I think he's misquoting General John Sedgwick, whose famous last words were "They couldn't hit an elephant at this distance!" a few seconds before being killed by a confedarate sharpshooter. They just didn't have scopes, but they had like a modified rifle or something, I can't remember exactly. And actually, this suprised me, the sniper program was demolished before WWI, so there were no actual snipers in that war. And in WWII, it was slowly getting started again, but not in abundance, like it is now. Anyway, back to the original topic: "Don't worry, these are the good kind of mushrooms" "Is that gas I smell?"
