I am one of Scorch's above mentioned "couple of guys" recoils are that good I have 3! A block 2 sopmod and a block 2 MK18 and the DEVGRU 416, and they are awesome, .25's in them they are so accurate I actually bothered to zero my sights and if I change my sights over from 1 gun to the other it needs re zeroing.  Thats before you get the range (at least 70 meters) the recoil (yes I know its not anything like a real 5.56 and not even close to a GBB but it certainly feels more "alive" than a normal AEG) the bolt stop, the real size Mags, full metal bodies etc If your looking at shelling out that much cash it'd be worth look at the recoil, my SOPMOD looks like the top pic you posted (i'm sure thats a RISII and not a MK18 RIS but I always get them confused) it would be a bit more to get a sopmod and converrt it but it can be done or a MK18 or pretty much any other M4/16 based gun.

It is indeed an RIS2 in 12.5 inch config, with the mk18 one just being an RIS2 in 9.5 inch format.

You are into recoil money for those guns, but to get the same you'll need to drop £100 on a DD rail, same again on the next gen fet as well. You obviously get additional features for your money from a recoil as others have already stated.

Is it worth it? Well three months ago I had a VFC SCAR L, PTS Masada, G&P MRP and a KWA KRISS Vector and now all of those are gone and have been replaced with two TM recoils with shiny rails and accessories bolted on so it's pretty clear where I stand. And I haven't even thought about doing any upgrades as so far it's spot on out of box. Only things I did was rewire for deans in one, and tear out the QD gubbins in the other for deans as well.

Xrayhead, if PAS is your local, there are loads of Recoil Shock shooters around, including at least two (Blobface and I) with Spectre NexGen-equipped guns. Where do you skirmish?

I have to agree with the others; G&G's guns are excellent low-to-mid-range weapons, but in the £450+ range they're outclassed by more advanced models.

[EDIT]The Recoil Shock specialist in the UK is the recently-established Black Dragon Airsoft, run by Garry Sharp who's a pretty good bloke. The words "pro-line" should be ignored; the phrases you're looking for are "Recoil Shock" and "Next-" or "New-Generation". I would say that the best Recoil Shock is the TM HK416D, but that the most cost-effective Recoil Shock (and a good choice for a new user and one who might upgrade in the future) is the SOCOM, closely followed by the SOPMOD.

I would avoid the G36 and Kalashnikov variants unless you really want one; they lack the bolt-release and stop-on-empty features that the others have. The SCARs are nice but are harder to find some upgrade parts for.[/EDIT]

Not sure what below means, can I use all the M4 mags I have but the "Bolt Catch Feature" wont work? Or dose this mean none of my M4 mags will work anyway?

Marui CQBR FLAT DARK EARTH RECOIL TYPE.
Full metal body, holds Marui 8.4 1300mAh quick change battery pack.
Uses Marui SOPMOD battery and SOPMOD type magazines 82 and 420 rnd hicap
(you cannot use normal Marui M4 magazines unless you use Freedom Art mag piece

Recoil Shock midcaps have a specific magazine design to allow them to feed all their BBs and trigger the stop-on-empty mechanism of the gearbox (which you reset using the bolt catch). You can't use normal AEG magazines unless you use an adapter (which you just push into the magwell, as far as I know) but if you're using that the stop-on-empty (and, therefore, the bolt lock) features won't work as the gun can't tell if the magazine's empty. Those limitations also apply if you use the Recoil Shock hicaps, which again can't trigger the stop-on-empty mechanism.

Personally, I would stick to the Recoil Shock midcaps. Stop-on-empty and the bolt catch are pretty useful and realistic features, and the magazines themselves are high-quality and reliable, as well as switchable between 30 (realcap) and 82rd capacity (midcap). You can also buy, if you can find them, the Recoil Shock-specific PTS PMAG midcaps, which have a 120rd capacity and will trigger the stop-on-empty mechanism much like the TM ones.

Cheers - Thanks for taking the time to explain that! Seems a bit of a pain in the *albartroth* TBO, especially as I can't then grab an M4 MAG from one of my team mates not using the TM feature. Plus I have just shelled out for two more 7.4 Lipo's and recently purchased 3 M4 Flash Mags.

I've spent a small fortune lately on Airsoft - bit of a pi$$er with the mags as I don't really care for the stop-on-empty and 120 in the Mag is minimum. I really don't want to carry 10 or so mags around with me..... The site I use at present runs a lot of back to back games (not ideal) so you have to carry a shed load of ammo, the 82rd would not work for me.

Time to re think............

Again many thanks for all the input guy's its been so helpful and really appreciate it!!

Well if you're not fussed about the bolt-lock and want to use your current mags/share with your mates, just grab the adapter (they're cheap and take 2 seconds to fit) and voila.

Err you won the lottery lately, http://eagle6.co.uk/shop/accessories/magicbox-magazine-adaptor-for-m4-hk416-recoil-shock-series.html

£12.99 EACH!!!  :fear2:
