FireKnife
Was splinter pattern (German WW2) used for anything else other than by the Third Reich at WW2, did it get used in any other 20th Century Conflicts? I am just trying to come up with another use for it. 'FireKnife'

-Angel-
Really? Using a pattern from the Reich after the war? Thought it was just WW2 in a couple of different varieties; Army and Luftwaffe.

[BS]_MARS
I still wear it from time to time. I've got a BDU cut which I raid modded.

And the next is of some Russians, i think Interior ministry troops with a guy in what looks like a luftwaffe Field Division or later pattern para smock and unknown pants. FireKnife
Well the set i had is US cut, as it claims. But i was hoping to hear the word 'Vietnam' crop up as i am trying desperatley to finish a VC loadout and can be bothered to shell out more for some OD / Tigers. 'FireKnife' I've a 1950's BW splinter pattern jacket used in Vietnam by an Aussie, i,ve pics of it somewhere on the Whermacht awards site.
mikoyan99
I've seen a single pic of a german mercenary in Africa (5 commando)wearing some sort of WW2 german camo - i'm not sure what though, but it looked like very faded oak leaf. I wouldn't be surprised if splinter cropped up there at all. -Matt
chris u'5
The Swedish use M/90 camouflage which is a splinter pattern. http://www.kamouflage.net/camouflage/00024.php

'FireKnife' I think you are confused, NVA (North Vietnamese Army) wore OD green, VC (Peoples Liberation Army) were insurgents and usually wore black pajamas. Gadge
Equally tiger stripe was the pattern worn by south vietnamese marines. It later became adopted by some SF units.
FireKnife
Wooops that was meant to be VN, not VC. I am trying to think of a possible solution of what to do with my splinter pattern for VN games, i know it is US cut so could dye it OD but i would rather save myself the trouble and find uses of Splinter in VN. -Angel-
Sell it and buy some OD's? BDU cut Splinter is a fantasy item anyway, no matter how hard you look. There are plenty of people who don't care about authenticity and will buy it because its a decent pattern for concealment.

Rigiddigit
I have a couple of post war poncho/shelter halves that are made to the czech/polish pattern that are made from mostly splinter pattern cloth. I say mostly as there are a couple of bits that are Italian camo cloth.
DrKalinka
ODs with an overspray of black look wicked. Can you elaborate this? I mostly use OD camo and i have a slight problem with concealement. If OD with black spray works as well as you say, i might be doing this.
Gadge
MACV SOG and other 'greek letter projects' in vietnam used to take the regular jungle fatigues and spray them randomly with black paint or simply dye them black to make them blend in to the jungle better. http://www.modernforces.com/uniform_1.htm
