Huh, was it James at the booth? O_o

Also, was the PKM at the ACMAirsoft booth?  I didn't bother looking as it didn't seem interesting but seeing the PKM in your pics I might go and ask about it on Thursday XD

No... he found the AF booth last... and only a month old noob was left to man the booth for the last hour.

he knew nothing about the product, so one can only just stop asking... lol.

and Yes PKM in ACm booth.... ;)

The Iron Ridge IRA-X Thor uses a Madbull Daniel Defense 7.62 quad rail. It's a solid gun. 18" barrel. We had a replica URX on there before (as seen at Shot Show 2012) but wanted to stay true to the original. I'll probably make mine into a battle rifle when I get mine. Maybe a 14.5" or 16" barrel with URX 3.1 and STR stock. ;) The fact that it runs the LR20 Midcaps is a huge plus to me. The more battle rifles I have that take those mags the better.

Yeah, that's exactly how I see this subject. I would shorten this beast a bit too.

Somebody said something about a 7.62 Masada. Was there really one there or did he mix it up with the IR Rifle?

Nah, I thought the GBB Masada was a .308, the magwell looked odd.

Also, now that I see Well's offer, it's kinda meh. I thought they did something more on the AEP and GBB front (I wouldn't mind if they copied the Maruzen Skorpion and made it work, like they did with the MP5K), but more butt-ugly springer "sniper" rifles that require a thorough degreasing out of the box? No, thank you.

Just got back home from a long day...anyway:

I have heard some rumors that a WE M1a1 Thompson, and/or an M3a1 grease gun are on the way at some point. Would it be possible to ask James if there is any credence to the rumors?

I know I would love a GBB M1a1, personally. But an actual functioning GBB Mp5 would be absolutely great too, so Im excited to hear that they've said they're on the way.

(Also maybe nudge them about a P38, hehe)

I'll ask if James is there tomorrow.  My friend went again today and he said James wasn't there when he walked past the WE booth.  So I think with that said I might not be able to get more 'concrete answers from the other guy if James isn't at the booth when I get there :P

No... he found the AF booth last... and only a month old noob was left to man the booth for the last hour.
he knew nothing about the product, so one can only just stop asking... lol.

and Yes PKM in ACm booth.... ;)

; I hope I see James tomorrow then XD  If the new guy's there I'll ask the questions anyway, but I don't expect much if that's the case :(

I'll go and ask about the availability of the PKM for the Asian market (it seems like the PKM's only released in the US or something?  Don't remember) along with fps and price.

Somebody said something about a 7.62 Masada. Was there really one there or did he mix it up with the IR Rifle?

With regards to the quote below; I'll ask about a possible 7.62 Masada anyway :P

No News from Real Sword?

RS has never had a booth at the Toy Fair apparently.  So yeah, no news in the HK Toy Fair :P

Do you know the pricing of the a&k ptw? Thanks

Can't quote in an edit for some reason....might as well post again.  Anyway, noted :P

EDIT: Because I don't want to triple post.

If that M2 carbine is an AEG... Or affordable.
The M2 is a springer...all the guns hanging with the M2 Carbine are springers by ASP.

Well at least it'll be affordable then. might be a good base to shove an M14 or Mp7 gearbox inside.

^ I guess I should ask about price, availability and take a few more pics of it then? XD

Also, I was taking a shower just now and remembered that James said something about using blueguns for the dimensions on their pistols...I THINK this was when I mentioned the possibility of the FNP45.  As such, I would imply that for the future WE pistol releases they'll most likely be dimensioned off blueguns as long as it is available for the model of the pistol.  I'll ask again tomorrow.

Nah, I thought the GBB Masada was a .308, the magwell looked odd.

.308 is 7.62x51, but I thought a 7.62x39 variant/conversion kit was already on the market?

The PKM seems to be available specifically though EVIKE at the moment, but there may be a european distributor, as I've seen photos of a european poster with one.

Can't wait for the GBBR MK17, may have to sell me WE EBR to fund it...

7.62 x 39 would be a Masada but wouldn't .308 ie 7.62x 51 be a Masoud?

I'm not into the whole ACR thing but whatever, I'll just ask if they'll plan to do a .308/7.62 NATO version of the ACR :P

Did you ask whether the A&K PTW was using a forged receiver or is it just cast?

And is the outer barrel steel?  I hope not...

I'll note this down and ask when I'm there :P

Why not?

