hwagan
If we're including things we've learned; Learning that the Hopup is the most important thing in making a BB go somewhere in a positive fashion. Always the first (and usually last) thing I tweak on a gun.
hawaiianjuggernaut
Haha! Yes. I believe there was an old Redwolf video where Arclight said something like: "FPS is not worth a damn if your rifle isnt accurate enough to hit the side of a barn" I think it was the KTW '64 sniper rifle Too true. I cannot help but laugh at all the noobs who are like "lolz can mai ACM m4 gearbox takez a m140 springz? i needz mai FPS to be higherzzz..." Upgrade your ACM m4 hopup unit and barrel first! Phubar
I cannot help but laugh at all the noobs who are like "lolz can mai ACM m4 gearbox takez a m140 springz? i needz mai FPS to be higherzzz..." Upgrade your ACM m4 hopup unit and barrel first! And we're there right beside you laughing our guts out too. Speaking of hop units, forgot to add Big Out H nubs. Though I think that may change when I flick over to an R hop.
hwagan
I'm fine with idiots going for FPS over hop units; As long as they're not on my team, obviously.
FireKnife
Gotta love when you see people poking around on their 340-350fps clone guns thinking they are going far and accurate until you rock up with a TM AK doing stock FPS but due to the hop being set correctly and the thing flinging .25s it goes that same distance, accurately time and time again. It's like a rally car, why stick a bigger engine in when you are still running basic tyres? As for investments I have made, a set of Allen keys and one of those multi head screwdrivers, they fix almost any issue, even the push pins . 'FireKnife'
Tw1tch
I think the £30 I spent on a G&P 552 is a pretty fine investment, even if the screen has a crack it doesn't affect my sighting and well using the optic is much more convenient than iron sights with my terrible eyesight. I think my CM16 is another great buy, still going strong with next to no maintenance or upgrades. Just keeps working lol.
Mrfoss
Nice thread might come some useful tips from this. I have a JG steyr aug 80$ that has been with me since the start. It has always been my fallback weapon and never let me down. Then i have to give it up to BEAR II tactical vest. very comfortable, distributes load evenly, is quite breathable and light. TnL
my WE XDMs! yes they're WE and yes the internals are complete *suitcase* but 20 minutes with a drill, steel pins and JBweld fixed the trigger group issues, new hopup and it shoots like a charm, and the XDm itself... its just such a dream to hold, fondle and shoot, it just looks so nice, and ive never had a gun so comfortable, I used to be a hicappa fanboy, built a $1500 skirmishing pistol on a tm 5.1, had dozens of other customs over that last few years, and the XDm has pretty much usurped it for me as preferred sidearm, WE sucks, but the XDm platform rocks
hawaiianjuggernaut
You obviously never used an AS4L or Booster made LRB (sheriff LRBs are terrible untuned mass produced monstrosities) or a YE based GBBR... if so you'd know a P* is all the work of a classic without any of the fun. Adjustable ROF and trigger response time are all things modern FETs can control, so the only thing you have going for you is quick swap power settings, and even at that your range is limited by the same factors that limit a V2 AEG, you use the same hop-up mech. Don't get me wrong, they work just as well as anything else, but I don't get the rampant fanboyism they get. Even in a "condom" I've seen condensation destroy two fets, condensation happens when an object reaches a temperature high enough to cause water vapor to come out of the surrounding air, it can build up inside a protective casing. I actually decided to look it up, the P* Replacement FCUs are available on ampedairsoft for like $75 -Hawaiian
Korppi
Hmm, my best investment was/is tm mp5k pdw with systema m100 ftk + alu piston which i got used in a trade for 100e and a maruzen m870, the one with the walther red dot some 10years ago. As back in the day all it could have in it were 600mah nimh I quickly made an adapter to use a solid A4 stock in it-> large nicd. Broke the rear pin holes at one point so it got redressed on a CA clamshell metal body. Since the proper lipos came out it has been a killer with 11.1v 1200mah. No idea how many frags and bbs has it gone through other than very many with same parts still in it par switch assembly. At times I wonder how much money could had saved if I would had just sticked with this, well that's airsoft for ya. Others worth to mention... Echo on the P*. Running great with two uppers SPR and M933, fcu in buffer tube. Screwed the biggest can i could find on it and the opfors are usually clueless where they are getting popped from. (And so not taking their hits unless tapped more or run away at times..) Also playing the short upper with fast burst is quite effective and fun. KJW MEU. CO2 revived the single stacks for me. The ability to pop at least 2 magfulls per cart as fast as one can pull the trigger is critical for me. Killer in cramped cqc and a reliable backup. Combined with tm hop it is the ultimate airsoft handgun for me. Echo also on the Xcortech 3200. Absolutely essential with guns running external air. Eagle Chest Rig, SKD All-Molle Version. Stocked with mp5 mags it's my all time favorite rig for some 8years. -- As for the FCU, put silica bags with it to keep it dry.
