"All Stations, this is Zero..."

I'm gonna say something that I don't think anyone else has yet.

What is it gonna cost?

I read AI only very occasionally because I pick it up in the store, take a cursory flick through, and more often than not think "I'm not gonna drop a fiver on this". In my opinion it needs to have enough content and of a quality to make it worth the price.

Sure some people aren't that bothered by £5 a month, its not that much. But some, namely the younger players or students, are.

If its cheaper than AI, I reckon money would be made through quantity of sales rather than margin per sale.

And sorry to compare to AI again, but it is the only comparison there is.

I'd probably buy it if it sold in Manchester airport. I've never seen a copy of Airsoft International or whatever the hell it is called being sold in a WH Smiths in any airport I have been to. It's the only place I buy magazines too before I fly.

I highly doubt you are going to see a magazine about anything firearm related (replica or otherwise) in an airport :P

As for cost comparison, if it offers better than AI and is under a £5 then i may look into it, will see how it is in the first issue.

I'm fairly confident I have seen the likes of Airgunner and Gun Mart in a few of the WH Smiths at Manchester airport.

But Airgunner, come on that is not as bad as seeing a magazine with a guy dressed like a member of the US Armed Forces emblazoned across it. Though it may also be that you have to pay extra to get a magazine into an airport newstand than just the shops.

Some bloke looking at pictures of shotguns from the likes of gunmart is gonna terrify someone going to Benidorm in the departure lounge alot more that someone looking at pictures protraying the Forces of Freedom in this world. :)

Hi Guys,

I cannot give you the exact price (for obvious reasons) but yes, it will be less than a fiver.

As to finding it at WH Smiths in Manchester airport...

Not too sure about that and is something I'll check with Blaze and our Distributor.

I don't think it has anything to do with the cover picture though, as that would involve each issue being scrutinised for "acceptability" and I don't think there is anything like that in place.

It is more likely because the main distribution through WH Smith is via their High Street shops, which is where they get the biggest footfall and where they are most likely to make the most profit.

Let's face it, "Airsoft" is a niche/specialist market and WH Smith will want to place the mag where they are most likely to sell it so, from a purely commercial standpoint, that wouldn't be in Airports and Stations etc.

Good point though, so I'll check it out and come back to you.

Slasher Out.

Well i remember the time i had a copy of AI i had bought a few days prior to a flight, should have seen the look on the stewards face when he came down the aisle to hand out drinks to see me reading an article on 'how to draw a pistol'.

In my defence i only bought the copy of AI because 1. only monthly out there and 2. i had a long flight and didn't want to faff around with electronics and all that rubbish.

It's quite common for the flights I get to have alot of active duty military, either spam or Brit. It's so common for arrivals and departures in Bahrain that customs didn't even blink when they pulled a plate carrier out of my hand luggage, they were looking for something else.

  • 1 month later...

Hope to find this when it hits, will there be any international subscriptions and the like? I was able to get AI in small amounts in the states from only one specific bookstore. And once I came to Japan and saw a real Airsoft and militaria magazine I realized AI was not up to snuff so I am looking forward to seeing this magazine and see how it compares.