Steel outer barrels which fit smoothly outside of the inner barrel are much better than aluminium barrels for minimising barrel whip.

That and if you want a proper training weapon you would need to replicate the balance of the real deal else it would not be correct.

The point on steel barrels being more stable is spot on... On two conditions:

1.  The inner barrel also needs to be stainless steel, hopefully of the 10mm diameter variety

2.  There needs to be a VERY tight, O-ring sealed fit between the outer and the inner.

As for why not steel:

1.  Airsoft companies rarely do good finishings on steel parts.  The Systema originals are notorious for rusting on all its steel parts.

2.  Increases the weight of the rifle dramatically.  Airsofters outside the US would never be in a position to own a real AR anyway, so any "training value" is rather moot.  But lighter is usually better as skirmishing weapon.

LOL

- Well actually the inner barrel doesn't have to be steel, it just has to fit the outer very tightly.

- Most steel parts do rust; my bushmaster barrel very mildy rusts and hence I keep it oiled, though my norinco M1A doesn't rust for some reason.

- I am not in the US and I own an AR15, AND I have used my VFC M4 on FIBUA training exs...And I complain about my VFC having a light barrel (even though its already an IronAirsoft Mk18 steel barrel)...

Anyways back on topic, can you find out when the PKM will be released in HK?

I'll probably end up double-posting but I need some rest first after a long day :P  The PKM release question was asked and I have it in my notes; give me some time to consolidate all the info and do another huge Q&A post for you guys in a few hours time :)

Personally, I'd like to know when the Mega Arms LM4 is released, and if there's any way KWA will sell the display one to me. :P

Hey guys!

Went back to the Toy Fair today along with Fiddlesticks :P  Anyway, I consolidated the info you guys asked and I went ahead to ask the guys manning the booth today.  But before I get started; I just want to say that I missed the opportunity to talk to James at WE today.  He was very busy when I got there so I decided to come back later once the crowd frees up….but then when I got back he was on coffee break and I had to leave before he came back.  I’ll be emailing him the questions you guys wanted to ask WE though; so I’ll update you guys at a later date in this thread when I get a reply.

Again, just want to remind you guys that the pics I took will have issues when it captures surfaces that are too bright.  So the pics aren’t perfect I’m afraid.  That said generally the airsoft stuff don’t have any bright reflecting surfaces so it shouldn’t be too bad.

I’ll try to highlight the info by breaking all the info into separate sentences so you guys can see them easier as opposed to reading through my wall of text if you just want to skim through it for the relevant information that interest you this time :P

Anyway, I went to Magpul’s booth first.   I got the chance to talk to Samuel, the Director of Magpul PTS, and he was able to answer some of the questions that I had for him, along with some of you guys’ that I collected in the last two days.  I would like to thank Samuel for his time and the information he told me that I think will contend a lot of you guys about future Magpul PTS developments :P

The ACR GBBR will be released near the end of this year.

The GBB ACR will have accessories like the AEG versions.  Some stuff will be interchangeable like the handguards but not others as GBBR need to have ATF approval so prototype is not ATF approved yet; some pins might need to be moved so that it cannot be modified with real steel parts so maybe the stock cannot be interchangeable with the AEG version.

GBBR ACR will not come as a kit for the AEG due to the ATF design issues and other issues that cannot allow the AEG receiver to be modified for KWA GBBR use.

An ERG ACR is in the works, but no release dates yet.

20130110_121842.jpg

20130110_122029.jpg

The Mega Arms AEG planned but for a future development as the upcoming releases are the priority for Magpul PTS.

The Mega Arms receiver will not be available as a standalone kit for current KSC/KWA GBBRs, and it will come with the standard MOE grip and stock only; not the K grip and the STR in the booth sample.

A Mega Arms PTW receiver may be developed.

The Mega Arms receiver is cast and CNC made, no MSRP yet.

The Mega Arms GBBR can power stroke to chamber a round because LM4 did not have a spring to automatically depress the bolt catch when pressure is released; but the Mega Arms have that in place.  As such, when the LM4’s bolt is released via power stroking the bolt lock stays locked whereas the Mega Arms will have the bolt lock released as the bolt is pulled further back during a power stroke reload.

20130110_122111.jpg

The Rainier Arms charging handle that PTS are putting out will also work in the Mega Arms GBBR.

