New PTW/CTW Sniper Grade Barrel

CELCIUS CTW – REFORMATION BARREL II

We received the samples few days ago and found that the design of this barrel is very unique. After carefully checked the quality and its compatibility with PTW, we are very excited to write a review. This is our first review in ArniesAirsoft.

First Impressions

We were very surprised to see the high quality of this barrel. It is strong, solid, and the quality of the workmanship is good. The barrel is also well polished.

Material

It is made of stainless steel, and the material was imported from Japan. We cut it to prove that the material is actually made of stainless steel. The barrel is indeed made of stainless steel, not anodized brass. We found out how hard the barrel is when we tried to hit the barrel with a piece of metal and it produced a clear high pitch sound.

The differences

The new barrel named "Sniper-Grade – Reformation Barrel II" is longer than most models in the market. The end of the barrel for each model is extended about 0.5cm. When you take the Flash Hider off you will see that the inner barrel is sticking out from the outer barrel.

The other important change of the design is that the barrel's head is also 0.5mm longer than the standard PTW barrel design. Normally when the nozzle pushes the BB to the barrel, actually the BB stays in the Chamber Packing Base. But now the new design allows the BB to be placed in the barrel directly before it is fired. This certainly helps to improve the accuracy. We cut the chamber to prove it and see how it works.

If you try to measure the inner diameter with a regular caliper, it will show 5.99-6.00mm. But this is not the correct way to measure an inner diameter of a barrel and the result will not be accurate. We have 6.02 high precision metal BB that cannot be inserted. This means the barrel is also tighter than 6.02mm. We guess that the barrel is 6.00 or 6.01mm. High quality BB like EXCEL, KSC, and CELCIUS BB's diameter is about 5.95mm, so there will be no problem from using good quality BBs.

Accuracy test

We conducted an indoor test. Target distance is 10m.

For the test, we were using a bench vice to keep the gun consistently steady from shot to shot.

Test informations:

GUN - CELCIUS CTW M4A1 X-MAX

BARREL - CTW Sniper Grade - Reformation Barrel II

CYLINDER UNIT - CLU-450

HOPUP BUCKING - Stock

HOPUP SETTING - 0-50%

CTWNewBarrelReview13.jpg

With KSC 0.20g BBs

CTWNewBarrelReview14.jpg

With CELCIUS 0.25g BBs

The most accurate shots are taken with no hop-up. The less is better, just enough to get the BB out to the distance we are trying for.

Price

The estimate price for this Sniper Grade barrel is USD 214. This is one of the most expensive parts inside the CTW. But with only about USD 600-700, this barrel is already inside the CTW X-MAX.

Conclusion

CELCIUS really keep their promise to improve the barrel. This time the result is not only about improvement, in our opinion this is the real REFORMATION. The quality and accuracy is impressive. Chronograph testing shows some gain in FPS. Now the CTW is an absolute monster AEG.

Pro
