FireKnife
Tokyo Marui Series 70 Nickel Finish: Well with me claiming this as one of, if not, TMs best pistols I shall give you a short review and pictures to show why. Don’t expect much of this review as I am writing this during my busy work schedule. I mean come on Doom won’t play itself. Unboxing: Looks sexy and shiny right? Well there you have it, the box it comes in. It does have a rather ‘Pokemon shiny card’ look and feel to it with a good idea of what is inside (if you think it contains a snow cone machine you are an idiot): And after that we have the contents, yes I know a magazine is included and the grips are from a Night Warrior but one is sold and the other to my eyes looks better so there. And yes that is a soft felt that the gun rests upon: It is a truly amazing sight when you open it; the light glinting off it is enough to make you start dreaming of buying a purple leopard print jacket with fur lining and a white and gold low riding muscle car. Feel and all that Jazz: It looks and feels amazing. The finish feels sleek to the touch and it has a mirror finish that means you can check out how much of an ugly sod you are with each pull of the trigger: Drawing it alone is enough to dazzle and the finish extends to all external parts of the main body with the controls being a near as possible match but a bit less sparkly and mirror like: Shooting: Like any other TM, snappy. To be honest if you haven’t shot a TM 1911 go and do it, the feeling of it clacking away in your hands is lovely. Haven’t a chrono or anything to test but expect typical GBB performance. The shots easily penetrate to the same depth as my other full size 1911s: Internals: Well they look good with the trigger grouping in bare metal and the BBU and nozzle in typical dark grey. Both fit as expected and feel nice. Nothing is really out of place and it sports a typical TM hop unit so nothing different at all. Frame: Slide: Oh look it has a Hop Unit, what a surprise: Anything else: Not really, it is a nice pistol, one that begs to be kept in a case but then if you did that you couldn’t pose with it thinking you are on the set of Miami Vice, not like I do at all. Either way if you don’t have one get one, if you don’t like 1911s well then don’t get one but don’t come crying to me that TM don’t do this finish on other pistols. This pistol was bought from Mike at Elite Shooting Centre for the handsome sum of £165 + £10p&p. The first one, true to Royal Mail form didn’t show up but the replacement was sent the next day and I had no issues with getting that one. Just thought this deserved mentioning as Mike was a legend about resolving this. ED-SKaR
Are the materials the usual TM? Plastic fame and slide with metal controls?
FireKnife
Yep, nothing different in that way. It is suprising how they have managed to get it rather close with the finishes of the different parts. Sometimes you can see a much bigger difference in the finishes. Habakure
That does look pretty. Wonder how that finish is going to hold up, after a fair few skirmishes? Some wear is expected, all depends on how you treat your pistol (use it and not worry, or walk around looking for puddles to avoid).
fabio
lovely looking 1911, id be to scared to skirmish it and get it dirty
T.w.a.T.
FFS, now I want one as well, I hate you.
FireKnife
Seeing as I have 5 1911s at the moment I have other ones to use . However it might feature at some indoor games when I move away from scum-tard town here. 'FireKnife'
1st Commando
I found that it looked great behind glass but once it was close (in your hand) the finish looked tacky and the feel of the pistol screamed "cheap toy" . It shot well though which was no surprise
Inari
I found that it looked great behind glass but once it was close (in your hand) the finish looked tacky and the feel of the pistol screamed "cheap toy" . It shot well though which was no surprise It's the same with any nickel plated/chrome finish plastic guns; they look fine but ultimately are too shiny and end up just feeling like a cheap poundshop toy I have the same issue with the Marushin SAA; looks great on display, but once in your hand...*shudders*
TheFull9
When I first picked mine up out of the box I felt they'd done an excellent job. I bought it to have a ridiculously bling looking gat and that is precisely what I have. You give it a quick rub down with a cloth and then let the wife/girlfriend/partner/mother/colleague do their make-up in the side of the slide. Physics doesn't change and IMO for a plastic replica it's incredibly good. I've bought the 1911A1, MEU, Night Warrior, Series70 and one ESC custom that used entirely plastic parts; this is has been the most convincing of the lot in terms of feel and sound/action when manipulating the slide and controls. Certainly they feel very different indeed to any metal kit let alone a decent one, but then they would, there's only so much you can physically do with plastic. Just my thoughts you understand.
