The Reptile House
If you put a bit of pressure on it above the point where it flares out, you can easily get it back into shape. I freaked when my 97 came like that, but it was an easy fix. It'll be interesting to see if my 97B is similarly afflicted, when it arrives
Reppyboyo
I fixed it by taking it off and 'pinching' both sides together. Â The other side was fine from the start, so it didn't affect it at all.
The Reptile House
Your description is better than mine - 'pinching' is exactly what I did.
adadqgg
Hey there all fellow RS Type 97Â I am going to be buying some mags for this gun soon but I was wondering whats the mag compatibility for this? Â Do King Arms Plastic M4 Mags work? I would save up and just buy RealSword mags. Â I tried man other brands and they all feel like ###### when compared to RealSword mags. Â So I got 4 RS mags and a Magpul PTS p-mag. Â He bought it new in the U.S. No luck with contacting other retailers or the manufacturer, or distributors. RealSword North America branch is located in U.S... ask precisionairsoft about contact information. Edited March 4, 2010 by adadqgg
Reppyboyo
P-Mags looks odd in a 97.
adadqgg
P-Mags looks odd in a 97. Not really, they look better in real life. Â However, they wobble like hell, so do not ever get one for skirmishing. Â I have ONE just for looks.
wilekcmc
I happen to agree, save up your money and buy the RS mag's. As for the p-mags they just don't fit the image of the t97, that's just my opinion.
wilekcmc
Over the weekend i received my eotech red dot and 4x scope, also here are some pics of it and the load out i plan on using with the t97. Â
Reppyboyo
Â Â This lipo from component shop fits well. Only bad thing being the steel receiver 'pokes' the pack the way I install the battery (lower hand guard removal only), left tiny (less than 1mm) dents in my pack. May consider filing down that edge just in case anyway. Â 7.4V 1900mAh 20C+ continuous discharge (says 25c on the pack) 88 x 34.0 x 16.5mm weight 102g
Lone_Bullet
Whoa, you actually might be my new hero... heh I'm ordering them right away! ( Would a 11.1V work? hmz... It didn't seem to high/thick )
Reppyboyo
Doubt a 11.1v would fit. As said the steel receiver just pokes the pack as it is, adding a third cell probably wouldn't fit.
Lone_Bullet
Hmz, well I'll take your word for it then. Thanks
The Reptile House
Probably worth mentioning that while this battery will fit a 97B, I don't think it'll fit the 97. This is because the thumb recess at the top left-hand-side of the 97's grip impinges on the internal battery space. The 97B doesn't have an indent in the same place. The Reptile House
Double post... Â ...but while I'm on, the only thing I don't like about my 97 is that I keep getting asked if it's a FAMAS. Edited March 12, 2010 by The Reptile House

Reppyboyo
Finally got my 97b out for a good skirmish. Also got loads of FAMAS comments, mostly it looks like a FAMAS that has been put in a hot wash  Anyway I LOVE IT! Silly fire rate on a 7.4v, very accurate for a stock AEG and was a joy to use.  Only bad thing is the RS mag that came with it broke after 2 loads. :-/ Jams constantly, very annoying but luckily I had a spare MAG magazine to replace it. Lone_Bullet
Can anyone confirm this? Â Probably worth mentioning that while this battery will fit a 97B, I don't think it'll fit the 97. The Reptile House
The battery dimensions are in Reppyboyo's post - 34.0mm wide - so possible to self-confirm. Â I happened to have both my 97 and my 97B stripped when I noticed the difference in space. Looked unlikely to fit the 97 going by the pics, but I didn't get my tape measure out. Lone_Bullet
Well, yeah, sowwy ( Really didn't think of it. gosh.. ) Â Are their any other internal batteryoptions left for my beloved Type 97? ( LiPo ) Edited March 15, 2010 by Lone_Bullet

ultimentra
Question: Does the PEQ-box mod require a rewiring? Or can you just use the stock tamiya plugs and feed them out of the hole in the hand-guard?
wilekcmc
Question: Does the PEQ-box mod require a rewiring? Or can you just use the stock tamiya plugs and feed them out of the hole in the hand-guard? Â You will have to extend the wiring or replace it to do the mod. I always replace the stock wiring and change over to den plugs to get rid of the restance that it causes. If you go with the mod it would be a great time to add a mosfet to it
ultimentra
Okay, I figure I would just get a mosfet or I would just get a tamiya-tamiya plug extender. Thanks for the info.
The Reptile House
I did the latter in my 97 and just used a tamiya-tamiya plug extender (I use a battery bag). I didn't want to permanently mess with the wiring until I knew I had the battery format right. I now have a MOSFET on the way with the wires super extended for the front end. Â With the 97B, the wiring is already long enough to poke out of the front end and PEQ/bag up as you like.