Sorry, but I don’t have a recollection of whether I asked when the Mega Arms will be released; but I’m sure it’s within this year.  If Fiddlesticks or IBMedic are reading this and you have the release date info, please post it :P

20130110_122716.jpg

PDR price around USD 320, and the lipo used in the firing sample was a 11.1v 15C 1100mah.  Unfortunately I forgot to take a video of the PDR firing but it should be using the same battery as the ones found on Youtube right now.

The PDR should be around 350 fps for HK/US/UK/EU players unless country has restrictions on fps; like Canada, Japan, Germany, etc.

The PDR-C is the current PDR variant.  The PDR-D (IIRC) is also planned for a future release.

PDR will have a weaponlight available in the front hole; will have tape switch capabilities at the front end of the grip (the part that looks like it's detachable).  Light specs not decided yet and no release date yet.

20130110_121626.jpg

PDR will be threaded -14mm recessed into the receiver at the point where the receiver bevel starts.

20130110_121620.jpg

The ERG M4 has balanced recoil; the impulse is not entirely forwards or backwards; the whole gun just shakes.  According to Fiddlesticks the recoil is either the same or more than that of a .22 rifle.  He's fired real steel before whereas I've never fired a real steel gun, so I'm taking his word for it.

The ERG mag follower will not go all the way into the pro-win (therefore all AEG) chamber area; so if you shoved the ERG mag into normal AEG the follower will not be sheared off by the nozzle.  The length is basically the sum of 3 bb diameters.

20130110_121155.jpg

20130110_121119.jpg

20130110_121114.jpg

Also, here's a pic of the switch to change the ERG mag from 30 to 60 rounds:

20130110_121254.jpg

The ERG sample did not have fps measured; but should be firing at 400 fps or same as other current KWA AEGs.  Lipo used in the sample was 11.1v 15c.

The Iron Ridge AEG does not have a price yet as it’s too early in the development stage to have MSRP.  One of the reasons is that they just had the 7.62 Daniel Defense made by Madbull.

20130110_122649.jpg

The 7.62 Massoud AEG is planned for the future, but no release dates yet.

Next, I went to the APS booth and Derek, the Senior Sales Representative answered some of our questions regarding the APS products.  I would like to thank Derek for his time and info on the upcoming APS products as well :D

The APS Shrike M4 will be around 390 fps out of the box, completely TM compatible as their new APS gearboxes are TM-spec, and no price yet.  Should be released in late February or early March.

20130110_123335.jpg

The UAR long should be firing around 410 fps out of the box, and the barrel can be disassembled just out of the receiver; the muzzle brake is removable as well.  Below are pics of the bolt release and the square button mag release respectively that I mentioned in my first post:

20130110_123345.jpg

20130110_123411.jpg

I have the UAR firing vid but it was taken by Fiddlesticks; He’s leaving HK on a flight tonight so I’ll get the footage off him and upload it on Youtube and share it to you guys later.

The A&K booth I reported last time was basically ACMAirsoft’s booth.  They had mostly A&K and Galaxy guns on display.

The PKM AEG will be released after Chinese New Year or within 6 months before availability.

20130110_124651.jpg

20130110_124655.jpg

The A&K MP5 PTW will also be out at around the same time, along with the PTW M4.  The PTW M4 will be out first before the MP5.  The MP5 should shoot around 130 mps and should be around HKD 3,000.

20130110_125230.jpg

20130110_125244.jpg

They had two new Galaxy MP5Ks as well.  One was basically an RIS model and the other I forgot how it looked like but the booth staff told me it's a high cycle model.  Sorry, I didn't take pics because I didn't have the time to do it :(

The PTW M4 has a cast and milled receiver and the outer barrel is steel.  From what I remember the gun will fire around 133 mps.  Fiddlesticks and IBMedic noticed minor casting bubbles on the receiver.  There is no markings on the M4 PTW other than the lasered selector markings.

At the JG booth, I took pics of the M2 carbine.  It’s actually pretty hefty and not that light as you would expect from a springer.  Fiddlesticks believes they have lead weights inserted in them to have that unexpected weight.  I didn’t measure the weight myself but it’s around the same weight as an AEG.

Oh and here's a pic of the WE booth...it was kinda crowded :P

20130110_123746.jpg

So, that's all the info I managed to get in the last day of the Toy Fair.  Hopefully I didn't miss too much out and I'll be sending an email to James about the questions we had for WE, along with uploading the APS firing video (didn't get the battery specs, sorry!) as soon as I get it!
