WE Gas Blow Back M4A1 Carbine

Recommended Posts

Very cool. Thank you for taking the time to snap some pics off.

Does anyone know if the Magpul PTS PMags fit and lock into the mag well?

I'm thinking if they do, it wouldn't be very hard to pick up a box of the STAR realcaps and basically skin the WE mags with the Pmag casing. Just an idea I had floating in my head.....

Having never taken apart a real AR-15 mag recently I cant trell you if this would work but I had the same idea when I saw the pics. IT wouldnt be that hard to buy REAL P-mags (which are cheaper then the airsoft ones btw) and using those instead. My guess is probably not though because of the way the innards mount into the standard AR mag. It would be awesome if they did though!

Just a note...

1.) RS Pmags are pretty hard to find in stock or less than a month waiting list.

2.) Make sure they are LEGAL to own in your state, as there are a few that restrict them to due capacity issues. Cali I'm looking at you.

3.) If my 20x RS pmags ever show up I'll gut one for you guys to see if it fits.

Yeah RS 30 round Pmags are out of the question as I live in NJ.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents... ;)

I can't see that any of these are any kind of show stoppers or that they really affect on the field. Besides the crappy bolt stop in these early models, there doesn't seem to be a single issue that you cannot fix yourself with just small amount of sanding, lubing, filing, taping and using some glue or o-rings to do the job. I admit, it's annoying you have to do such things to a new product. But for its price it's not that a big deal and personally the only fix I've had to do to my gun is the barrel alignment fix. Everything else is working just fine. And no double feeds so far. But I've shot just about half as many bb's as you have. The firing pin issue has happened twice, but it has not been that annoying that I would have put my 5 minutes of sanding and filing into it. Not yet, anyway. Can anyone say the same about the WA? The amount of money you need to throw into third party parts seems ridiculous, if you want it to be even "semi-reliable" gun. Which is just about the best it can offer.

Hopup might be too high for 0.25g and lighter bb's, but is rather fine for 0.28g and heavier. And for this power I see no real reason to use such a light bb's.

Firing pin issue seems annoying and has happened to me too, but has it occured during the game? Only time I've personally experienced it or has heard anyone else experiencing it, has occured just after racking the handle manually. So that happening during fast reloads on the field is yet to be confirmed(?). Just make sure your gun fires before starting the game then you should be fine...

I have bought a wa m4 since last 2 week. You know what, I haven't bring it to skirmish.. because it is completely not skirmishable.. Always get double feeding of bb... And eventually, the loading nozzle (plastic) broken down..

I couln't agree more with you.. I'm very frustated with this WA m4.. I've spend alot of my hard earned money.. Or I could say, I has gone far beyond my available bugdet just trying to get it skirmishable.. You can imagine, for starting, anyone who is interested with the wa m4, might first planning to raise a fund in order to purchase.. That may took some time. When you get enough budget, you will get one. But just right after it is OOTB, you are gonna need 3 or 4 spare mag.. another $300-$400 (comparison 1 handgun $100-$150). After 400-500 round of shot, bolt stop issue arise ($30-$40). Along with that, the plastic hopup certainly need to be replaced with metal that is $40-$50. Hell.. that is alot of money.... Then again you wait to raise the fund.. When it is enough, all parts is installed, still... you will have to fix the double feeding problem. On my source, which is the place where i buy this toy gun, says that, double feeding is like an attitude of wa m4. You cannot seperate that, especially when cooling down happens.. Oh God,... i'm terribly frustated, considering, i've been raising alot of fund, but it has not solve the problem (still not skirmish able)..

I do envy people who didn't purchase WA but instead of WE. They should be gratefull for not getting a WA.. but WE even with minor issues... Now my WA M4 is just not more than a wall hanger only... Feels nothing great or awesome with it anymore, even it still deliver a good blowback power.. And I'm not proud for having it.. For me It is more like a piece of cash sucking machine...

Got Jin's old one today...and I gotta say other than the mag leaking, and the hammer not cocking when the gas handle is pulled back the thing is bad *albatross*.

Was shooting with I guess the shorter barrel between 410 and 440 fps with .2g

That is insane. The capability & quality of it kicks WA square in the nuts.

So...Airsoft Buddy...I really really really need one of the FPS reducer kits you guys are getting badly. Once you get them I'll be ordering some mags along with that :)

i haven't had any problems with mine....have you been oiling all the valves and o rings?

I just got it from Jin in the mail today.

Besides that, you still can't retape from the looks of it any of the seals other than the spine that opens up the air cavity.

1.) Don't pull your mags apart to remove the gas chamber spine...doesn't seem it'll see back up properly ever again.

2.) I think these mags actually suck more than the WA at this point :/

Hey guys! I will be using my CQ/T sight on this M4 once I get it, but beacuse there is slight eye relief, Im afraid that the stock M4 front sight will interfer, so I want to install a folding front sight. Will the Dboys front folding sight (for AEG's) work on the we M4?

http://ebaybanned.com/product_info.php?cPa...roducts_id=1026

Also, I plan on buying the KAC Ris system (the one that Lupus put on his). Will this accomodate a gas tube? Also, was there any rotation present in the RIS?

I saw the front sight Evil put on, I just wanted to make sure this would fit since the Samurai one is also (I think) designed for AEG use.

