kelo 1 1
I am what you will classify as an assaulter. When playing any game I am always the first to get through the door of a building. At most games I am the number 1 or 2 man on a door stack and will always have pyro on me. I disagree with there being only 3 practical ways because I don't fall into any of those and I seem to be successful when it comes to games. What you need to equate for is the support structure, there's no point running as an assaulter if you have no support.
tome
I generally wait outside while Kilo 1 1 goes in.... get's shot up..... calls for a medic.... then i go in and medic him :-) Just kidding. I agree with Kilo in that some of the player types that have been listed are useless unless you actually have a radioed up team that are trying to work together. For example there's little point having a recon man if he's only reporting back to one or two people. Infiltrator has a similar problem as without a team the infiltrator will get owned as soon as he's spotted unless he runs away.
jotohomomoto
Where I play, its kind of just splitting up in the woods and clashing somewhere in the middle until everyone dies. I think it might be fun to be more organized/tactical but we just haven't gotten to that point. I still have fun. We play POW, VIP and Zombie games as well.

You don't need any particular support to help you. Every game, you are guaranteed plenty of M4/rental gun wielding cannon fodder, and in the blaze of sewing machine fire you can basically disappear. The #1 thing that gives you away in airsoft is the sound of your AEG. If you simply don't shoot until you are right on top of the enemy, then you will most likely not be detected. Often infiltration tactics succeed simply because the enemy mistakes you for their own peeps when you do sneak up on them. And TBH, I have never, in all my 2 years of skirmishing (twice a month, at least, usually more) met an effective "sniper". But I have met quite a few people with very accurate, and very deadly M14s. I like to get on high ground and observe games sometimes. I find that the #1 killer on the field are the DMR people who manage to find a good spot. They are guaranteed kills because there are always cannon fodding noobs in every game. Infiltrators are more of a hit and miss. If they flank successfully, they clean house, otherwise, they just die and kill no one. And I have rarely seen support gunners hit anything. Due to the nature of their weapon, they can't exactly "duck into cover". So the good support gunners always shoot and lob BBs from the back where the noobs can seem him and then fire back exposing themselves in return to the enemy DMRs.
Gliderrider
I tend to one of eith two styles. Thompson and LOTS of pyro, or Semi Sneeky on my own or in a small group with my SLR Pyro is great fun against players that arnt too switched on, put a full mag into the area from the thompson as i run to keep heads down, then once I'm inside grenade range and behind some form of cover I useually send 5 or 6 at once. Semi sneeky is also great fun, using a "Stalk" technique, then once i'm reletivly comfy open up on my clueless prey. This is even more fun when you run into a similar group. Colosseum
I prefer to run around and shoot people. I don't really have a "style" of play; whatever suits me at the moment is what I do.
FireKnife
At Ground Zero here in the UK a few years back i met a two man sniper team, along with a properly Ghillied up sniper with a custom boltie that took his role seriously. While 99% are DM's or for support, you will get the odd true 'sniper', often the more experinced players with lots of expendable cash. As for Recon, my side usually finds it very useful, i go in, get the info, get it back to them quick, on the way if i have to i pick off the odd flanker etc. I don't count 'hits' rather the number f times my info has made a difference. Colosseum
The only thing I've ever found a rifle scope useful for in airsoft is to be able to look across the field without having to dig out binoculars.
huntER_HuntED
I scout/skirmish, however i often spot for my team sniper
mr.systema
I play a Assault, sniper. ready to support all position if team need
spetsnazdave87
I get stuck in usually, my team doesnt really have a sniper. We have a support gunner, a semi-marksman/scout/general sneaky *bramston pickle*, commander and the rest are just fast moving shooters. For some reason I often end up on point though... BOWDEN
kind of a run at the enemy kind of guy
Drifty
I usually go off with my brother and try to flank the other team.
