mightyjebus
hi guys, the exploded diagram shows the outer barrel having a thread at the front. (parts 1, 2, 3 and 138). can anyone confirm if the barrel is threaded and if so what thread?
gisburn20
The front of the standard outer barrel is threaded -14mm with a cap to cover it and protect the thread, the threaded section is also removeable as it forms the end of the outer barrel and has flats cut into it to use a wrench on this is clockwise threaded so watch out when you tighten down a silencer (-14mm) you may unscrew the threaded barrel end! %Jim
mightyjebus
thanks any idea how thick the outer barrel is? i'm looking to get a flash hider/comp but I would like it to sit flush with the barrel oh and does -14mm equal 1/2" -28 in old money?
Black!
you can laugh at me westy but im acutually gona wait for your video first haha
WestyIII
Black: Just have a whirl, it isn't too tricky, honest, you may have to wait a while for a video ! Fishing line and a spare pair of hands is key I think. But would love to see how others did it! Mighty Jebus:- 14mm = 0.551 inches - according to Mr Google.
mightyjebus
i'm trying to figure out if this will fit the threaded adapter link
gisburn20
I dont think the thread will work, but I bet if you ask around on here someone could make you one that would fit, or be able to adapt it in some manner. Jim
vorpalbunnie
Jebus, I could've sworn that G&P makes a comp just like that one.
mightyjebus
i'll mod it myself once it turns up if needed and let you lot on here know if it fits so you can all rush out and buy them
U-TAG
Jebus, I could've sworn that G&P makes a comp just like that one. They do a KAC one which is very similar, but not quite what he's after I think. Also this won't fit since it's got a diameter of about 12.7mm you would need someone with access to a lathe to bore it out and rethread it.

U-TAG
Lol Brute force usually wins, you could also grind it out, fit a threaded collar inside the new cavity and press it to fit?
gisburn20
We have some talented engineers on the forum, I would be surprised if they couldn't make one from scratch for less than that costs (with the correct thread already...) There could be a fair market for 10/22 parts, you could ask Lees Precision Engineering? Jim
mightyjebus
you're right there are a fair few talented engineers on here, it probably could be done for less, there is indeed a large market for the 10/22 and I actually have access to a very good engineer who could do it in about a week..... or I could attack it with a large drill. mightyjebus
and I can always blame the drill, drill bit, work bench and the dog for when it goes wrong.

mightyjebus
rightio, Got my free 10/22 (thanks Redwolf!) and I've spent the day fitting a new stock and iron sights. As thought the front comp doesn't fit so I'll look at options to make it fit. Fitting the stock was a pain but it's in there now. I need a certain bolt as I'm using a screw to hold it to the stock at the front. Internally stock but I'll need to downgrade it which I think is mentioned earlier in this thread. mightyjebus
I'm looking at having either 350 or 400 and would like to switch between the 2. someone on here mentioned using the KJW NPAS kit but I'm not sure if it's a straight fit. Oh and anyone got any tips on mag pouches?
Londo
Hey, I know these sights
mightyjebus
and very good they are to! Thought I'd update the pictures as I have modded it slightly. Lower scope mounts chopped the RIS rail to a smaller size moved the rear sight backwards I either need to fill in the 2 small holes on top of the barrel or replace the whole barrel with one of the longer ones. I haven't quite decided which way to go yet.
mightyjebus
After looking for some mag pouches I thought it might just be best to make some.......
