VFC MP5 (Umarex Licensed)

Recommended Posts

I tried the ready fighter valve kit as well. It worked well... for about 100 shots, then the valve blew in half. I replaced it with another one and that one blew in half as well. So I wasnt about to try those again. At least the KWA flute valves are aluminum and wont break so easily.

PDW conversion kit for VFC MP5k   Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

Mine shoots like a charm and I have it for two years now.Well I don't field it every weekend but I do some firing every once in a while.

so what are the parts that needs to be replaced? And is there something that'll stop the selector from moving beyond the "Safe, Semi, Auto" positions? (Watching that german review AATV shows it can move beyond) I figure, WE will be the samething: Must replace all internals as well. I'll probably just sand down the "6mm bb" part. Can I use a Real HK MP5 cocking tube?

Let me know what parts to replace to get this running good. I'm gonna pick one up, Love the MP5 platform!

You dont need to replace any of the internals of a WE. They actually work out of the box with good range, accuracy and reliablity. Especially since WEs can fire further than 30ft within a 10ft grouping....

10 feet grouping?

How can a grouping with spread of 10 feet be good even for a distance of 30 feet?

Do you mean 1 foot?

And another quesion...

Did anybody try to install a collapsible stock other than VFC's?

Is the MP-5 compatible with any other stock and if yes with what

kind of modifications?

The gun is not very accurate...my stock Marui P226E2 is much more accurate in longer distances. Given that I use it for indoor games, it does the job well.

I installed an H&K "F" stock. You slightly shorten the buffer...about 1mm. Just file it down. I did it anyway so the bolt locks out easier, otherwise it prevents it the cocking tube from going all the way back.

The only modification I've done is the Azimuth nozzle and magazine followers. Otherwise, it's 100% stock and works ok. Mine came with two recoil springs, one weaker than the other. I use only the weaker one. It's also the semi-auto only model which doesn't destroy the stock bolt carrier. Out of four magazines, I had to replace the base plate gasket on two...it completely failed.

Nope, I meant when I had my VFC the maximum range was about 30ft the group was about 6ft - 10ft out of the box on full auto. 3 - 5ft on Semi auto.

My WE rifles, about 7 different models, would range 160ft - 180ft with a 1ft group at the end of the maximum range.

As LordEPlus said they are reliable, a million times more than the VFC, up to around 10K rounds then issues form but a new set of stock internals brings it back to life for around £50 - £60

I was thinking of something cheaper than VFC's stock.  :D

Oddly, My Mp5 is on par with my VSR-10 at about 75-ish feet. Im not sure what was wrong with yours but mine is a laserbeam. No problem hitting soda bottles every shot on semi. Are you sure your hopup isnt screwed up or your barrel misaligned? Of all the things I can say negative about the VFC Mp5, the accuracy isnt one of them.

Well, I have been away for a while, and see my review is still going strong!! :D   So, after over a year after writing my initial review do I still feel the same way about this gun?

Well, there is still no sign of the WE MP5, so I guess we will probably never see that one, so that leaves no choice still if you want a gas MP5.  I would like to mention that I also have an Escort MP5 and do not consider it anywhere near as good as this gbb.  In fact, the Systema MP5 is the only model I have not owned (I like the MP5!)

I do not currently use my vfc.  The main reason for this is due to the mags, the leaky leaky mags that I now experience, all three of them leak.  I still do not have much time to strip and repair my gun so it sadly stays well maintained but leaky and in need of a silicone bath.

I also found that sometimes the bbs would drop straight away, not even going about 10 feet!  This is really frustrating, and happens with all of my mags as and when.  Removing my mag and reinserting it seems to solve the problem, but most often the damage is done by then and I have been shot.

I would still use this gun if the mags didnt all leak, so dont be put off by the fact that I dont use it, it is still a really nice gun.  In fact, I have ordered the G36 finally this week after taking so long to do so!!

Nothing else on my gun has failed, but due to the leaky mags it doesnt get much use at all anymore.  Would I still recommend this gun?????  The answer is still a definate yes, it is a lovely gun.  If you have the time which I dont, then upgrade everything that you can, especially the magazines!!!  Gas guns are definately not for everyone, as you do need to maintain them in order to keep them working properly, but I feel that the effort is worth it.

This is about what I have on my stock semi-auto gun. I use .25's at about 75 degrees using 134A...within these conditions, it chronos starting at 300 and dropping down to 200 fps on the last shot. At 25 feet, the grouping improves slightly to about 1 to 3 feet.

