Pfft, 250g?

Where is the Kilo of Coffee!!!

Still got to love the hand crafted in Norfolk bit, I didn't know that is where El Salvador was :P.

'FireKnife'

750g of better coffee, roasted better (its a light roast on most of these, compared to the bitter, horrible, burnt roast on 90% of 'commodity' coffee), and fresher than you'll find outside of a specialist coffee roasters (as smokey barn happens to be).

Single origin, too, none of this blend ######.

El Salvador is where the beans are from (it's in central america, doncha know ;) ), then they're roasted by the guys at smokey barn in small batches.

all this results in an omnomnomnomious cup of coffee. :D

That coffee looks very nice, Tink.

What are you using to make it?

Aeropress - inverted brewing method, standard paper filters, 1 scoop of beans ground while the kettle's boiling (filtered water, of course) then into my favourite mug. :D

Nice. Been meaning to try an Aeropress, but I'm still kinda loving my Cubika.

Ok, well after such an annoying day of stupid stuff going missing online and such I can say one thing I have been waiting to say for a long, long time now........

I have new job and am leaving Aberdeen in one months time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cue the music, turn up the volume as it's time to celebrate. My new job even puts me within all of 10-15 miles of (in my humble opinion) the UKs most diverse and stunning city, Edinburgh, but not so close as to be hit by bumper to bumper traffic every morning. Finally, oh and if you live and play at a site in the Central Belt I will probably see you around at some point given that most places will be now in easy enough reach for me.

Good drills.

Also, London, diverse - yes. Stunning-ly horrible - yes.

Edinburgh's nice but I will always have a soft spot for Glasgow.

Ahh, Glasgow. Been there. Only place I've seen a burning mattress thrown from a block of flats and the C word spray painted in 4 ft high letters on a bungalow.

Edit: thinking about it, I think the flats in question were notoriously bad and we're flattened.

Nice. Been meaning to try an Aeropress, but I'm still kinda loving my Cubika.

See, I've always avoided 'proper' espresso machines because I know I'll get stupidly into it, end up with a machine that cost more than my PC, myriad tampers and grinders, and spend the first 40 minutes of each morning dicking about trying to make the worlds smallest cup of coffee.

I've never actually had an espresso by itself, to be honest - I've had espresso based drinks (late, mocha, capucino, cortado) etc, but I just like brewed coffee.

Aeropress' are great for somewhere like work where you've only access to a kettle. All you need is ground coffee, hot water and a filter (either paper disposable or you can get reusable, metal ones). Nice and quick, too. I can go from kettle boiling to having a coffee ready to drink in about 2 minutes (including time for the kettle to cool), which is usually enough time to make other peoples horrible instant coffee and horrible tea.

Everybody wins.

FK: congrats, we've all been aware of how much you hate where you are currently, so you shutting the hell up about that sharpish is nothing but good news ;)

I'm tempted to get an aeropress to take camping. I hate having a rubbish bev to start the day.

Haven't been into espresso that long, but kinda got into it hard and fast when i did. Now i have an espresso machine and syrups and all kinds of stuff. Have promised myself i am going to try a turkish coffee at some point too.

Syrups? SYRUPS?!

I thought I'd found a kindred spirit. Alas. ¬_¬

That's the other advantage to brewed coffee - it's a longer drink, so you can properly enjoy the flavours present from the roast.

Aeropress would be great for camping if you've got a manual grinder. Then you just need hot water. Boom. Done.

The bloom on this smokey barn coffee is bloody amazing, too. Jeez.

Erm no, London is a fantastic place to visit but I would not want to live in the heart of it. Too many years of too much effort spent making it up have left it a tad confusing to get round and full of odd concepts and traffic issues. Still I do like a good weekend break there when I get a chance.

Good to hear, hope it goes well.

Thank you, I know I have moaned about it but bugger me it is a dump up here, nothing to redeem it at all :P.

I shall have to visit Glasgow more but I am not sure why but I am drawn to Edinburgh, the clash of design, the hilarious random moments you find from street artists and the interesting places to visit always makes me laugh and enjoy myself.

Also I have now realised that I am moving one hour away from most of the sites I want to visit in the area.

Edinburgh is amazing and I hope to end up back there again soon.

For sites in Edinburgh, look up Taurus Airsoft. I never played there as they set up after I left, but I knew the guys who set it up (they used to run my local site, NCIS-Airsoft) and they are a sound bunch.

Glasgow is nice, but personally I ended up getting tired of people trying to glass/stab/kick me because I was too much of a posh southern fairy who needed the gayboy kicked out of me, presumably because I was capable of enunciating words in their entirety and was still in possession of all of my own teeth.

I'm the same with London - nice for a look. Live there? Hell no.

And cheers, it did go very well!

Thanks for the heads up. My job is just south of Dunfermline so I am considering staying on the south side of the Forth Road Bridge as it looks a bit nicer :P.
