SLR 8" SBR build done. Just waiting for a few accessories (sling end plate, AAC Blast Shield, Cloud Defensive LCS, and an actual working ScoutLight head) and repairing my BTC Spectre, but otherwise al

Hey all! I kind of stumbled upon this thread by accident while searching for M16A2 receiver markings on google and saw one of Catgut's amazing VT's. Which brought me here I have been working on

One of my latest build, a real Colt M16A1 converted for GBBR on the WA system. Stripped upper, barrel and BCG was changed to Viper Tech du to my local laws. Also a video of how it was made:

What is the best way to have upper/lower/rail colored in dark matte black and a barrel i dark matte grey.

Preferable in Europe.

Is it powder coating or Cerakote

Pro and cons on each one please

Marking must be customize afterworth

I would say cerakote as it's a much thinner finish and probably more durable than powder coating. I would get any marking/engraving done before you have it coated though.

Unless he meant laser etched markings like 416 has.

I know it wasn't directed at me, but the PA MicroDots are really great red dots. They can handle a lot of shock and impacts and can be used on real AR's. They're water proof as well and I've played in the rain on multiple occasions without any issues. The dot is clean and can be seen in super bright conditions, etc, etc. Really good sight for the price though to my understanding some what hard to get outside of the US.

On a different note, damn I'm really falling in love with the Vision King short dot.

Picked up a replacement for my TM Scar-L that i have been using but i prefer the AR15 platform for feel/customisation now.

Has quite an extensive internals build spec that i will need to get off the guy who built it if anyone is interested, Running an ASCU along with many other internals, Superb.

Kinda Block 2 ish i guess.

Did have some MBUS front sights on it but took them off as it was looking a bit cluttered up front, Looking to get some KAC front sights instead

Sorry Stickman, I mean Ck!

Great looking rifle btw, the stock would look better in black imo though.

Loving the magwell decal too. Shameless self promotion!

Cheers, I'm not a huge fan of the Mission First version of Tan, but the original plan was to get the KMR cerakoted.  Stupidly I got impatient after having it sat in the box for weeks and mounted it.. no way that thing is ever coming off now.

What's Your impression on this Primary Arms micro dot?

Had my other one for pushing 2 years now, held up a million times better than any airsoft T-1 on my EBB and GBB ARs, probably one of my favourite investments.

@CKinnerley

That is beautiful. You should attack the BCM gunfighter grip.

Gone off foregrips unfortunately, else I would.  That's why I went for the rail bungees, more grip.

On the other hand, I managed to get my hands on a pa micro and it couldn't even manage the recoil on my dsg AKSU (aeg).

Apparently there are some that have dodgy switches.

Every company has their lemons I guess, must've been pretty unlucky with that one mate.

CKinnerley, when you take away that red dot and mag, your gun looks like a very very very long golf club lol.

Ha, yeah a minimalist stock and very long/thin forend might do that.

I've seen a few reports of failures like mine, but it seems to be one of those 'either brilliant for ever or totally *fruitcage*buggered out of the box' things.

Unfortunately, being in Hong Kong, I can't take advantage of their apparently excellent customer service.
