spetsnazdave87
Then you'll know how ridiculous the idea of a politically correct Bond is.
Baddbaz
The same would have been said years ago if you had said his boss would be a woman ..
Inari
Joss Whedon would have bond as a quivering freck and have a hot woman, who can also beat up any man, be the hero. That's his trick, make the men morons and the women the men (as in the old sexist view that man is the only one who can save the planet and that women are to be rescued). He's a bit of a one trick pony and his range is very limited (everyone is a wise cracking comedian and women are either tough or lesbians). Have you seen Angel? Sort of the exception to all of that. You are right though, I did forget about his feminist ties so Bond would lose the chauvinism that epitomises him. I just like his writing style - the scripts have a much more entertaining vibe, as well as being much more character driven. I don't really think he's a one trick pony...you do realise that he wrote the screenplay for Toy Story, right? As far as women being either tough or lesbians, you've got Inara from Serenity who's neither. The wise cracking thing is part of the charm for me...I don't know about you, but in my group of friends we have a lot of banter, even when things are serious. So when there is a big moment in TV and film, it's nice to have someone give the audience perspective a voice. I do recognise that it's different tastes, and as you pointed out RE: feminism, it wouldn't work.
Habakure
Bit of exception to the rule with a few characters he's helped to create (remember his brother and others helped forge a lot of his work). I did enjoy the last bond movie. I liked how Bond seemed to care about his fellow colleagues (he always has, but it was more than a fleeting moment in Skyfall). So long as women arnt just for eye candy or love interest, then you can make a feminist approved Bond. Going to watch Goldeneye tonight, when it was first released I wasn't a fan (due to word of mouth). But just before it came off the cinema I went and watched it. So glad I did. I think bond is a franchise that is perfect for reinvention now and again. It can change with the times without it become stale. Just glad they didn't let/agree to Spielberg making a bond. renegadecow
I'm cool with Craig Bond. Massively cut down from the chauvinistic swagger Brosnan would portray, but it's nice to see the character not having his *rickroll* hanging out of his pants all of the time. FireKnife
In the words of Roger Moore 'Connery is the best Bond, simple as that'. To be honest Craig Bond is good and for Casino Royale was a fair bit like the ideas in the book but in a somewhat more modern world. In Skyfall, bar the fact he looked incorrect in that suit he was still pretty tough and a decent try but always Connery will be the best. Come on Bond was only given his national heritage of half Scottish, half Scandinavian after Connery was selected by Fleming himself for the role. However I have Dr.No to watch and I expect random acts of casual violence, women being 'seduced' and guns that fire a 7.65mm and yet kill in one shot, always.