I have a YE MP5, which I understand Escort is an exact copy of, and it's a much more superior design. I run my YE MP5 on HPA and it's my opinion that HPA will almost always out perform liquid charged guns, especially since there's no reliance on the vaporization of a liquid propellant. Yes, the YE MP5 is very difficult to make reliable, but once it's tuned it's one of the best in my small collection and will out perform my VFC in any condition.

In my opinion, a gun without a proper magazine is pretty useless. The magazine in general is just a poor design starting with the base plate gasket. When it failed I could not repair it by soaking in silicone alone (I've tried a combination of oil, teflon tape, etc...I cannot find a reasonable way to repair it. Once it failed, I had to  replace it with a new VFC made gasket). The double shell is also probably not a good design as I have a feeling it's not allowing enough heat into the inner tank which causes the large drop in FPS per shot, even in semi-auto. The magazines are also tremendously difficult to disassemble and maintain properly.

As LordEPlus mentioned in a few posts above, keep the internals stock and replace as it fails.

I dont like quoting pictures, but I cannot shoot that!  Saw parts from WE well over a year ago, and still pictures of a few parts is all I see.  I didnt get any reply from them when I tried to email them, so as far as I am concerned this probably aint gonna happen.

With regards to the Escort/YE MP5, the dimensions are all off, a big upset for me, more than the performance of the gun, although it seems to be pretty easy to slip the collar on the YE design. consistancy wise, yes it is better due to the design, so tuning for accuracy is more consistant.  Recoil is better and it makes a bigger bang, the hpa tank doesnt bother me as you can run the hose along the sling, but there is just something about the whole gun that I dont feel is as good, just my opinion.

So the three major problems with this replica are:

1. terrible, leaky mags

2. terrible cool down effect

3. iffy accuracy

A fix for #1 and #2 could be the C02 mags but there are no reviews or first hand experiences regarding these mags.  Has anyone tried the C02 mags?  All the videos I have seen, there has been virtually no cool down.  Of course C02 brings the FPS up about 50 FPS so modifying the nozzle will be necessary to get 350FPS.  Looking at the aftermarket floating valves on WGC, I have no idea how to modify for lower/higher FPS as it doesn't resemble the WA valves at all.  I am OK with permanently modifying a nozzle for CQB and one stock for field.

For #3, does the MP5 take AEG rubbers and barrels?

It takes Marui/WE floating valves.  You can buy flow limiting valves for the VFC MP5, my friend bought some for upping his MP7.

Similarly you can use the Marui MP7 floating valve and get an FPS drop with that.

Normally I go the other way, usually making them shoot at some crazy FPS.

I haven't tried an AEG hop rubber on it.

I took the VFC MP5s apart and while the hop rubber resembles an AEG rubber it doesn't have the same lip, so its similar to an A&K M249 hop rubber.

I don't know if the hop unit can fit a normal AEG rubber.  But like the VFC M4s which also use the same VFC hop rubber, the M4 hop unit CAN take the normal AEG hop rubber, so it should fit by assumption and deduction.

However you should always do an FPS check and an accuracy check before and after the mod.

Though I find that if you take the barrel out, remove the hop up unit and rubber and spray some degreaser into it and some some patches/tissue paper into it, I find that you will see a lot of gunk from factory.  Similarly getting rid of the excess silicone in the barrel and hop rubber (with a lot of detergent) will increase the accuracy.

There are also aftermarket aluminum hopup chambers that take AEG buckings. I have one in mine since I didnt trust the pot metal (perhaps foolishly). But, I also had another Mp5sd with the stock hopup. I found both to shoot VERY well.

As Ive previously stated, or all the things I could complain about with the vfc mp5, the accuracy is not one of them. the Mp5sd shot laser beams and the Mp5a3 isn't far off.

OK, I have been looking for low flow TM valve's but I can't find any as they all seem to be extra power valves.  Can someone point me in the right direction?

I did find this:

http://www.wgcshop.com/wgc2008/main/product_detail1.php?search_From=searchItem&item=AZI-PT-VFCMP5CB&search=special&rs=vfc mp5&catid=&cat=

It comes with two springs for different power levels.  Looks like one has one less coil than the other so I'm assuming the one with less coils is lower power?  If that is correct, could I just keep cutting coils until 350FPS is reached using C02 mags?

Dont bother. I tried those too. The "low" spring was shooting about 400fps on green gas, and the High spring was around 450.

How I dropped my FPS a lot was to use a KWA NS2 flute valve. I had to file it a little to fit, but it dropped my velocity to about 370 for the first shot, and 360-ish for the subsequent shots. the FPS fluctuates like crazy though. Not consixstant at all, but at least I can use it. I figure for CQB it isnt such a big deal.

I wanna try dropping some TM knockoff M9 valves in and see what they do. Probably break.
