Drivers Cutting You Off?

I know what that's going to be without clicking the link.

You do get some odd people.

You can actually buy kits that allow you to do this.

The silly bit is that they require an igniter to be built into the exhaust tip to set light to the expelled fuel.

This, obviously, makes the exhausts look rather nasty.

I recently read an article in a car mag about a guy who is a bit of a James Bond freak and has built a bunch of gadgets into his MR2.

It's fitted with flip-down number plates, flamethrowers, strobe lights, a gizmo that can drop an oil-slick (yes, really) on the road behind it, generate smoke and all manner of nonsense.

Not really sure how they're allowed on the road TBH. :(
Is this legal in Britain lol?

I remember seeing some documentary a looong time ago stating that if you get the proper permits, you can actually drive a tank/APC around XD.

Though Stealth, this news isn't on a car - it's on a moped XD.
Depending on the weight you would need your HGV (heavy goods vehicle) and if it had tracks or not your tracked vehicle license, which is category H. I cant remember the HGV one off the top of my head.

So, yeah. If you had an Abrams you could drive it on the road if you had those two parts added to your license. The only thing is petrol, getting it insured and road tax. I dont imagine there all that economical and I wonder where you'd stick the tax disc? End of the barrel? :D

And you have to modify the tracks so they don't litterally tear up the M1, I think.

Actually you don't have to modify the tracks, most tracked non-plant vehicles have rubber inserts in the tracks.

You couldn't drive an abrams without an escort because it is too wide but you could get one of the original spartans with the jag V12 engine, they will do 70 forwards and reverse.

You need an H license which I an take you for, the HGV is C.

Tracked vehicles (last time I checked) don't require an MOT and don't pay road tax.

tracked vehicles (military ones) DO require a form of MoT because they are road legal. Bulbs, brake efficiency and general condition.... that kind of thing. they have minor inspections on a weekly basis with the level of inspection increasing for the 6 monthly and yearly inspections respectively. they can be put off the road at any time for things like brake lights not working.

obviously at time of conflict, if it moves, turns, stops and the main weapon works, she's good to roll out the door!

Cat C is HGV rigid body only

Cat C + E is HGV articulated (or rigid and trailer) it the equivilent of the old HGV 1.

Flame throwe kits are all the rage in parts of South Africa, and i believe they are legal too, all part of anti-carjacking proceedings.

some nasty piece of work taps on your window with his shooter demanding your car whilst at the traffic lights and you push a buttong that sends 6 foot flames from his ankles upwards!

should be legal in UK too - if i can work my *albatross* off to afford a nice car i should be allowed to protect it from the dregs of society intent on stealing it.m (but that argument should be saved for another thread!)

True, but if you use it and the person dies you can get charged with murder. Personally I prefer the system that locks the doors and windows, then fills the car with CS gas

So you'd gas yourself? lol!

I'm sure I seen someone recently on TV doing a charity drive in a tank from John O'groats to one of the memorial sites in France for a D-Day rememberance. I think it was a Scorpion, it was a wee thing. I remember him saying he had to get the barrel filled with cement otherwise he couldnt buy it since it was still able to fire live ammo.

Yeah, while the tracked stuff is still in the army there are MEIs but once a civvy buys it I don't think there are MOTs since there are no test centres that can test a tracked vehicle.

Passed my CPCS dozer test this morning which means I now have:

B, B+E, C1, C1+E, C, C+E, D1, D1+E, G, H, (F, K, L, N, P)

360 excavator tracked

Articulated dump truck tester

Dozer

Got dozer tester, wheeled 360 excavator, 180 excavator, loading shovel and ride on roller on the way, I'm just collecting categories.

I once got overtaken on the road by a convoy of 3 or 4 Challenger tanks.

It was dark and I was driving the missus MR2 (a pretty low car). I stopped to fill up and, after pulling out of the petrol station, onto the A75, I noticed a bunch of seriously bright headlights behind me which were dazzling me so badly that I could barely see where I was going.

Slowed down to about 40mph to let whatever it was past and then I heard all this clattering and rumbling and a flippin tank overtook me!

Then another one, and another one and....

:o

After I stopped laughing I caught em back up and overtook em again on the next straight. :D
