Heres my latest custom job, a WE GBBR version of a Colt Slab Sides Carbine. If anyone knows a pla ce that could machine me a proper outer barrel, I would like to get in contact with them and have a pr

Hehehe, Im with you Hwagan. I dumped my LM4 like a bad habit a few months ago and switched back to the WE platform. Used the extra money to get myself a trademarked M16, slapped a RS A2 upper receiver

my g36 had little movement in between receivers but it barely noticeable.

so, after putting plumbers tape and centering the barrel, my rifle shoots well now. it does curve to the left at the very end but i think wind has something to do with it. but the alternating bb flight is now gone. thanks dan for the tip!

also you guys might be interested with the hop adjutment tool i made.

its just basically an allen end and a handle with a strong spring in between. its now easy for me to jam the tool in the ejector then twist the hop adjustment.

That screwdriver is brilliant. Did you also make a PMAG speedloader?

Airsoft Buddy restocked their magazine conversion kits, and I just received ten of them so it looks I'll be skirmishing with my WE M4 this weekend.

I ordered a couple of extra nozzles and they left customs today but tomorrow is national holiday here so won't be able to test them until next Friday, let's hope that it fixes my auto issue ... although i'm still trying a few ideas of mine on the original nozzle.

The carrier is still being dinged up but after filing it down and giving it a less steep mating angle the "dinging" is much more controlled. I'll still be modding mine though and will bore out the rear section of the carrier and refill it with two custom made "weights" made of aluminium and steel, will also remove material from the "dinged up" area and replace it with a bit of tool grade steel.

It's a pity because in single my M16 performs flawlessly and has so much range ootb, even more than my m14 <_<

And damn ... these open bolt mags are awesome ! Even with the mag completely frozen ( for the lulz i dunked the mag in water and proceeded to shoot with it ) with a 2~3mm outer shell of ice, the damn thing still kept shooting in semi like normal.

just mounted my kit without any issues. just got one converted mag (6 new OB-mags and like 10 conversion kits en route tho ^_^) but nowhere to shoot atm.

Initial reaction is a bit beefier recoil, a bit slower ROF and quite a lot worse when it comes to shots per co2 capsule. it will still hold 30 rounds per co2 cap, so I really cant complain ^_^

however, after converting the magazine I see some wear and tear (right on the edge as pictured below) after dry firing like 3-4 mags, and some extra force to "slam" the mag in there to get it seated;

wemag.jpg

so, it feels like the mag might be a bit seated to high. anyone noticed anything similar?

Yeah i've noticed that too, sort of, you might want to check if your mags are "m4 spec" or "scar spec". The ones made for the SCAR sit a tiny bit higher than the M4 ones because they had an oring beneath the seal.

I forgot about this when i was installing the conversion kits and just noticed it when i began to see "slam" marks on the feeding lips, they were getting slammed against the hopup unit when the carrier was hitting the mag.

thanks! the spring lets you bend the screwdriver around so all i have to do now is to pull on the charging handle then stick the tool in. and yes thats a 20rd pmag speedloader, holds about 340bbs.

my ob m4 still curves to the left but only at the very end of the flight. i swapped the hop rubber from my g36 which shoots straight and the curving is still present.

also i got my kit from AB and when i opened the box up the silver shim for the receiver is bent oval. also the tip of my loading nozzle got dented probably the other loose parts pressed on it while it was in transit. WE shouldve used bubble wrap or foam in between the parts so it wont touch each other. or atleast put a sticker that says "fragile".

my mag lips gets scratched cause the feedramp of the hop assembly has a sharp edge. been thinking if i have to smoothen that edge or just let it be.

The packaging was really awful--the box was so flimsy that everything spilled into the shipping bag but luckily the only result was some chipped paint on the bolt. My mag lips are also taking damage from the chamber, and the hop rubber came with a tear right in the mound. Plus the lockback doesn't work. There may not be a brass tube but you can still tell it's a WE.

I forgot that I only had three working green gas mags (and eight that leak from the top valve). Think I'll be alright using CO2 mags in the Southern California summer, or am I inviting more destruction?

There are only scar mags for CB, and then only thing different is a o-ring under the rubber, just chuck it when upgrading to OB, and I have seen a lot of left over molding on that piece just below the red mark, so make sure to clean the part and get a good fit before assembly.

G&P eotech 552 fine on G39 for a thousand rounds or so, had it on my OB M4 for about 700rds now (which kicks harder than my G39 did, probably the temperature - I had the g39 in winter) and its still fine. Depends entirely on the optics of course, but this one's great :)

jk: the magazines had no o-rings on delivery so there are none to be removed. trust me when I say it's not that. ;D

There is no visible molding excess, but i just took a scalpel and removed a small amount of plastic and no more visible scuff marks.

I still haven't tried shooting BBs with the damn thing yet so everything might just be fine when it comes to actual performace, it was just dome minor reflection made when emptying a lot of co2 capsules, the fun way ^_^

was able to use my ob m4 last weekend. hop is pretty hard to set it either over hops or does not get any hop effect at all. in between games i will set the hop right then when the game starts it doesnt have hop again. so i went home pretty much ######.

after opening the hop again i discovered that the hop lever that pushes the hop rubber is getting stucked. so at first i replaced the two orings that acts as a bushing on the hop lever arm shaft with a thinner one thinking thats whats causing it to stick. it wasnt fixed so i tried installing the hop lever without orings at all. that pretty much solved it. as it turns out on my hop assembly it doesnt need the orings since it doesnt move left to right even if i dont put the bushings in. the bushing actually causes the lever to get stucked.

i can now turn the hop on or off on demand, it now shoots straight and will see this weekend if any other things will come out or cause problems.

as i think more about it, my pdw and g36 only have one oring. and the hop assembly usually have only one side counter bored to accomodate the oring. on my open bolt kit both sides of the axles have orings. maybe there should be only one oring?

maybe the guys who assembled the kit in the we plant accidentaly put in the extra ring?

I'm looking at it right now; only the right side has a recess for the o-ring in my open bolt M4 kit, and two are installed. I'll be trying it with one, though I haven't noticed it sticking. There should really be a second screw on the top of the chamber holding it together.

I noticed while testing my M16 that the hop was great for a few rounds and then would drop on both auto and semi. I have now removed both o rings and the barrel is more stable and hopefully my hop will be better as you guys have found.

I'll test it later in the week when I have some decent range to shoot over

ill be putting one oring back as i now think its supposed to be there cause there is a recess on one side of the hop assembly. one screw holding the hop assembly together is more than enough since it will slide fit in the upper receiver anyway that alone will hold the hop together.

Good point, it's starting to grow on me (the whole thing not just the grey) but the real AR15 I shot certainly didnt have any grey in it. (It was an Oly Arms PCR97) anywhere. Then again it was kind of an oddball rifle anyways <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> (Full length AR15 with collapsible stock <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />).

I'd definetly like to see what the 30shot spread is with both barrel lengths. Even if I had to use the short inner barrel with the M4 outer I'd probably do it because I dont know if I'd ever fully like the stubby look with the detachable carryhandle. Thought about making a 733 out of it but I'd rather have the full length M4. I wonder what could be done to limit the FPS while still providing the awesome blowback on these! Leaky mags do worry me a bit but then again, what gas mags dont leak stock <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

NPAS, no reduction in blowback as far as I've felt, that is with the old closed bolt though.
