What small accessories to add to my plate carrier?

You can add various sorts of pens, carabiner to hold various items(gloves, electrical tape, chems, etc.), some type of strobe light, or a knife(real/rubber).

You could also add various patches, but don't go overboard with the patches. It seems like you already have a good amount of smaller items to add a little detail to you me kit but try not to keep your plate carrier too cluttered. That will just be annoying for you.

Erm do you actually need any of that stuff?

I mean seriously aside from clothing, load bearing base, pouches for mags, possibly a pistol and holster, a dump pouch and something to carry a bit of food and water what else do you need?

I get people carrying more stuff than me that is relevant to a game but the stuff you have put would be much more effective in the safe zone.

Technically you won't just push things through MOLLE loops - an IED or other blast will push the items you've lovingly forced into the loops into your lower jaw and/or other limbs.

Pouches are properly fixed onto plate carriers and you'll see any up to date photos from US and UK forces with little to no kit on the front of their armour.

Generally all soldiers, regardless of rank, carry a first aid kit, water, food, nav kit and detainee kit (plasticuffs/blacked out goggles)

Specialists will obviously carry extra kit, commanders pouches and crib cards, firefly beacons for ground to air comms and additional radios. If your plate carrier looks bare, you can always make room for more ammo.

You could add some cable ties.  No practical use for airsoft except for maybe hardcore milsim games when you actually take prisoners.  But hey, it looks cool on the RS guys eh.

Well, easiest way is:

Look a fruitcaging ton of pictures until you find a PC you like

Try to copy it

Use it

See what works and what not for you

Move things around to make it as comfortable to skirmish as possible

Once you are happy with how it looks and feels, use and abuse the suitcase out of it to make it look more real

BTW: a pic of your current PC could help the fashion queens inside us help you better

PS: I have had my first PC (Pantac 6094) for 7 years and I still consider it a WIP... should skirmish it a bit more

Haha, that worked so well :P.

However another question to ask is while it looks good is it practical with lots of stuff getting in the way?

I personally would not want to go grab a magazine in a tight position (now, now) and end up trying to push some scissors into my magwell or having to shift that extra light stick down to get at my pistol etc.

I think this is more for the people who like to dress up their PCs like all the photos of real soldiers who have little odds and ends tacked onto their gear.

Electrical tape zip tied to the bottom of a pouch is a good one that might actually come in useful, a lighter (preferably one of the jet flame ones) is also useful for pyros. Then you can chuck out the strike caps for extra safety.

Gameboy (any variant), seriously. For those moments when the game is stopped (ramblers or just general lost folk wondering into a game) and you have time to kill. I find playing 'double dragon' keeps you in the right mind set.

Not seen a thread in here for a long time where so many have managed to miss the word Airsoft in big letters right at the top before hitting post.  The definition of 'need' in the context of this hobby is not the same as it would be in a competitive sport, the value placed on the aesthetics may well outweigh any practical concerns at all.  How this is still not yet a well established factor for everyone I cannot understand, I'd have thought everyone's plenty accustomed to seeing a lot of guys doing SF impressions by now, often carrying kit they do not 'need' to skirmish.

The matter of what to add on for the look is might depend on the role of the unit/person that's being replicated.  If your fictional character is doing a day time op you don't need fake NODs, IR cyalumes and various strobes on your rig & helmet for example, vice versa for night time.  Airborne (be it helis or parachuting) and maritime have different considerations.  If you're swimming, going through streams and over beaches you don't need stuff dangling off you slowing you down through water and getting wrecked (medical and electronic items) and if you're jumping you just want the minimum weight physically possible with everything very thoroughly secured/strapped down and freedom for your legs ready for that heavy landing.  But for general cool-stuffz I think pretty much everything's been covered, just bear in mind what kind of guy you're trying to look like and be careful about medical kit (ACM props are fine as long as they stay purely as props).

What Chris said. The guy's clearly looking for some finishing touches for a milspec look (I'm guessing). Rather than take the ###### out a guy for his first post, we could try and help him out.

Some pics of some of my rig dressing over the past few months. I'm approaching it from a pretty stitch-counting CSOR milsim impression but I've got a fair few of the 'basics' down.

For scissors- make sure they're first aid shear types. Don't have kitchen/school types on there. I have an IFAK which I have booboo kit, mosquito repellant, paracetamol, painkillers (When my throat condition's flaring), etc. Behind that, I've lashed a set of EMT shears. They won't fall out and can't be removed to hurt anyone, but they look good on the rig.

IR cyalumes look good. They're pretty cheap off ebay. Slotting them into molle loops is perfectly fine and seen on the real guys the world over. Get the IR ones over the regular type- far more common, these guys aren't popping Es and going to a rave.

CAT- CAT tourniquets elastic banded to a rig, shoulder pad or the side of a mag pouch look good. This is something that differs from country to country I've found. Some nations/units have them in pockets, or in pouches, others just tape or elastic them to a rig. I plan to have mine horizontal across the chest of my 6094 with shock cord below my IR flag.

Zip cuffs (search ASP tri fold on ebay) are also a good addition. I have three on the back of my MAP pack, partly for looks and also as they're occasionally used at milsims. Don't overdo it- remember that each guy in a team has his own specific role, so you won't get one bloke with a shotgun, bolt cutters, slap charges, a dozen zip cuffs, flashbangs etc.

I've also had electrical tape on carabeeners, though I don't do that anymore as I never needed to use it so badly I had to have it outside of my admin pouch. A carabeener is useful though for hanging gloves/grenade pins etc.

Check out my rig pics and see what you think.
