starburst
Possibly, show wise I can see them being out of their budget (although I have no idea really how costs would compare between an M4 to a G36K and an ACR for productions) but in world possibly. The teams still mostly carry M4s, which isnt a big surprise as so do US regular and special forces, but I could see them using or at least trialed models like the 416 or SCAR as a replacement. Thats the problem with trying to think logically with a TV show which is supposed to be 'real world' when they are obviously limited by their budget and whats available locally. Looking at my picture I just cant help thinking it would look better with a P90 or G36K instead of the Masada.
Tichinde
all pics are improved by at least 77% with a P90 :-) good find Bankz, a lot of props went up for sale when the shows finished but I couldn;t afford/justify any of them :-) although the guy on the right in the team pic I posted not only built a screen accurate staff weapon but a replicator...I'll see if I can find the pics. ah, bugaboos, I used a pair of glacier goggles for a while, no good for airsoft though! Tichinde
here are some better pics of my Desert vest. its a webtex crossdraw that I removed the holster and stiched on some MOLLE loops (I've yet to add a pouch to it...)
starburst
That really looks good, where did you get the P90 pouches from?
Tichinde
just the bog standard Viper ones in Tan, they where a good colour match.
faramon
Not great but thrown together in under 3 weeks ...
starburst
Looks good, like a modernised version of what they wear but keeping enough of the traditional look. The jackets get very warm in anything but the coldest weather, so a set of ACU patterned BDU's is something I have considered investing in for all year use, plus features like integrated (but hidden) knee pads are the way forward with making this look practical. faramon
Thanks Starburst, I think i will eventually get the right jacket and vest and put together the original kit. I would also like to point out I only had the sleeves rolled up due to the fact that the XL (asian sizes) BDU's had some weird *albatross* sleeves that came about 4 inches short of where they should so looked weird as sin. The green dump puch on my side was also for my camera (and most of the pouches have lenses and a couple of speedlites in xD). There was a fair amount of recognition so I was quite glad it went well. I have some more photos here http://www.sosayweall.co.uk/post/34701773843/this-weekend-gone-was-amazing-it-was-the-london
Snoop-Uk
Looking for the right Jacket, even replicas command a VERY high price.(£200+ on ebay.) Having checked, have found a replica at about £60 from hong kong, theres a dark decal on the back, but that should be covered by the omega vest and probably will rub off as it looks to be just a print on. Worst case scenario, dylon??? http://www.ebay.com/itm/ClotheSpace-Mens-Military-US-Amry-Flying-Jacket-MJ13-M-/120711871869
Tichinde
that looks pretty decent! as you say, the vest will hide the wierd decal. certainly good for airsoft!
Snoop-Uk
Been searching around for the omega tac vest, at present I'm really finding it hard to find at decent price. Can anyone suggest an alternative to http://www.rap4.com/store/paintball/molle-utility-pouch-for-tactical-vest-black ??? I'm thinking of getting a cheap vest, or a Molle vest and considering attaching it tight on with stitching(yes I know how to sew) to complete the look, won't be 110% but might be pretty damn close. Snoop-Uk
OK, Rap4 have a UK store, looking around, think that I can use http://www.solware.co.uk/bb-guns/tactical-vests.shtml as a base..... take off the normal mag pouches, and fit on some rap4 util pouches, what am peoples thoughts? Tichinde
depends on how accurate you want it to look, I got mine from here: http://www.spservices.co.uk/item/BlackHawk_BlackHawkOmegaTacticalVestMedicUtility-Unkitted_100_61_2852_0.html back when it was about half the price.. Ebay is probably a good bet for a cheap black assault vest if you are going to be chopping and sewing. as you say, a MOLLE vest with some horizontal utility pouches on it would work quite well too. Snoop-Uk
Looks like the rap 4 vest in black with 2 util punches is 70% accurate missing only the faster buckles on shoulders and left shoulder util piuch
Habakure
Spservices don't carry that vest in stock (as of may last year when I tried to order one). They kept saying they'd get it in stock, but after waiting 7 weeks (and another delay), I cancelled and got a refund.
Snoop-Uk
Think that's quite common blackhawk I think superseded the vest some time ago hence looking at the rap4 alternatives at moment looks like they have omega replicas with Velcro and press stud plate attachment those may be my best bet as should be less than £20 for the pouches just don't have price or pics for the vest yet
Snoop-Uk
And now my mp5 motor has stripped fun
Tichinde
Looks like the rap 4 vest in black with 2 util punches is 70% accurate missing only the faster buckles on shoulders and left shoulder util piuch afaik you have to add the buckles to the shoulders (they were added by the costume department on the show). when I first started I used a simple viper LA special forces vest (any black assualt style vest looks fine) but it depends on how realistic to the show you want to be. I have found that while the black hawk vest is great its not always practical for airsoft.....
Snoop-Uk
If its really that bad sell it to me
Snoop-Uk
I always found it funny no dump pouches plus no frag pouches but there's always spare frags or c4
Gliderrider
I'm selling a blackhawk omega pistol crossdraw vest if thats any use, or you could try this http://www.web-tex.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=1370 or for bang on SG-1 goodness http://www.blackhawk.com/product/%E2%84%A6mega-Tactical-Vest-MedicUtility,1130,85.htm but thats expensivecompared to the webtex vest.(which is a direct copy of the Omega tac vest 1)
Gliderrider
I thought I'd allready posted this, but evidently not. Not a great pik, I'll grant you, but starting at the top- PASGT with Black cover, ranger band and US Duesert Dust gogs(goggle bit round back in a cover ala black hawk down) Black Base Layer Genuine WEP-8 jacket and repro SG1 pathes Black Nomex flight gloves Blackhawk Omega Crossdraw vest witha stars and stripes taken from a BHD vest from e-hobby Belt is a black alice belt and hanging from it are 2 pouches for pyro & a dump pouch OD BDU pants US Desert Boots. Weapons are Railed M9 and ACM Stubby Killer/Carter special conversion without a scope Profile pik is the same but with a tan baseball cap I picked up somewhere. I know the vest is not exactly as per the show, but this is a working setup adapted from the show. With 6 mags in the vest and one in the gun, plus a spare mag for the pistol I have enough ammo, unless its going to be a long game in which case it will be hi caps rather than 100round mids. I bought the jacket from ebay, but I do have an email somewhere from someone that makes them for about 100 quid, i'll try and find it.
Snoop-Uk
Not bad why did you go for a carter special ?(cxp15? Look similar ?)
starburst
Your tempting me to break out the old gear and spend more money to make it skirmishable, would need some mag pouches as the Stargate vest doesnt have any :s Great looking loadout!
Gliderrider
Not bad why did you go for a carter special ?(cxp15? Look similar ?) I had a P90 & MP5, but wanted something a bit different, I also had in mind getting a couple of electric C mags, but never got around to it before I sold it. Now I still have the gear but I've not got a gun to go with it. IIRC it doesnt have a designation, just a stock on top of an olympic arms micro http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.imfdb.org/images/thumb/2/23/Carterspecial.jpg/450px-Carterspecial.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Stargate_SG-1_-_Season_7&h=262&w=450&sz=37&tbnid=AoTNNt0i09LAQM:&tbnh=70&tbnw=120&zoom=1&usg=__L4b1eSDh82UdeTWe3vMzC6L_eAw=&docid=mp2B9Vpm3sqexM&sa=X&ei=X_9OUa-VFaKV0AX14YG4BA&ved=0CDoQ9QEwAQ&dur=1546 http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Stargate_SG-1_-_Season_7
