Treadhead
Well a diesel can operate fully submerged providing it's got an air supply... Perhaps air was ducted in from inside the car itself?
askeytheman
*Finds his copy of Jan-Feb '09 "Globe and Laurel"* Right.. 1st Assault Group RM, 11 (ATT) Sqn did it. They had to water proof the entire car, and build a custom ramp from the assault craft- the original led to the car fouling in the sand. The RM engineers used 5 fiestas, one of which was custom built for them after their techs got it all right- waterproofing a standard ignition is harder than the diesel engined landys.. Also took them five takes to get all the footage they needed. (And thats ripped from two pages of small text, so theres a fair bit missing..)
