renegadecow
New product from Tanaka, a Mauser Kar98k only it's not like the carbine you used to know. This one is spring powered featuring a detachable magazine where the real Mausers magazine should be. Prior to this people had to resort to butchering a VSR into a Marushin clone shell ejecting Kar98 just to get a reliable spring powered Mauser. It's still very expensive for what little it does (send bbs down range) but I can see how this will appeal to many WWII guys. And while the gun itself is relatively expensive, about as much as the original gas version, spare mags are a mere $24 each. http://www.tokyo-model.com.hk/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=14&products_id=10006
Isamu
Too expensive, we dont even know the comatibility and the shooting shows a compression issue... Thanks for trying Tanaka...
Jon L
$780 !!!?!?!?!? what the hell is this thing made of?
abbadon101
$780 !!!?!?!?!? what the hell is this thing made of? Unicorn poo and hens teeth. This is good though. Because while this may be hideously expensive, the china clones that come from it won't be quite so bad
bitchtits
At least being tanaka it will be a great replica. They bolt pull looks very hard/stiff for only being under 1j though.
MarsdenH
Thanks Japanese laws... 1joule for a $800 gun? So it is still cheaper to shoe-horn a VSR/APS2 completely upgraded into a marushin/real 98k.
QQexDERA
Shame really. I reckon this spring K98 will last about 4 shots before self destructing after someone shoehorns a decent size spring into that bolt.
Boba_Fett
That´s a lot of money for less than 1 joule I just ordered the G&G CO2 version. Let´s see what this baby can
TheFull9
Is it something with spring rifles that makes price suddenly directly associated to power output? Because I've not witnessed that anywhere else in airsoft. In fact quite the opposite with the VSR/Type96 and clones thereof. Honest question, it's not a scene I'm big in to. bitchtits
I think the issue is the price to the power.. Not many use a 1j bolt action rifle. So you spend all that money then have to throw a lot more in to allow it to function properly at high power. If it was that price but came ready to handle 500fps I bet many more would jump on it. wolfgeorge
I bought the gas version for $230 !!! Wolf
swatti
Ppl who buy this are stupid, have too much money or honestly believe the money is going for a good cause... Now lets wait for an ACM-clone and some upgrades. Since i live in a winter-country the gas-variant is mostly useless. That said a spring variant is very welcome. Also 98K is THE coolest bolt-lock sniper... OT: how much do the real steel scopes retail for? Any good alternative around?
docs90
Still very very nice looking , making me want another Kar98 even more
QQexDERA
OT: how much do the real steel scopes retail for? Any good alternative around? I assume you mean real-steel WW2 period scopes? You're looking at serious money for a ZF-39 or ZF-41 complete with mount.
volante
Tanaka 98k's quality is truly exclusive. But as i really love gas version's cocking feeling(which i can't find on video), i hate this one.
Tw1tch
Looks beautiful, but that much for a Springer does seem a little silly to me.
coolurjets
The power isn't a terrible thing. In the UK, at ww2 events a fighting rifle should be under 370fps anyway so you don't have to worry about minimum engagement range. Even at an open day, its a great thrill to rack up kills with any kind of spring weapon under 350.
Gigueand
For the love of God, why won't someone (looking at you, JG) just take the BAR-10 internals and build WWII-era rifle bodies around them? KAR98K, Lee Enfield, Springfield, etc. It can't be that hard and people have been asking for them for years!

KAR98K, Lee Enfield, Springfield, etc. It can't be that hard and people have been asking for them for years! A lot of people make custom rifles doing just this, commonly referred to BAR98k's. The issue is the VSR-10 internals isn't a good fit for them and they are always a bit wrong.
