chas
I posted this in the Project section since, if the answer to the following questions is positive, this will be a Project in a 4-5 weeks. I already have all the parts located and ready to order. I want to replicate this: http://38.media.tumblr.com/9840d669abf8b255070d69cc3480f9a3/tumblr_mh3e0hK88D1s3vx9yo1_500.jpg Ill be using a Cyma MP5, FE MP5A3 lower, G3 stock and handguard and Real Steel straight magazine. The RS gun I linked to seems to use a cut-off G3 stock. Does anyone know if the dimensions will be right on an airsoft MP5? What about the RS magazine? A lot of people have adapted real AK mags, but they don't go in all the way like MP5 or M4 mags. Any help will begreatly appreciated, as Ive been considering doing this project for the last 3 years. EDIT: Also, I am looking for a cheap (<50$), small magnification, 60's-70's looking scope. Any ideas? If I can't find anything better, Ill get one of those cheap M16 carry handle scopes (4X22) and adapt it to the claw mount using the Stargate method.
mightyjebus
for the straight mags you could use these inners: link
chas
Thanks! I was thinking on going the cheap route and simply cutting hi-capinternals up and reconnect i usinga 6mm rubber tube, like I did in my custom G3 Kurz.
DarkLite
The stock is a HK93/HK33 style stock. In airsoft terms, a CA33e full stock should fit. Modifying a real steel stock cap to fit the airsoft is likely to be a complete and utter *Ubar*, if my wood G3a3 was any indication. I'd highly recommend using an airsoft stock cap and working the wood stock to fit it.
chas
Hmmm... OK. Do you know if RS and AS G3 stock caps have the same dimensions? Because I could borrow a JG G3 sliding stock from a buddy and check if it fits (width-wise, as G3s have two pins, as aopposed to MP5s, which have only one).
DarkLite
No, they don't. The real steel end cap I got on my wood kit didn't fit - I forget how exactly, but it was either too small or too large. If you need a CA33e stock to work with, by the way, give me a shout and I'll go visit my friend at classic army.
chas
Thank's a ton, mate. I finally had all the parts together, even found the straight MP5 mags for 30 euros! This is ruining my dream, I could already feel it in my hands, after 3 years of obsessing over the project.
Skarclaw
Scope http://www.zib-militaria.de/Hensoldt-German-Army-Scope-Model-1 I'm sure a replica used to be available on wgc but I cant' find it. Modded claw mount and m16 carry handle scope your best bet I think. edit: actually this looks pretty darn close to the hensoldt: https://www.gijoesmilitarysurplus.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=871_880&products_id=8367

Maaaan.... looking for old school sights, I remembered the WEAVER QWIK-POINT !!
jv83
Someone used to make a replica of the Hensoldt sight, both Guarder and UTG used to sell it, but it is now out of production. I've been trying to get my mitts on one for an SP89 project. MGC used to make a mount that didn't use a rail but regular mount rings like the old HK mounts, still hard to source though. BTW. Love the project, where did you find straight mags in EU?
chas
Thanks for the info! Do you mind if I tell after I ordered mine?
jv83
No problem man, I'm not in a rush. OH wait I was thinking of the stupid Echo 1 SOB airsoft mags from the US! LOL, I know where to get the RS ones. Problem is I need a collectors permit to get them into Denmark, thats why I'm sticking to the ugly unrealistic airsoft version. On a sidenote have you seen the Gunsworkshop version of this type of mags? Dont know how they did it but looks good.
Rob15
Scope http://www.zib-militaria.de/Hensoldt-German-Army-Scope-Model-1 I'm sure a replica used to be available on wgc but I cant' find it. Modded claw mount and m16 carry handle scope your best bet I think. Yep, Guarder did one which I picked up years ago, I never really use it but it's very nice and the mount is extremely solid but I'm not sure they're even made anymore, Firesupport have the scope listed and mount in stock. http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/guarder-4x28-reticle-intensified-tactical-scope-rq http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/guarder-hk-claw-mount
chas
I finally decided to go ahead with this project and buy a 2nd hand Cyma MP5 RAS. Metal upper. Next I will be ordering the RS magazine, stock and handguard, to check if they even fit somehow. The stock can be adapted, the magazine could be a bite in the *albatross*. I am now considering 3 sights (real Hensoldt is out of the question, so is robably the Guarder: too expensive for a mediocre replica): - chinese 4x22 M16 carry handle style scope - real Normark Qwik-Point (really cheap, needs some hacking up to mount it on a MP5 claw mount) - real Singlepoint If anyone knows of a cheap (and working) Singlepoint, please let me know. commander bond
You also need an old school mp5 leather sling and green canvas mag pouch. I have both ... in Canada.
hotelkilo
g3 leather sling available from flektarn.co.uk for about £5 http://www.flecktarn.co.uk/asags1ux.html they're surplus so nicely worn in i use one of these on my ak, it'll outlast you
judgeman
So ok, a question on the subject of rs MP5 parts. I have acquired a set of JG externals and a metal lower of unknown origin of a MP5SD to build a very specific gun but she's missing the rear sight. Is there a reliable website out there for old, beat up MP5 RS parts? Has anyone tried fitting rs bits?
Imperator
No, they don't. The real steel end cap I got on my wood kit didn't fit - I forget how exactly, but it was either too small or too large. The real steel cap is too small. By small I mean narrower than the AS one. It won't do without cutting on the gun, which would surely compromise the resistance of the gun's body. This on the G3. Using it on an MP5, I'm not sure, but my best guess is that it's the same.