WetFlannel
I would fit nicely in the Scout/Skirmisher category, if it wasn't for my 6'4" stature and my inability to run more than 1 metres without getting a stitch. Assault is more my game for this reason
swannie_2006
I play mixed roles. Medic/Gunner/Assault. In this preference. It is awesome when you get to save the life of your comrades. Also, as soon as you don the medic arm band your mates tend to look after you Those days my frags are the lives I saved. I feel good when I go home with 30+ I am still a trigger happy person which can't be lived out in a medic role (I usually go single pistol with 5 mags to be high speed low drag) so when I get into my Gunner kit, I am spraying 360 degree until I run out of BB or my last battery is dry
doddy
i put assault but shock troop/cannon fodder would propably be a better description. Basically i dont mind working on my own or in a team, as long as i get to run at the enemy sort of moving between cover then i'm happy. Admitadly i usually get shot first but i have a lot of fun getting shot and around a third of the time my suicide charges can work. Basically i just have fun, get shot, bleed out and do it again
chudawg
Untill my m14 arives i am out of commision however when my sawed off g36 worked i was allways charging the enemy into CQB range since my gun had short range and bad accuracy. however when i get my m14 ill probably be a MARKSMEN not a sniper there is a diffrence. snipers= not being see, engaging high value targets then moveing along without going for the grunts in order to not be discoverd. marksmen= ussaly a troop with a aeg with long range and presicion. his job is to take down many targets fast while useing minimum ammo it dosent matter whether seen most of the time because he will be out of reach of most assult/support gunners and the only thing he has to worry about are snipers and other marksmen. if they get close it dosent really matter ether because he can switch to full and mow em down... blind_marksman
It appears I forgot to explain my 'other'... Other - Personal Meat shield, Walking wall, human tank, etc... In other words - I'm basically your average cannon fodder/grunt assault trooper, who more often than not (because I'm an LST) gets used for cover. Go me! I'm also frequently the medic. Prolonged sprinting isn't my thing - but, I am good at quickly legging it forwards to 'revive' a downed comrade. (Armed)VIP. Seem to be very good in the bodyguard/hostage/escort missions. I've also one more then one occasion medic'd OpFor. So, you could say my role is also traitor...but, it was entirely accidental!
WhiskeyJuliet
I'm kind of a spilt. When I play 'Namsoft I'm assault, we only have one pig and one is all you need with the ammo bonuses you get. In a normal skirmish I'm usually light support with my MG36. I try not to spray and pray, though sometimes its impossible not to pull the trigger alot with all thata ammo in the can! I try to lay down supressing fire - keeping people's heads (and PTWs) down behind rocks while others of my team flank the position. Sometimes works like a charm, sometimes doesn't. I've also just finished an Navy Mk12 Mod0 DMR which shoots as well as other people's uprgraded M14's so I'm going to flirt with the squad marksman role at sites which allow DMRs. I also have an King Arms SVD bolter, shoot like a dream but I don't think I'll use it much as I know I'm not a sniper. My girlfriend is a very capable...something...we're not sure what. Basically we advance on a position then all the boys usually get shot up, but she darts and ducks past all the incoming fire and usually manages to hold the position by herself (she's wasted whole squads in the process on her best days) until we can reinforce the position having come up with a better "plan." The fact that her marpat works a treat at the desert site usually means she stays well hidden. I'm going to have to give her a VSR to play with at some point. W_J.
wolfgeorge
Almost all the times as a sniper unless I play CQB!
faramon
You know that door no one wants to run through because several people are on the other side dug in but it is necessary to push past... well I am normally the first guy through that door.
Grendell02
Scout/ Marksman for me as I usually spin off and serve as the bogey. Hit and run leading tangos into my teams kill corridor. I usually bring an mp7 or an M4 SBR. I also like moving along the line of battle to hit higher value targets or eliminate positions that would otherwise funnel my team mates. I also like sentries, campers and stragglers...
Arghoslent93
I chose Commander, but my style is also a mix of Scout and Assault. Its probably a 50/25/25 split. I'm good with leadership and delegation, but equally I'm adept at taking the initiative and pushing the team forward when I can see that an objective isn't being achieved. I play aggressively but methodically.
signal319
I often go as pointman for my team when we go on the flanks, as I know all the hand signals and shiznit, but I often assume command of my team as well, looking at the ground and deciding who should go where for best effect. In my private night games with my team, I like to look at the map and plan the mission fully from start to finish, and co-ordinate it's execution, leading the patrol from the front. When we have a lot of new players on a site day I often encourage them to get forward and actually start firing their guns rather than hanging back just out of range and not having an effect. I can go loud and aggressive; rapid fire, grenades and bayonet fixed - and it's great fun - but I also frequently go softly and sneakily around the flanks, hitting the enemy in the side and opening up a gap for me or my team mates to exploit. Ambushes are more on my agenda, and focussing on not being seen. Frontline is the way forward - fighting, leading or observing.

I find myself doing this a lot, encouraging them forward making sure they understand that is required of them, normally I will be at the front showing how to clear the way to the best of my ability.
