Tinkerton
Oh, hey, this is a good, indepth review of this tablet. Oh hey, this is talking about the software on it. O...K, whats a kernel? <FOUR DAYS LATER> So, i'm trying to compile this build from source and it wont play nicely with the modem i've got from here, and the XPOSED framework is banjaxed and busybox works unless I try and make the screen dim, and then it reboots. Any ideas?

shmook
Never fear for me getting bogged down in all that nerd stuff... Hammers are my forte for fixing things. Most electronic devices are filed in my mind under 'infernal machines'.
Lone_Bullet
Not a question, but an observation. If you like youtube a LOT, then don't consider a 1440p screen just yet. There's not much 1440p content yet and 1080p on a 1440p screen looks like shat out pixel on a glass plate.Excuse my language, it's something I failed to consider while buying a €500 monitor...
hitmanNo2
That's something I hadn't thought of. How does 720p look as the pixels should map pretty well.
Lone_Bullet
To be fair, 1080p full screen ( that's how I like my Let'sPlays ) is... bearable if you don't sit too close.720p... it's bad on normal view or cinematic view, never mind full screen.
hitmanNo2
I don't think they'll ever be much 1440p content. It's kind of niche. Out of interest, can you try some 4K stuff on YouTube and see how it looks. The higher bitrate should improve things.
Lone_Bullet
Content, nah, you're right. But when it comes to gaming, my 1440p 24" is sooooo crisp looking. 4k on the other hand is nog there yet. Now that I've tasted 120fps+ don't wanna go back. Wake me when the 5k 21:9 HDR adaptive sync monitors are gaming mainstream ^^ Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
hitmanNo2
Yeah, I'm planning on upgrading to 1440p 27" but then I see how awesome the 1440p ultrawides are...
amateurstuntman
Youtube looks great on my 1440p monitor. Could it be the monitor itself? I won't upgrade again until I can get over 4k at over 100hz because high frame rate is a game changer.
hitmanNo2
SLI 1080s will do that on some games. A single card solution might be the 1080Ti.
jal3
If you like high quality youtube, you should check out SVP / SVPTube. It's a frame interpolation tool for videos, and it supports youtube streaming. Upscale 30fps videos to 60, 120 etc.
amateurstuntman
Nice. I currently have a 1080 Classified and a full cover water block for it I haven't fitted. I can't decide whether to fit it and keep it or sell both and get a 1080ti that has a manufacturer water block. Tough decision.
Tinkerton
Wanted. HTPC sized horizontal case. usb 3.0 on the front. External 5.25" bay. ATX PSU support if possible but would settle for SFX or TFX if I had to. Micro ATX Mobo support. any ideas?
paranoiddroid
Um... Guys... How easy is it to install a think pad keyboard replacement?

Mike 8-{>
These days laptop keyboard replacements are pretty straightforward. Laptop designers twigged that folks spill stuff on them and they need to be easy to swap
amateurstuntman
On the underside there are screws with pictures of keyboards next to them, undo them. Push the keyboard slightly towards the screen and hinge it out from the palm rest end. Undo the one ribbon cable underneath. Done. More complete instructions will be in the Hardware Maintenance Manual. Just search Lenovo, Hardware Maintenance Manual, and the model number. It'll be a PDF file. Only download it from the Lenovo website. It has step-by-step instructions and nice drawings.

Got Wood?
I have a quick one. A gaming desktop built from individual parts, shouldn't have any problem with a SATA connected blu ray drive right? Mine just powers on, but doesn't show on windows explorer, and hitting the eject button opens and closes the tray straight away
Tinkerton
try another SATA port on the mobo. Does the Mobo even see it in the UEFI/Bios?
