Yep, go for it. It's different from all the semi autos, and it's fun to have a change once in a while. I'm sure if I gas the gun all the way with green gas, it'd have 100 shots at least. After all, it's like an NBB, and no gas is wasted on moving slides.

well i just bought myself the Clint eastwood trilogy( a fistfull of dollars,for a few dollars more , The Good The Bad and The Ugly)

 

cool movies, eastwood is pretty much the fastest gun in the west and he spins sometimes

Updates:

 

1) Either I missed this upon my first inspection, or this just happened yesterday, there's a big spot on the back of the grip that doesn't have the nice silver finish. It's not the silver finish peeling off because the surface is still very smooth, but it's just a spot (see photo). Those more experienced with silver airsoft guns, any ideas? Is it because I've been gripping it too much?

 

2) Can not practice fast draw, yet, because I have no holster for the SAA, and I don't want to just tuck it in my belt.

 

3) Fast shooting, however, was feasible. I was using my left hand to cock and right hand to shoot as fast as I can like cowboy does, and while the parts are tough enough to withstand the abuse, one problem did arise: if not cock the hammer completely back before pulling the trigger, the spring behind the lever that pushes the cylinder to revolve tend to shift out of place, and consequently, the cylinder stops revolving when cocking.

 

I stripped down the gun

 

and found the parts

 

Normally, the spring sits in the above part pretty tight. I must have been trying to shoot tooo fast. The lever seems to be pretty strong, and I don't think it'll break easily. It's just the spring might shift out every now and then under heavy abuse.

 

While stripping the gun, I notice a few other things. You certainly need screw driver to unscrew the screws, which there are quite a few. The srews seem to be well made, and are metal. The screw holes also have metal insert, and should be fairly duable

To get the cylinder out, you need to use a special supplied tool, and I don't know if the cylinder on a real SAA can be stripped out without any tools. (The creators of MGS3 seem to believe so).

 

Oh one last thing, there is fixed hop up.

Did you get to the bottom of the black spot? Is it possible it's just tarnished? The silver finish was just TOO shiney for me, which is why I sold mine.

 

I had a 4 3/4" barrel Civilian which chronoed 228 fps at 12C on 134a and 299 fps at 13C on Abbey Ultra - I'd expect the longer Artillery to give a little more power.

Unfortunately, I still have no clue what caused it. It's so big that it seemed unlikely that I missed it when I first inspected, but I had to admit that my first inspection was focused on the frame/barrel/cylinder. My current theory is that I gripped it so much that some oxidation reaction occured. I have been playing with it for the past several days. I don't know. The surface is still smooth, so maybe it was there all this time. I was hoping you or Redhawk can shed some lights on this issue.

 

I can't believe you sold yours. Wouldn't a real silver finished gun be just as shiny? ( never seen a real silver one, so just speculating). Powerwise, using SAA with 134a is similar to my KJW M9 with green from my box shooting tests. I don't see me selling this one anytime soon if at all.

I'm sure the finish is VERY accurate, but it just wasn't to my taste.

 

I hated the fact that EVERY time I touched it, it was covered in finger prints. For my review shots, I had to resort to wearing cotton gloves to move it around!

 

I toyed with the idea of getting a longer barreled black version, but with the likely ban I'm holding off and, truth is, I was never really much of a Cowboy fan anyway

Hehe, yea, my SAA's got fingerprints everywhere now. But they are easy to wipe off too.

 

Anyways, when I was looking for real wood grips, I saw there are three generations, but they all look more or less the same. Does the Tanaka SAA have the 1st generation grip?

hello there,

 

I got a SAA today which is a total POS since it has the similar problem of other tanakas which "hooks", not the guns fault though, but i blame it on being used too much since jungle toy sold me the one that was used for display since two or three months ago, i asked him to fire it and he pulled it out of the glass counter and shot it of course, but until now it was the same one that was left today, and i had to buy it in person instead of online. Though I truly love the look of it.

 

Well just to let you know, in real life, and the airsoft version, you can hold the trigger while pulling back the hammer.

 

Oh and how do you get the cylinder out? I really didnt know what that tool was for and where to put it. Also, what is the allen key for?

 

Help will be appreciated

What do you mean by it "hooks?"

Didn't yours come with a manual? To take the cylinder out, you'll first have to take off the grip be unscrewing all those screws on the grip. The grip is made of two pieces, the upper and the lower that connects to the trigger guard. After taking off the grip, you can take out the trigger and hammer mechanism. Now you use that big tool comes with the gun to unscrew the "firing pin" on the cylinder, then pushing the pin infront of the cylinder and slide out the cylinder guide in front of the cylinder, and now you can slide the cylinder out from the side.

 

Anyways, I was also wondering what the allen key and the tiny o-ring are for.

 

Oh, just got Tombstone. Got to go watch it later since the girlfriend wants to watch some other things now.

For some reason, buying SAAs from Jungle Toy do not include a manual. I have no idea why. It comes with a sheet that tells you how to shoot it, and how to gas it up. That's it. I wouldn't worry about taking it apart without first returning it to Jungle Toy and asking for a replacement.

And my SAA didn't come with a guide other than a note that tells how to load the gas. THe gun I got is considered to be a jungle toy special by some people at airsoft retreat with a review here

funny, mine doesn't shoot to the right at all (as can be seen in the shooting test result posted eariler), but then again mine is not one of the JT ones (I do like those JT grips).

For the Coke can test to have any usefulness (which it doesn't) I think you'd also have to state whether it was a steel or aluminium one.

well i think it has its usefulness,if it shoots thru a coke(cocacola or redbull) can, than you know you shouldn't fire at people at close range, which can happen in a fight from the adrenaline rush.

 

my point---> know your gun and its abilities.

 

but I could be wrong cause i have no gasgun(bb) in any form except a co2 Walther cp99 that shoots 4.5mm pellets(not to shoot at people)
