WE M14 Gas Blowback Rifle

Recommended Posts

Deal of the Day from Evike $260 USD.... Is this worth it...?  The video looks amazing...!

IMHO NO,  I purchased mine of EBAirsoft for $280 with free postage and it slipped through Spanish customs without charge, so I got an awesome deal.  This gun though needs everything replaced, trigger group, bolt catch being the first.  It's a fun GBBR from what I read and see but it`'ll easily cost you double in internal upgrades.

Anyone had an issue with the Ra-Tech real gun function bolt catch? I installed it correctly and I can lock the bolt back with it but when Im shooting with an empty mag the bolt rarely locks back and when it does it goes back as soon as I take the magazine out. Is there a solution to this problem?

That's often a symptom of whatever pushes the bolt catch up from the magazine not pushing it up enough; The easiest fix is to add material to the underside of the bolt catch so it gets a more positive engagement with the bolt (generally a bit of credit card superglued in place is a good way of doing it). That's obviously assuming part of the magazine pushes the bolt catch up on empty with the M14, which I'm not familiar with, although I can't imagine how else it'd lock the bolt....

Bit of a necro post but I needs halps. Finally got a hold of an Ratech EBR, and while it has the steel trigger set it doesn't have the one piece box. So obviously it's splitting. But I found after two skirmishes that the Bo doesn't seat properly (looks like the spring in the EBR stock keeps popping it out. This prevents the bolt from engaging the hammer. I've used electrical tape to hold it together and while it works it looks really tacky. Is it the spring or the box that's causing it to fail, I don't want to buy the one piece box for it not to work (I'm also in the mind of selling her hence the unwillingness to fork out..) (Hopefully this makes sense, I've just finished a nine day marathon at work and had no sleep due to BF4 xD)

Believe me, once you get that one piece triggerbox, your gun will feel like brand new. Mine was giving me troubles until I forked over money for it - the difference in blowback and performance was night and day.

Back in March 2011 we purchased two of the -back then- lvl2 RA-Tech M14s, which are more like a 2.5 version they no longer make.

I traded mine for a classic Escort gun, but the twin was pretty much stored at my buddy's place.

Yesterday he sent it to me, and I'm tempted to keep it. In fact I ordered the only RA-T parts that it was missing: nozzle guides, trigger box and trigger spring pin.

I'll make a full inspection, install the parts and re-grease, then try the mags with propane. If I'm not happy with the performance I'll probably get some of those HPA nipples.

It's been almost 4 years without a GBB rifle... we'll see how this "resurrection" goes :)

Sorry guys, I should had updated you long time ago, but I have been too busy.

I finished the first prototype of the mag, using a pistol style output valve (it's easier to make). At first I used a 3.5 mm hole for the outflow but the pressure of the CO2 was too high to open that so the hammer spring hasn't enough force to open it.

Then I made another valve, with 2.5 mm hole, that should need the same force than the original gas valve. Now the hammer spring open the valve but the hole is too small and don't give enough flow to fully cycle the gun.

So now I'm making the second prototype, which will use GHK style valves. The GHK valves allows more gas to flow, being pretty easy to open. On the other hand, they must be made with better tolerances since they tend to leak.

Quick update: already finished the V2 body of the mag. It's not perfect but should work.

Today I made the GHK style valve body but the inner hole got overbore because of the chips rubbing. Will try again tomorrow.

My main problem right now (without taking into account that I need a better mil) is that since my lips are broken, the gas route may bend because of the gas pressure when shooting and leak, so no test will be valid until I get new lips.

I'm also thinking in a short style mag, but first get a functional prototype.

Since it's almost all aluminium it weights about 450g with the steel shell. Almost the same as the most lightweight GBBR mag I know, the GHK M4 one.

I calculate it will take about 50g of CO2.

It has to be that, the video I watch said I don't have to take it out and do not show it. The pin goes all the way to one side and stops. I can do this from side to side and it won't come out.

Is the video I used.
