags from his old one that broke, so i'm very, very tempted to use it as my primary weapon on sunday. Accuracy and consistency really is amazing. groundhog-shooters
Hey i´m planing on buying a socom gear desert combat elite but i´m an active player and wonder about the cooldown. Can i shoot a complete mag with slidelock empty?
hwagan
In the winter, not a chance - Socomgears are rebranded/tweaked WE's, and they're notorious for being useless in cold weather... Fantastic for summer, but about as much use as a platinum fish in the colder months unfortunately
groundhog-shooters
Okay thanks for the answer ;-) I think i will go back to KSC/ KWA.
hwagan
SocomGear/WE's are fine in the summer - In the current british weather, i'm getting 35 or so full powered shots from a single stack 1911 mag. However, in the winter, that drops to about 3 before the thing just stops playing ball. It shoots on par with a TM 1911, but the obvious issue is the cooldown in colder temperatures. Anything System 7/NS2 is a much better choice for all year use - My SigPro 2022, even with a metal slide, gets a full magazine out in the depths of winter.
oRb
Yeah I must admit the KSC S7 1911 are really great. On par with TM just Fullmetal and all the realistic Markings! Just great for 150~USD.
RacingManiac
Anyone makes any metal barrel for the KSC S7 1911? I'd really like to get one and kept as a classic style piece but the plastic outer barrel is a turn off....
oRb
I have two Fullmetal KSC 1911A1 GBBs and I don't miss any steel barrel at all. I had Fullmetal WA's before and now with the KSC I don't miss a single thing of the WAs... They even made for skirmish what WA isn't. RacingManiac! Better buy a fullmetal KSC 1911 S7 for 150 bucks... from the price it doesn't make much sense to just buy metal slide. Regards orb Edited June 29, 2010 by oRb
vengecore
Maybe its just the Metal Gear fan in me, but a threaded barrel, some Bomar sights, and wood grips would look damn sexy on one of those. I agree completely, I have asked the threaded barrel question on KWAUSA forums and they have no plans of producing a threaded barrel for the 1911s. Until one comes around, I'll hold off and keep my WE-tech Custom Operator. also the hicapa slide and conical barrel are all wrong too! The NEW KWA's are, however, really nice. Short Stack
One of those new MARK pistols have a threaded barrel and rail. Might be picking one up.
doc_SAS
One of those new MARK pistols have a threaded barrel and rail. Might be picking one up. None of them have threaded barrels. Some of them have rails, though. -Jake
