amateurstuntman
Anyone seen it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXcoIN6tqXY Basically it is this: PC World: We're *fruitcage* evil and we know it. We're so evil Darth Vader is our training consultant. Couldn't they get Yoda?
Habakure
I've just seen this on the tele. Got to say, I prefer the one from last year (still wouldn't go to PC World or Currys though).
ED-SKaR
Its a shame they never station any of their well trained staff in positions where they would, you know, speak to customers.
FireKnife
Its a shame they never station any of their well trained staff in positions where they would, you know, speak to customers. Wait, they have well trained staff? When they are a company that sends a trained plumber (i say trained, Currys trained) to fix a Windows 7 PC then you know they are *suitcase*. But hey the add works, Tescos and the Co-op should have an ad like this as lets face it in 20-30 years Tescos is bascially going to be The Empire and we are going to have to rebel against them owning everything 'FireKnife'
amateurstuntman
PC world. Con: The one near me has a 3' tall banner along the wall stating "10% OFF ALL TV'S" - come on, before you print something 3 feet tall would you please spell check the damn thing! Pro: I got Windows 7 £10 cheaper than I could find in online and I didn't have to pay for postage and I was able to go into the shop, buy it and go home and install it. FireKnife
I got in free, but that is another story. PC World is basically Z1, it sells some cool stuff at £10 less than everyone else, but you are *fruitcage*-d if you try and get anything fixed, refunded or supported by them. Cannonfodder80
I got in free, but that is another story. PC World is basically Z1, Does this mean I'll be banned from their store if I talk about another shop while browsing?
LordElpus
not at all. you will be escorted out the back of the shop and killed.
ED-SKaR
not at all. you will be escorted out the back of the shop and killed. So it IS like Z1!

'FireKnife' Must just me the PC world near me or I am somewhat intimidating but that has not been my experience. Sure, you can't expect a decent answer on anything technical. That's your fault though, you should have done your research before you even go in the shop. I have never, ever had a problem with returning anything. I look back perfectly functional RAM because I bought it as an upgrade and then decided to do the whole MoBo and needed a different type. No problem. Took back a gaming mouse because I didn't like the way it felt in my hand. No problem. Must just be lucky.
FireKnife
Does this mean I'll be banned from their store if I talk about another shop while browsing? Yep, However i find that every PC World have been to has been badly run and staffed, yes of course have shop floor people that can deal with the customers who just want a basic idea of what they want but come on at least have someone that knows the difference between RAM and Hard Disk memory for people like me that actually want an exact set up. On another note, i got asked 'why are YOU shopping here?' by a guy in HMV, think he was annoyed as when he tried to poach customers from GAME on the MW3 launch i told him to go away and deal with his 10 customers while we deal with our 100 'FireKnife'
Shardik
I prefer HMV. But regarding PC world, I havent ever had any issues, and I have been shopping in the place for the past decade. Three stores near me too. All of them seem to have helpfull, well trained staff. Then again, I dont expect to be treat like a demi god by the staff and be taken outside for a quick smoke o the ol joe after going tot he customer service desk. Or maybe, Im another lucky one. FireKnife
Well it may all be down to personal preference but when someone works in a shop i would assume they have the slightest inclination about what they are selling not: 'Hi, i am after a desktop with an AMD proccesor dual core that is over 3GHz, at least 2GB of RAM and a standard Hard Drive of 320GB.' 'Erm well we have this erm, Dell, which comes with Windows 7 Starter?' 'Yeah i will just go ask someone else then ok.' 'Well i'm the IT guy in this store so don't think any of the other guys can really help you with what your after.' At this point i left the person to stare at the pretty screensavers and left the store. I prefer HMV. So do i, they have no security protocols on their display laptops so i can just pop in and check my emails for free Plus i did prefer them to GAME and Gamestation due to cost difference but hey now i get discount it is the other way round, plus HMV weren't after staff 'FireKnife'
Cannonfodder80
I prefer HMV. So does Gary Glitter after his last trip to PC World Fireknife, you mean you havn't gone on one of the display laptops, done a google search for midget donkey porn, clicked on the first link and walked away? FireKnife
Fireknife, you mean you havn't gone on one of the display laptops, done a google search for midget donkey porn, clicked on the first link and walked away? Oddly they blocked Google, but they didn't seem to think to block Hotmail and Gmail Saying that i am tempted, just to see how long it takes them to sort it out. However i just can't get on with PC World, but saying that in a few years they will be like Tescos and Asda and will have pushed out all the other groups leaving it to a slug out between internet purchases and PC World / Curry only.