I don't know if I should be worried or not but I ordered one of these on 11/28 and have yet to get a shipping confirmation or a reply to my emails. I hope all is well at AB and they are simply overwhelmed with orders. Perhaps I am just too anxious to get my new toy. :D

As has been pointed out, RS PMAGs are very hard to come by currently. Even if they weren't, dropping the WE innards into them may not be that simple. Looking at the bottom of the WE mag, you can see that the innards are attached to the outer shell by bolting the innards to a metal bracket on the inside of the outer shell.* That inner bracket is not present on a real mag/PMAG. One way around that may be to get a longer screw (with the same threading (probably metric)), drill a hole through the PMAG base plate or PMAG Ranger Plate and install the screw through the new hole and into the innards locking them in place.

* As evidenced by these pics of cocofr69's:

http://www.imagefreehost.com/files/1911200...3076557848.jpeg

http://www.imagefreehost.com/files/1911200...1349738887.jpeg

http://www.imagefreehost.com/files/1911200...0762570417.jpeg

As for using the STAR PMAGs (either the 30 rounders or the new 75 rounders), I fear this may also be a no go. Examining one of those STAR mags recently, it became immediately evident that they were very similar to regular STAR and MAG Mag AR plastic mags. They're essentially two molded halves that are sandwiched together with the inner BB tube/channel designed as part of the outer shell. Unlike most metal mags and the Magpul PTS PMAG midcaps which all have innards that can be slipped out of the outer shell, the STAR PMAG's innards are a part of the outer shell and thus have nothing to be pulled out. So in order to accommodate the WE Mag innards, you'd have to dremel like crazy to remove the built in molded innards to make space.

Instead of the STAR PMAGs, you'd be better off starting with a Magpul PTS PMAG midcap shell. But then you'd have a few problems with that: (1.) Magpul PTS PMAGs are pretty damn expensive. Do you really want to buy them just to gut them for a WE mag? (2.) Just like a RS PMAG, a Magpul PTS PMAG would still have the same problem of locking the WE innards in place as there's no internal bracket... you'd have to get longer screws and drill through the PMAG base plate/ranger plate, and (3.) don't forget that almost all airsoft mags are shorter than their real world counterparts to accommodate the lower headroom inside the magwell due to the hopup & gear box. This means that once you slip the WE mag innards into the airsoft PMAG, there will be a fair amount of the WE innards at the top of the mag that isn't contained within the airsoft shell.

Nope, out of all the PMAG options currently available... you'd be best off starting with a RS PMAG and trying your luck modifying that... except... they're sold out everywhere. <_< But at least now there's a clearer plan of attack! ;)

I must say I think William is watching this board as I just received confirmation that my package has shipped. :D Now I just have to wait for it to arrive. Thanks William

Yeah, the original gas tube fits fine. So does the barrel mounted M203 inside the upper rails. There's been a slight rotation (typical with RIS?), which I'm fixing with the madbull ras fix piece. That should keep the rail in line. I've tested the idea with larger scope risers and they lock on nicely with both the body and ris upper, so that the alignment is just about perfect for it. The rotation wouldn't actually bother me so much if I weren't planning to attach a PEQ2 laser onto it.

poison123: Nice to hear you like the rifle itself. And you're not alone. It's always interesting to hear comments from people who have used the WA. Too bad that your magazine seems busted. From what Jin told earlier, it took a quite beating and he had trouble with it's valves. What is interesting, there's been no leaks in mine after the first moments. And I haven't even opened it up. Just lubed the hammer valve when the magazine has been empty. Currently I keep it partly filled all the time. No hiss and always gas inside when I test it. And a VERY good thing is that they're only one third of the price of WA magazines. Hope you have better luck with new magazines.

Yeah....I've been waiting since early last week for William to respond to my email. Shot him a PM and still haven't heard from him.

I also really want to see pics of the new receiver color...

i think what happened is due to user error, because i have completely disassembled my mag, including the entire gas chamber and the other parts. And reassembled them without any problem what so ever...and the mag is still working like a champ

Maybe, maybe not. Were you able to get at the gas valves when you fully pulled them apart?

Oh ya for when it was working...all I gotta say is the hopup is fine in my opinion. Your shooting a .2g, .25g at a average of 450fps. Those weights weren't intended for that speed. Once the restrictor is released I think they will fly straight and true under 400fps....hopefully close to 350fps for my indoor field.

I don't think this question has been asked before;

How is the trigger pull? Is it instant? or is there a buffer zone?

I've had an escort and that sob had a buffer in the trigger which made pulling off consistent semi shots quite a hassle.

Is the m4 a quick pull trigger release sear and let piston do work kind of thing?

Not sure what you mean by "buffer zone," but on the Escort system the trigger isn't actually a trigger.. it's more like a lever that pushes the main valve.

So instead of having discrete "on or off" the gas release seems to be more of a gradual albeit quick process.

On the WE, the hammer and bolt do all the work, where the trigger releases the hammer... should have been clear from all the pictures of the internals that have been posted...

Well my cocking handle latch/catch broke, Yay!

I have a plastic one I got from a springer in there now, was the only spare I had around. Thank you arnies patrons for informing me NOT to fire the gun without the cocking handle latch else cocking handle breaks.

But yup another part to look at reinforcing :)
