PMO Gordo
Someone brings up a good discussion point on developing a P.M.O.G. Rocket Projectile for Deepfire Rocket Shell or Madbull XM995 Rocket Shell. The first that should be considered is the weight of the projectile because of the bigger size. Based on a model of injury potentials of non-lethal weaponry, I estimated a practical Airsoft projectile cannot weigh more than 75 grams to stay within less-lethal limitations.(Lyon, 1999) I would actually recommend around 30 grams so that it hits like a BB. That being said, with the use of light weight materials, reaching the weight goal may be possible. Another consideration is the shell. Deepfire and Madbull developed the elongated specialty shells for two reasons: the rocket base needs to be hollow to keep most of the weight forward for stability, and the shell exhaust valve needs to be as close to the rocket tip to provide maximum thrust. However, this also makes the shell more expensive - $60 compared to $30 G&P Projectile Cap Shell on Evike. Another problem with the elongated shell is the increased friction between the shell and the projectile, which may reduce the efficiency of the system. For rocket-shape Airsoft projectiles, I think Milsimlab's M29 is more efficient and effective (https://www.facebook.com/MilSimLabs). M29 has be shown to be capable of reaching 200+ feet with just green gas (http://youtu.be/Ad2LbtAaK9w). The new version of M29 even has a cut-out at the tip for chalk-fillings, snaps, or paintballs. The only drawback is the extra step of loading the projectile since M29 cannot be attached to shells easily.P.M.O.G. projectiles are designed to emulate the real-steel 40mm grenades, which means they can be carried and loaded easily as shown in my earlier video: http://youtu.be/tFKYeKn1ubM?t=14s. In my opinion, P.M.O.G. is best suited for clearing out strong points in MOUT with rapid fire, while M29 for taking out vehicles at longer distance.

PMO Gordo
Many thanks to "Keeper / NepaAirsoft" for an excellent in-depth review of P.M.O.G. Airsoft / paintball 40mm Projectiles. He showed it's possible to hit a window-size target repeatedly at 60 feet if you put in consistent amount of gas in your shell. Notice that he was using the combination of S-Thunder High-Power Shell and launcher pistol, and he came up with an interesting way to load the ammunition. Also, he mentioned that green gas did not provide enough power to propel the projectile, which I believe is mainly due to the the shell he was using. The P.M.O.G. was designed to fit on G&P Projectile Cap Shell, and there's very little space between the gas port on the G&P shell and the P.M.O.G. In contrast, there's about an inch or two with S-Thunder High-Power Shell and the P.M.O.G. The empty space translates to more space to fill the air in and less propelling force. Even so, I strongly recommend using CO2 because it is more powerful and does not get affected by the cold much.Lastly, I acknowledge the problem with the sponge tip coming off with the review samples. I believe if I put on Gorilla glue instead of hot glue, it should stay in place. I'll make sure it does so for the production model.
PMO Gordo
I just sent the instructions of making my creation - P.M.O.G. Airsoft 40mm Projectiles to selected Airsoft small business owners (people whom I owe favor to). I thought about selling them myself, but U.S. business regulations forbid me from running my own business, or even getting paid without having the employer complete tons of paperwork. In any case, what I really care about is getting as many players to use P.M.O.G. at national OP this year. I will let you know as soon as they accept my proposal. Here's a video of P.M.O.G. Airsoft 40mm Projectiles promotion and proposal:

PMO Gordo
Why can't you make it yourself? Profit I mean? As I stated in the video, I can't sell them myself or get paid for making them in U.S. And I don't see the meager projected profits justifying dropping out of my PhD program and starting a company selling them. I'm more interested in being able to use them at national OPs this year before leaving U.S.
Hardcore1-6
Can you not give this project to someone that can turn it into a viable business?
hitmanNo2
Or licence them or something. It would be a shame not get anything back after the effort you have put into them. Or have you spoken with a lawyer and there really is no way?
paranoiddroid
I'm guessing it is to do with being sponsored by a company and being allowed in on a visa for the specific purpose of the PhD and not being allowed to work off campus/other than for the sponsor I admire the fact you are willing to hand the design to the community and I am really impressed with them and can't wait to get my hand on some of the practice rounds and maybe the chalk rounds. Having a real use for my launcher sigh would be incredibly cool. Being able to bunker bust and actually play a proper grenadier.
PMO Gordo
Paranoiddroid was right. I checked with my school's office of international services, and they gave me a definite no. I don't want to risk getting into trouble with the U.S. government, especially I'm this close of getting my PhD. As for licensing it to Airsoft manufacturers, I don't trust them after seeing Renegadecow getting screwed by ARES when he was trying to sell his China Lake grenade launcher design to them. I'd rather give it to some small Airsoft businesses I personally know. I'd like to thank this community for the support. It's been quite a journey - I wouldn't have thought of learning 3D-printing, molding and casting, if it had not been for this project and the great feedback I got from this community. PMO Gordo
Due to my international student status and low profit margin, I decide to make the P.M.O.G. Making Instructions open to public. Make your own P.M.O.G.! The initial material costs will be around US$ 150: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxUdsq2T7GdsSjZuZU9UYXJ5UUk&authuser=0, but the material cost for each round is about US$2 once you set everything up. As for labor time, one P.M.O.G. projectile takes about 15 minutes to make if you make a set of six in one session. The P.M.O.G. can be easily made with household and commercial products. There are three major steps in making them:1. Molding: 2. Casting: 3. Assembling: Here are some supporting documents:1. Transcripts of the making instructions: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxUdsq2T7GdsWkRpUlBOUlc0MVk&authuser=02. P.M.O.G. Making Tool and Material List (good for making 27 rounds): https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxUdsq2T7GdsSjZuZU9UYXJ5UUk&authuser=03. P.M.O.G. Making Tool and Material List (good for making 252 rounds): https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxUdsq2T7Gdscm01NTkzb1FpajQ&authuser=04. P.M.O.G. User Manual: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxUdsq2T7GdsQS1aeXVYMEFqUG8&authuser=0Here is the playlist of P.M.O.G. Projectiles including development, safety tests, and reviews: Be advised, though. As you make your own P.M.O.G. Projectiles, they might NOT be accepted by field owners or event producers due to liability. I have done quite a lot of safety testing myself and I think they are safe to use with 30 ft MED. But you shall not hold me responsible in court since I do NOT make or sell them. Safety test videos:1. Safety test 1: 2. Safety test 2: 3. Vehicle safety: Respectfully,Gordon HuangOwner of P.M.O.G.
