Ford tdci engines have their own issues , bloody egr valve death caused by carbon / oil buildup , does a good job of carbon ing / slugging up the turbo feed oil pipes and kills the engine / turbo QuickTime . Can be caused by Injector seal leaks .

every diesel engine since about 2002 has got EGR. Ergo, every diesel engine since about 2002 will have some form of issues with the EGR system.

My Corrado was averaging at around 34ish MPG on the DRIVE HOME FROM THE GARAGE THE OTHER DAY YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

(to the tune of Frosty the Snowman)

Rusty the 'Rado!

Was a happy sporty car!

With a patched exhaust and a duct-tape wing,

And a chassis full of holes.

Rusty the 'Rado,

It's a miracle they say!

It's made of rust and bits of string but passed MoT today!

There must have been some bribing at that garage that Tink found,

For when poor Rusty first arrived, his 'zorst dragged on the ground!

OH RUSTY THE 'RADO!

He's alive as he can be!

And the Tink-man say he can drive and play,

just the same as Stunt's Octy!

My old MK2 Escort got 9mpg.

My Octavia did 46 with the wife driving and high teens with me driving.

Americans:

Don't forget our gallons are bigger than yours.

A gallon is 8 pints (here and there).

In America a pint is 16 fluid ounces, that is why a pint of water in America weighs a pound.

The phrase "a pint is a pound the world around" that they teach in America is wrong though because:

In the UK and elsewhere a pint is 20 fluid ounces.

So, in America a gallon is 128 fluid ounces and in the UK it is 160 fluid ounces.

Because there are 28.4ml in a fluid ounce that means that there are:

3.635 litres in an American gallon and

4.544 litres in a British gallon

Since a mile is the same then our mpg figures are different, yours are 80% of ours.

So, if you get 40mpg the same car will get 50mpg in the UK.

However, our petrol is better than your nonsense too, higher octane values.  So a modern car with a turbo, a knock detector and automatic ignition advance can extract more power from it and therefore go further (or faster) for the same amount of fuel.

So it could do as much as 55mpg in the UK.

So there's that.

So our beer is stronger AND our pints are bigger?

Maybe, bars are usually good at that.

As for the stronger beer, that's all depending where you go.

Most state are dry, get caught and you can be tried for bootleging.

Some states there bud heavy is only 3.2% where the norm is around 5% per volume.

We are a liquor country, beer is for the kids.

I don't understand why is it different over there? It's still the same car?

Our fuels are different (better) and our gallons are bigger.

In the UK normal petrol is 95 RON, decent stuff is 97 to 102.

In the US "pump gas" is 91, European cars sold there have to be extensively retuned to perform properly.

The main reason nobody cares is that big lazy NA V8s with low compression ratios (American cars) get by OK on *suitcasey* petrol.

High compression ratio engines (S2000) or turbo charged engines like higher RON fuel and pollute less per HP.

Ever wondered why the Dodge Viper with its 8 litre V10 only made 500hp while the 4.2 litre Audi V8 in a B7 RS4 made 414 or the 2l turbo in an Evo MR FQ made 400?

That's why.

There are a few custom places in the US that understand engine tuning but Europe is way ahead.

Fuel is a part of it but again the ecu design is now the major cause for great running motor's.

Also if BMW designed an American v8 in an American car it would cost twice as much.

How is it a 60k vette pails in comparison to a i6 BMW? American corporations suck more money from an already poor community. The rich don't care they don't buy american, just the *suitcase* gas.

Yeah I read your explanation after as it was on the previous page! Quite an interesting read actually!

Yep. Cleaned the egr and she's a lot better for it :)

I remember when our fuel was 97 Ron as standard. Now 95 ron is normal and 97 is 'premium'?

*fruitcage* oil company *badger*s stitching everyone up.

Not here, that car would do 40 mpg and pollute 10 times more.

I hate this land of the free to kill everyone.

I don't understand why is it different over there? It's still the same car?

There is new solar panel tech out there that looks like just a normal window. So a few batteries should keep me good for a while. Then sell that excess energy to the grid, then I need an electric car and then figure out water and plumbing.

In USA is illegal to collect rain water.

Here you can install a rainwater catch system with a buried tank and the local government will give you a discount on your water bills.

I believe the American rule is to prevent people from catching all the water over a huge area and preventing it from getting into the aquifer.

The water in the aquifer is for everyone.

Already they are paying land owners in drier states to rip up concrete drives (rainwater goes into drains and out to sea/causes flash floods) and replace them with grass (rainwater goes into the aquifer).

Of course you can't water the grass.

Water rights in the usa is a really complex thing. Some states are so desperate for water that runoff is transfered somewhere and they argue that preventing runoff from leaving your property is preventing others from accessing their water rights.

It's not in every state though.

Food price will spike j the usa next year because the *fruitcage*wits in California are so focused on keeping the rich city liberals happy they have ravaged north cali's water access. Plenty of farms in North cali have nothing planted as the state gov has decided to reduce their allowed water use to the point they can't irrigate the fields.

All so the city and suburbs can have pools and wash the cars. It's partially politically motivated as the northern rural counties vote red and the extremist left wing in control will use the system to find ways of punishing them for that.
