rottenotto Posted January 23, 2009 Report Share Posted January 23, 2009 My WE charging handle snapped off ..was that the second/reinforced version? There is no second reinforced version. As per emails with William, there is only one charging handle and apparently ALL will break eventually. So this I what I did. I cut a small square of steel, the same dimensions as the raised portion on the WE charging handle hook. I used an old Stanley steel door hinge. It was EXACTLY the same thickness. I stripped the cad plating on the adhesive side, and roughened the surface with a dremel scribing bit. I roughend the charging handle surface the same way (for good bite and adhesion) I used JB weld and stuck it right on there. Its solid. It now functions just like the original with no chance of breaking. How long will the JB Weld last? Who knows. Somebody really SHOULD make a CNC or steel charging handle, I mean c'mon! They make REAL STEEL charging handles for Marui electrics that are merely DECORATION! This handle really should be steel WE. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
slu Posted January 23, 2009 Report Share Posted January 23, 2009 (edited) This thing would really be golden with the right amount of aftermarket support (as opposed to, well, nonexistent aftermarket support). I only say this because I don't expect WE to step up. They had a great chance to fix the charging handle when they did the Ver. 2. If WE indeed got some higher volume customers (like Spain), maybe they'll do something when those customers find all their charging handles and o-rings broken after a few thousand rounds. To Tom Andrews and Magsz, Im not sure I follow your comments - who said we were using "steel" charging handles? Milspec doesnt mean "steel". Its forged aluminum. I covered this fact in a post a couple pages back. (Real Steel handles are indeed aluminum - steel is a "luxury" item) "WE" needs to offer a CNC piece or better yet WHY isnt Intruder Shop/Guarder all over this one. Cephas Posted January 24, 2009 Report Share Posted January 24, 2009 Well I got my new power tune up kit because my previous nozzle stripped itself from the steel rod in the bolt carrier. I put it in today, I noticed Airsoftbuddy put locktite around it this time, so I figured this will work now. 5 minutes into my first game the nozzle strips again. The gun fires but the nozzle isn't loading anything. I checked and my new blowback unit has stripped again. The brass nozzle is too soft for the steel rod in the bolt so after a few hundred shots it strips. This has happen to me twice now and I think that WE should address this. Anyone else has this issue? Cephas Posted January 25, 2009 Report Share Posted January 25, 2009 I think I figured it out. The rubber sleeve inside chamber was really tight. So I sanded down the nozzle a bit at the tip, works a lot smoother now. Put some JB weld on the steel rod and nozzle. Now let's see how long it holds up. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Pls remember if you do not purchase the "WETTI/AFC-custom version" of the gun, you only get a baked-on finish body with no extra barrel!! Please... I started reading this page but haven't read all 101 pages. I have read some from the beginning of the thread, the middle, and the end. The middle everyone like the WE and thought it was great, but near the end here, it seems like its nothing but problems for the gun. I'm not real good with GBBs and so I doubt I could do much if I had problems. So would this gun be something I should be thinking of buying or should I take my money else where? Just an update, my charging handle just broke. I have to order a new one now lol. I hope those at the company are paying attention to this. Make better quality aluminium charging handles. I also fired my gun yesterday with .30's. Wow...what a difference. Not only did I still have a huge range from each shot, it was about as accurate as the tightbored aeg's out there. I was getting a bit more range than them though. When the tune up kit comes in, Im pretty sure it is going to dead-line my shots. I cant wait. I just...need a new charging handle now lol. Nothing but problems? I guess you need to read more carefully? If you want nothing but problems head over to the WA M4 thread where every last part of the gun has to be upgraded/replaced/tweaked to work properly. Look below...Heres the Western Arms loading nozzle after half a bag of bb's. Yeah, you need to take it all part and replace these parts every 1500 rounds or less. (BTW the WE has a brass loading nozzle like an Escort gun) Its the same problems on the WE - whether its the early adopters who got the first version - or the guys just buying one lately (me for instance). Junk charging handle that WILL break eventually ($9.00 part) #122 seal that wears out eventually. (10 for $5.00) And one or two people who had problems with the valves coming apart/breaking/etc. A $17.00 assembly that drops right in. That is it. If you want to discuss "this vs that" just PM me. I will only say this,...my experience with Escort/SHOEI's was horrible. The MP44's wouldnt even fire a single bb out of the box. And there was only ONE person who worked on them and he was both slow and arrogant. I wasted so much time money with those guns and they are in my "top 5 airsoft disappointments"..... I am pretty sure that almost EVERY one that had issues with the WA used Green gas or propane. WE is designed to withstand greengas/propane but WA is not. I think people tend to forget that sometimes when they compare these two. ----------- HFC134 (aka HFC134a) is the weaker of two propellants used in Airsoft gas guns. The other, HFC22, is considerably more powerful. A particularly confusing aspect of this is that both are known as "Green Gas", though HFC22 is more commonly know by that name. Many beginning airsofters confuse the two types of gasses, and use HFC22 gas a a gun meant for HFC134. The rule of thumb is if your gun has a metal slide, you can use HFC22. Typically, Taiwanese GBB airsoft guns (such as KWC and KJW) use HFC22, while the Japanese (Tokyo Marui, Western Arms) use HFC134.
