Schnitzel with noodles - what made you smile today?

I took out a payday loan to help tide me over. I don't know why, I should've realised I couldn't afford it. Shortly after that I ended up in my financial predicament with about 3.5k I supposedly owed, so no chance in hell of paying it off.

The loan company sent me an emaio today saying they hadn't conducted suitable affordability checks and therefore would clear my debt and set my balance to zero.

Well a lot of these payday loans people have been caught out.

But I bet for every £100 they give back there is another poor sod that wont see there own £100 back.

Plus it doesn't help that they, along with the 'ambulance chasers' have bought up all the airtime for commercials at peak times when people on JSA or working low income jobs are watching. Harsh to say but you can tell they are just preying on the weak willed or the unfortunate.

Still very glad to hear it has been sorted for you :).

Still leaves me with about £1200 to sort (which is another can of worms, I might try and talk to the courts again as it wasn't my fault), but its good to scratch one thing off the list, means the money being used to clear the Wonga debt can be put into clearing the rest now.

Hopefully in a year I'll be debt free (even if I have to put funds in from birthdays/Christmas, yes I still get some money as my family know the wage I make is sod all for how hard I work). I'm certainly very grateful they've deemed it one of the cases they can clear. Then onto working on improving credit score (yes this means a crappy rate credit card but using it only to help boost my score, not as actual capital).

If I ever have kids though I'm definitely going to tell them if they get into financial difficulties to speak to me before applying for loans though.  A loan from Bank of Dad will most likely have lower interest rates and be more flexible with repayment. :P

The bank of dad where I'm from employs the dual policies "go *fruitcage* yourself - it's for your own good" and "I can't help, I'm still paying the debts from sending you to boarding school".

I was up to my nipples in debt in the winter of 2001 - entirely my own fault naturally.

I sorted my *suitcase* out by joining the army, giving up drinking and being less of an asshat.

I'm in awesome shape now.

Also, just did a 95k bike ride, set off at 0600hrs , picked up a mate who is a full screw in engineers at about 0630hrs then did 64k with him and then another 15k to finish up.

Due to superior general fitness he smashed me on every hill up until the 55k point whereupon my endurance training came in and I started leaving him.

I feel pretty proud.

Also, Borderlands the pre-sequel is out next week.

Whoop!

Got my PPK/S fixed with zero hassle.

Also had a roll filled with about 200g of roast shaved pork, mashed haggis like spread and bbq sauce.

And when I say filled roll I mean about half it filled the roll, the rest was enough to fill the roll again. It was epic.

This is why I love living next to such a varied city, you can always find somewhere that isn't McD, BK, KFC or Subway and have a much better lunch for about the same price :).

FK, would that be Oink on Victoria street? I loved that place.

It t'was and it is epic. £3.95 for a roll, double the amount of pork, haggis and sauce. I might have to make that my backup place for when I go in and the market stalls are a bit hit and miss (which you would expect at a once a week market).

Saying that it did make me laugh when a group of friends with one vegetarian amongst them keep telling the others they wanted to go elsewhere :P.

Applesauce and haggis were always my favourite toppings. Om *fruitcage*in' Nom.

I must admit I am not a fruit and meat together fan. The haggis though was just right, even got served by a rather tasty looking young lady too.

Always a good day when you find a new place you like, which in Edinburgh so far is at least a good five or six (and more if you add in the odd market stalls that appear from time to time like the authentic south American one).

Fair point.  She does seem to have her accounting hat on most of the time even if nothing else :P.  Not like all these rich, debatably famous people filing for bankruptcy. Their financial managers must be laughing all the way to the bank assuming they even had one.