skyler8158
Nightvision. I've had 3 sets over the years, two Gen 2 and one Gen 3, and there is honestly just nothing like it. I can recall two night games were I was the only person with NODs and it was like walking on water.
NeoVeNoM
My TM G36c bought it when they first got released, still going mighty strong! Took any upgrade, internally or externally, flawlessly. As if it was a chameleon adapting to it's surroundings. (yes, it has an army code body) My TM hicapa, or any I have or had. because it's pure genius! My TM 5-7. Believe it or not it averages around 350FPS without any major upgrades apart from a PDI barrel and piston head. Even NATO officials were amazed by it when they visited our demo booth at DOVO (Belgian military bomb specialists) Everything else from TM. And My Ares G36c blowback. why? because it still works OTB the way an AEG should work after 2 years.Never had to open it. Which surprises a lot of people here.

T3CH
Galaxy MP5k PDW best £58 I ever spent. Getting on for 5 years old now and it's only dropped 5 fps to 315fps. It sounds like a cannon in CQB and scares the out of people. Also probably the AGM (I think, definitely ACM anyway) springer M500 shotgun. £20 of fun, I can slam fire it's 15 round mags in about a second and a half, and the surprise that can cause is epic
Keket
Madbull hopup and barrel for my m4, god damn has it made a ton of difference... Camelback HAWG, water & storage, need i say more?

Shardik
Mine was a totally stock, ICS M4a1. Beautiful gun. Ran at around 320 FPS. That beast ran perfectly for over 5 years, through multiple weekenders in all sorts of horrendous conditions, FIBUA (where you guns get manky) through the snow ect. Still never skipped a beat or failed to shoot. The only work it needed was a new fuse once, and I managed to snap part of the wiring in game (front wired for PEQ) Wish I never sold it
Shardik
I'm going to add another. Specter gear universal dropleg holster. My first cordura holster ever. I've always used moulded holsters like Safariland or SERPA, this one beats them in most regards IMHO. For two years I've ran, 1911, M92f, m9 elite, Glock17, Glock19, mk23 Socom, dan Wesson 6" and a USP. All (besides Socom) with either an m3x, m6x or a laser unit, without fail. The draw (if set up right) is just as fast and fluid as any moulded holster I've tried. Though I admit the re-holstering can be a bit if a fiddle. Pistols havent been damaged and no lost mags. I wholeheartedly recommend them.
Im going space
Going to add the SHS High Speed motor that arrived today. Was £20 off ebay still sealed (guy bought it in mistake going for the HT). If hed have tested it he would have realised its torquey as hell. (~20rps @ 420fps)
Ryaw
TM MK23 SOCOM..............most fun I've ever had with any airsoft gun. Hexagon Productions PPSH-41........so simple and easy to work on, with the best range and accuracy of any AEG I've owned (including £450+ TM recoils)............Apart from the propietary tappet plate, which recently snapped after 2 years of regular abuse, rendering the whole gun useless, as I can't get a replacement part. Might need to buy another PPSH £35 Full face mesh mask (fencing style mask).........has saved my face from hundreds of BB strikes and gives the confidence to run into enemy positions without fear of losing an eye or a tooth. Probably my best airsoft purchase overall. SPOSN Gorka.....brilliant, comfy and hard wearing. Lasted me 2-3 years so far. BULLE chest rig, with Bulle mag pouches.........cheap cost, but very reliable, practical, hard wearing and comfy. Lasted me 3-4 years so far. LIPO batteries....so much better than NIMH. northernairsofter
Lipos for me as well. TM 470 round M4 mag speed loader- Half the loading nozzles snapped off from over use and it still works ! Magpul PMags- Always working in all AR's ive come across. Imax B6 charger - does what i want it to do , and more ! plus its genuine. There is a shed load of ACM fakes knocking around. Some are even sold by retailers!
