jimmiroquai
Hi all. This build was mainly inspired by the new short m14 mags by MAG (60rounds). I was bored and found a very cheap M14 for sale and i thought i'd go ahead and build a G43-alike. At first, i wanted to try to build an accurate representation of the G43, but because i didn't have the skills, tools, or space to make a wood stock from scratch (repro g43 wood stock will not be feasible as seen from previous builds and would also be practically impossible to import into my country), i just decided to build a cheap stopgap G43. This started out as a Cyma full length M14. Slightly reshaped the stock to look more G43-ish. Carved out a top handguard out of scrap wood. Cut down the receiver until i had only the magwell and barrel attachment. Next, i actually made use of the plastic M14 top handguard to make the rear sight base and the receiver. With Sintra PVC board for details. A little more work on the externals. Charging handle from a spare AGM sten shell. Cut down repro g43 front band. "main spring" made of aluminum wire. Modifying the stock: Front sight: Aaaaaand it's done: Unfortunately, i couldn't color match the plastic stock to the wooden handguard, but it still came out better than expected. Gigueand
That's truly sweet. Great work!
chas
Haha! That is awesome! IMO, you should modify the fire selector & buttplate, to totally detract from the original M14 look.

Dr.Arnie
That's is brilliant! It's done very nicely too, well one! The G43 has a soft part in my heart
jimmiroquai
Thanks! I've always wanted to build one but was waiting for someone to build an accurate representation successfully so i could copy the procedure. Unfortunately, to able to build a 100% accurate replica (AEG version) you need to build your own stock (using a repro stock with an m14 gearbox will leave very little space for the trigger and motor plus the angle of the barrel will be a bit weird) as well as have some very expensive real steel parts. So i thought i'd just go the easier route and refine it a little. Didn't turn out too bad.
Deinhardt
Looks really good, if you stuck a fake lever onto the back of the receiver it'd really look the part. Might have to save some pennies and pick myself up an m14 in the future!
