RS Grip Screws in a TM 1911 upgraded with a MBK

I recently bought a TM / MEU 1911 based Redwolf limited edition Nighthawk Talon. Prior to buying it, I started doing research into the RS vs licensed replica, and I quickly discovered that there were an insane amount of aesthetic inaccuracies in the licensed version that Redwolf accepted as a cost cutting measure. I've got my gun fixed up as far as I can at this time. One thing that is still bugging me are the grip screws. RW used flat head screws, whereas the RS version uses hex head screws.

I've found RS Nighthawk hex head screws here:

http://www.nighthawkcustom.com/detail.aspx?ID=45#

And they're a heck of a lot cheaper than the AS Hex head screws:

http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/Accessories_Metal_Bodies_Slides_GBB_Airsoft_Surgeon_Hex_Screw_set_for_Marui_1911_Stainless_Steel_Black.htm

I was wondering if anyone knew if most TM 1911 metal body kits out there accepted RS grip screws? I ran multiple searches and came up with nothing regarding 1911 MBKs and RS Grip screw compatibility.

I think it depends on the metal body kit. I have a NOVA kit on my MEU and it didn't like the grip screw bushings I bought from Brownell's and the Ed Brown screws. I'll pull out the feeler gauges if you want and get you the TPI of the Airsoft Surgeon screws I'm using.

Yeah ... I think I'm just going to go ahead and use the Airsoft Surgeon hex screws. I've tried screws from some of my other guns which I know are airsoft standard rather than RS standard, and the gun definitely uses airsoft standard screws. Which kinda sucks, but it is what it is. Thanks Piano!

USMC,

The RS screw grip wont fit the hurricane and prowin 1911 mbk too. Proud made an adaptor for the RS screw but it dont fit my prowin kit. I cant remember if it fit the hurricane kit.PIR179 Proud Screw Bushings For Prime 1911 Conversion Kit (GRIP05) - Dentrin

The only way to fit the rs screw will cost more than the difference in the screw price :P...

if you need it for the aesthetic, then do what I did and buy http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=0/sku=080598150/sku/

But you can have plenty of 1911 to convert after you get it.. I'm using VZ grips right now, and getting some from Alumagrips too.
