Grip, stock and forend should work. I might be able to cram a WE AK 47 PMC magazine in an RS MAGPUL AK shell... What do you guys think of this? Original on top, Photoshop mock-up below. Ambi charing handle mod and RMR included in illustration. Black, Grey or FDE? Problem is, if I can't get the PMAG on there, it kind of feels like a fail, right? EDIT: Actually, just looking back and forth on this for the last 30 minutes, it's not a question of if, but WHEN Early Christmas gift to myself ! renegadecow Posted November 7, 2015 Report Share Posted November 7, 2015 Right now they don't make those parts for an AKS74U and even the MOE stock is for a fixed 74 or AKM. Suffice to say it would be a lot less headache for you if you start on a WE PMC instead of the 74UN or wait until Magpul releases AKS74U compatible parts. 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Or get a WE AK PMC reciever and build from there. EDIT: Based on my PS overlay skills it seems like all I would really need is the PMC reciever. renegadecow Posted November 7, 2015 Report Share Posted November 7, 2015 Well, given enough time and effort there are a couple ways you can stick that stock on the folding receiver (bodge the MOE and the top half of the folding stock together or put in a new rear trunnion). The problem with starting on a PMC receiver only is that I'm not sure if they're even available alone hence my suggestion of starting on a whole new gun. Another thing that doesn't line up is how you photoshopped the handguard on. It's sitting way far back into the receiver and am unsure if this is even doable as in the front of the receiver might not have anything to mount against at that point and looks like it might actually protrude out of the grip at the bottom edge. It's bloody expensive though. Best deal in Asia is $340 USD without shipping. Would you believe Swedish shops want $800 USD for one? Has a rate of fire and recoil to boot, both power (390fps on 0.25g) and accuracy is surprisingly good. Fires 2 mags on full auto before it runs out of gas, which is quite a feat given the WE AK platforms are very very gas hungry. Downside....mags are way too heavy as a PDW. NonEx Posted November 11, 2015 Report Share Posted November 11, 2015 I realized why my Photoshoped handguard looks wrong. I used the mid-lenght one and it's not AKM compatible. I have to get the shortest one that also has a cutout (not required for me) for a side sling mount on the left hand side of the barrel/handguard mount thingy. Also checked some installation videos to get an idea of how it works. I _think_ I can pull it off even if the WE PMC receiver is not 100% RS spec. I shall give it a try! Trying to decide between Black, Gray or FDE MAGPUL stuffs... Yaargh. Oh and KIC got back to me saying they will ship out my PMC receiver and PMC mag shortly Quote Link to post Share on other sites

NonEx Posted November 13, 2015 Report Share Posted November 13, 2015 Noticed that the pistol grip mounts differently on WE vs RS AK as well. The hammer housing in the WE AK has a tang going down towards the grip where the screw attaches. I think that should be pretty easy to work around though. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

The WE grip also has little tabs that go into little slots into the receiver while the RS grips do not but they fit over them without a problem. 2 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Receiver looks identical with the exception of no holes for the folding stock and the full stock trunion mount at the back. Will transfer internals today to verify it works. MAGPUL stuff still incoming. Also if this was not already known, PMC mags work without problems in the 74UN I do think I read somwhere that RS spec. fixed receivers have to be modded a bit to fit in the back of the WE because there is extra hardware there that the RS does not have.
