WE Gas Blow Back M4A1 Carbine

Recommended Posts

I have been considering buying this gun for months now, only thing holding me back is the money.

I really have to stretch my budget.

So i'm on the verge of buying one now,

but i was wondering if it is a good investment at this time.

I saw a post from WETTI having some more upgrades, eg steel hammer & upgraded bolt stop.

Should I wait for a new version to be released, or is it not worth the wait.

Thanks.

You know that there's a topic search integrated in this board?

Bottom left of the last post, klicketyklick, MK18

First Post in this list by Kai Wolf:

Im not sure if it is the same one, all I know is that the one my friend got was from EB, and we were testing it out. But the nut should work. Be warned however, that some DD mk18 replicas require you to modify the inside of the rail itself to fit around the outer barrel. The one I tested on mine fit without that mod. The EB one for sure will fit with the RS DD nut.

You're welcome!

WETTI: Earlier AR15-era bodies and conversion kits would be very welcome as well as pre-made Vietnam War-era XM177E1 and M16A1 rifles (a lot of airsoft re-enactors like myself would love to have these guns). PGC is supposed to manufacture 20-round sized magazines as well as 30 round mags (that hold 50 bb's) and they would be appropriate for the era.

All noted. ;)

Thanks WETTI, I'll try mailing Socom Gear.

Sweet news on that new bho lever. And about the lever, mine seems to have killed itself while I was overly fascinated about its function, and no more than a day old to boot. I found that the lever engaged against the bolt with such little area that both surfaces eventually became rounded and would slip, failing to catch on empty unless I physically pull the lever outwards. The parts are small so my camera wouldn't help, though I did sketch up almost exactly how little the two parts met. Was wondering if this part failure happened to anyone else.

The area shaded in red is only about 1.5~2 square mm. I've already gone and fixed this by welding the lever and building it up so that a whole lot more material would come into contact. Its working great for now, but I'd still buy that aftermarket lever to be sure.

That is EXACT the issue the wider T.S. Custom magazine bolt catch lever is addressing!! Pls see below pic which shows the VERY even wear (signifying a much larger contact patch at that particular area) after using the T.S. Custom part.

The T.S. Custom magazine bolt catch lever will be available as soon as next week in packs of 3's. I'll have more info. for everyone when I receive more news from them. :P

Socom Gear replied.

"Hi chucky

There are some info that is our trade secret. But our n4 is the same as we m4. (Ver 2)

Thanks

Socomgear"

I have no idea what that means.

If I were you, I would ask them directly if their receivers are anodized or painted. There you'll have a very clear-cut answer to your concern.

Pls note: The 'upgrades' I posted are NOT upgrades from WE; these are 3-rd party after-market improvement parts made for our gun. I was asked by the manufacturer to test these parts to see if they're compatible with our rifle, & they want our official endorsement on these parts. They worked great & I am very excited about these, therefore I've decide to post them here for all to share. I was told that these parts will be released for sale as soon as next week.

All-in-all, our 'pro series' (WETTI-AFC Custom) version 2 of the WE AWSS M4 is already shipping & most of the major bugs are fixed (YES, even the charging handle issue has been addressed!).

That sounds great and very promising.

Is there any news about the v3 version?

I would probably most likely be purchasing AFC version from AB (I live in the US) and i believe he is the cheapest, unless anyone has any other suggestions.

Are the WETT-AFC Custom (AWSS) the same rifle as the AFC from AB or even more upgraded?

did you hear me?

the version 3 one will have a steel nozzle and redesigned hop up. thats all i've heard of so far.

Yeah i did read about the v3 but i just didn't know when they were to be released.

Do you think when/if they redesign their hopup, it could be a dropin replacement on the older v2/v1 guns as well?

I see absolutely no need for a steel feed nozzle.

It was brass in my Escort guns and that was always good enough. Never had a single issue related to that.

A new hop up design? Yes.

If the nozzle is made from hardened steel alloy like the steel on the XYT gears then yeah all good, not the powdered steel casts from the old Systema gears. I have heard that in HK some of the nozzles have deformed (I dunno how that could actually), perhaps someone put in a 150% spring into the buffer tube.

The part that I am most concerned is Part 42, that should be steel, and should have 4 prongs instead of 2. The low powered version of Part 42 is not worth while to install as that would take the whole point of having a 30 round M4, the power is to be high enough for rounds to count :P The reason for the break is really the prongs are too thin, and its attached to bugger all material near the O-ring, and sideway forces (from the returning valve) causes the part to fracture at the corner.

The hop up, yes, well, we will see how WE has improved :) V2 is pretty good at the moment, with the firing pin fix, and the forward assist fixed, receiver casting fix.

Diemaco L119A1 SFW kits or ready-made carbiens would make just about one out of three UK kitter cream their pants. The rest would be had if you could make a GBB L85A2, but that market is probably saturated at the moment with the AEGs.

+1 .... x 10^666.

L119A1 lower (and upper) would really be incredibly sweet.

WETTI: please let me know if you want pictures of the L119A1 markings ^_^

WETTI How about a black tube instead of a brass one? You are losing lots of sales to the G&P and WA system because of the big brass tube in the charging handle area. Find a way to permanetly make it black or something as thats seriously what caused me to not buy one. (I didnt buy the WA or G&P one yet either) Other than that, honestly, an M16 would be amazing.

P-Mag... I think I need to use the restroom, thats too much win.

I agree. Even though I like the brass coloring (looks like a spent casing), 2 of my friends opted for the WA just because of the brass...

Opinions vary.

When the WE M4 was given to law enforcement as a trainer (for evaluation) one commented that the brass cylinder looked like bullets being loaded into the chamber, when the toy was being fired in full auto.

And so it stayed (the brass cylinder showing through the ejection port).

(And there is no way possible to make it black anyway - any "treatment" would be worn off in minutes of use.)

A steel nozzle would be welcomed upgrade for me. Twice my brass nozzle has stripped itself from the recipricating steel rod. The rubber sleeve would grip the tip of the brass nozzle too tight thus causing it to strip. While this is not a common problem I know I'm not the only one that has experienced this. So steel being being the stronger material would have held up better as a nozzle for those experiencing this issue.

I have remedied this issue by decreasing the nozzle tip diameter.
