RWJP
I'd love to see one of thse sealed, but not stained, or kept as light as possible, it almost feels wrong to stain such beautiful wood... Incredible work, i'd love to get an M14 with a stock like that one day...

A light stock would be even more unique than a dark stock. Hmm...
Murdoc
Thats what I'm argueing about with myself... light or dark oak finish. A light stock would be even more unique than a dark stock. Hmm... No fear from light brown stock(especially combinated with black heat shield): I made my one dark, beacuse of the FAL-grip.

Docv400
Excuse my english I'm from germany ^^... Your English is a lot better than some of those who use it as their first language You've done an excellent job on those stocks. Did you use normal Milling cutters in the Milling machine, or wood router bits? You could try using both light and dark stains, in the same way you'd use different colour paints. With a Hardwood like Oak, they shouldn't 'bleed' into each other too much. In fact, I think a little bleeding would be good, to blend the edges together. Try experimenting on an offcut. SSG69Pro
Thanks to all again Your English is a lot better than some of those who use it as their first language You've done an excellent job on those stocks. We used normal milling cutters, which worked excellent. Oak is a hard wood, perhaps normal milling cutters perform even better with oak than wood milling cutters would do. Do you mean making something like a camo pattern with different stains? Sounds very interesting, I'm sure I will try this later on another custom gun project. But here, we both decided to make the stocks DARK.

bbondaloose
Absolutely fantastic work! i was surprised how... well it came out, and from seeing how much work you put into it, I can see why it came out perfect like so. Like someone else said, if you make a M1 Garand, I will cry tears of joy, and wash your feet with biovals.

Sounds very interesting, I'm sure I will try this later on another custom gun project. Yes, exactly that. Try it on an offcut of the wood first, and use a piece of rag for applying the stain, not a brush.
