frogfish
Still a little slow for me, and after about 8pm US Eastern Time the site takes about 3 minutes to load the index page. I'm running Google Chrome 17 on OSX10.6. As a note it looks as though my local forum (http://www.reddog20.com/virginiaairsoft/ipb/index.php?) is running the same forum software and is just as slow as this site is, I'm going to try updating a few things and see if it improves. mimesis
The last couple of evenings I've been able to get on the forum and read posts. They still seem to load a little slower than other times of day, but a big improvement over what was happening before.
Samm
Seems to be a bit on and off over the last few days, in the last five minutes I've been having problems with opening pages and them not loading. However if I refresh the page it will appear. Edited April 24, 2012 by Samm
Arnie
I'm keeping an eye on it. I'm still waiting for the techs to come back to me with some advice regaridng backup methods and increasing speed for us all. I'm going to run the IPB 3.3.1 upgrade next week too which should help us majorly
crackisbad
Just happened to me a few minutes ago as well.
Frontiers
Just happened to me a few minutes ago as well. i got it today about same time, as you posted yours i could not access to here for 30mins to 1 hour span. Just got database errors.
Arnie
Yeah that's the backup cycle period, I haven't altered it as to do so would mean we had no backups. Until I add a fix the 4am-5am period (GMT) will be slow.
Samm
Keep getting weird hangs at different times of day, had one about half an hour ago and one at 9.30 this morning. During this time a page simply won't load, it simply stays on "Loading page..." and doesn't even time out! It's not a big one, more a lesson in patience but I presume it's not meant to be happening. EDIT: Just had another one, Firefox crashed this time on the hang (first time that's happened), now I'm starting to suspect that I may be having client side issues too but only on this site. Possible incompatability with my browser and the forum software? Edited May 11, 2012 by Samm
mimesis
I've had two or three server is too busy messages over the last couple of days. Don't know what that is about. If I leave it a couple of minutes it then functions OK. Don't remember having these before.
Aitch
Have you thought about cleaning the forum? empty thread limbo, trim 0 post users remove old unused forums, or imo you need more bandwidth, a lot more £$£$£$
Marlowe
I've been gradually cleaning older / defunct areas of the forums that weren't used / of any relevance or consequence to most members for the past month to try and reduce the demands on the server. If problems persist it might be necessary to remove a lot of the nonposting / stuck in validating limbo accounts.
Arnie
I have booked an upgrade of the forum software as well to the latest version. This includes the latest performance updates and the new speed improvements which will archive off older posts into a different database. There should be no difference when it comes ot usability but it should improve speed no end apparently. This is the 3.3.2 update. I hope they'll let me book it for tomorrow or Monday. Arnie
We are now running the latest forum version which should help with speed. I'm just logging into the new version to look at any issues and tweak things for us.
mimesis
More anecdotal stuff: completely unable to get on the forums at 11 p.m. last night U.S. EST. When I clicked on the Forums link from News page, it just hung there. Sounds like backup processes are still dominant at that hour.
Danke
Pretty sluggish here about 8-9pm Pacific. Hit the enter button for log in and the lights flash for 5 minutes and then you're in. Hit the new posts button and same thing 4-5 minutes before it loads.
Arnie
The backup routine is still running at the moment, I'm still archiving topics/posts at the moment to reduce our overhead to speed up backup time. It's a slow process but it is chugging along.
Marlowe
Rather than the massive variation of non UK times being used on a UK forum, could you please use GMT to record the issues?
Nasty_TheYankWelshOne
About 11 am to 1 pm PST, and about 7 pm to 10 pm PST, it takes ages to load anything, at least for me and some other people in my area. Or 1900-2100 GMT, and 0300-0600 GMT Edited May 18, 2012 by Nasty_TheYankWelshOne
crackisbad
yup, same times as above for me
