renegadecow
While waiting for gas mags to arrive I thought I'd make a stock/holster for my KWC Mauser because the ergonomics on this thing is horrible also it's cheaper than buying a ready made one. I mean to field this as primary in WWII games as a plainclothes resistance, and while the laminate stock is out of place, will make it look a lot more appealing once stained and all. ninja master of coffee
Nice work as always! Laminated wood looks very attractive.
renegadecow
Thanks. Got a lot of filling to do though. This china stuff has a lot of gaps in it.
DeltaZero
Blimey how many C96's do you have!?
ninja master of coffee
I have a mental image of RC doing a steampunk matrix lobby scene...
judgeman
Why no one makes a proper Red 9 I will never know. There are days I am tempted to gank one of the old school HFC Mausers and do the engraving on the grips myself. Wish I had the space to do *suitcase* like this, my own workshop is more or less the kitchen table I never in my tiny *albatross* apartment.
renegadecow
Maybe because nobody's made a proper C96 yet? As for why four, I only have one Mauser, but a mate has three and I plan to make a daisy chain of holstered and stocked Mausers because it seems to have never been done before. ninja master of coffee
I'd love to see a top loading C96, probably a pain to do technically but it would be interesting and awesome. I am intrigued by the CO2 select fire one mind.
scorch
I'd love to see the .45ACP one made. Mind you, I'd love to see the .45ACP Luger done too.
paranoiddroid
Could you simply do a stick mag disguided as a set of rounds on stripper clip? With co2 in the grip?
Skarclaw
Could you simply do a stick mag disguided as a set of rounds on stripper clip? With co2 in the grip? Yup my preferred option. Long mag kinda ruins the profile of the m712. RC considered building a BASAM?
renegadecow
Personally, once I get my Tercel mags and confirm them to fit (I'm about 98% confident that they do) I'll probably buy a few more just to chop into ten rounders. I could get the Marushins instead but not at $50 each I won't. The Brazilian SMG is pretty cool but I like the classic stock better. Even if I get a 2nd M712 I'm likely to turn it into a SAI before that one.

Even if I get a 2nd M712 I'm likely to turn it into a SAI before that one. SAI? Google turned up this. I like it, a lot (though for maximum cyberpunk I'd prefer a rail running down the front and a beefier LAM like the LLM-01)
renegadecow
Nah, not that one but somewhere along those lines. Paint the barrel gold, drill holes everywhere etc.
shmook
SAI? Google turned up this. I like it, a lot (though for maximum cyberpunk I'd prefer a rail running down the front and a beefier LAM like the LLM-01) That. Is. Awesome.
ninja master of coffee
I cant say if I think that's amazing or an abomination. Perhaps both? I do like the PASAM.
BigAl
SAI? Google turned up this. I like it, a lot (though for maximum cyberpunk I'd prefer a rail running down the front and a beefier LAM like the LLM-01) Love that, started thinking about something similar after I saw Han Solo's Blaster. Thought if some US Manufacturer was to build a modern Version in say .44 or .45 Magnum it would be a great Bowling Pin or Hunting Gun. Infact when I win lottery and move to Texas I'll start the company and build it!
paranoiddroid
My stick mag idea was meant as a response to ninja's post about top feed. I like that modernised blaster but I would probably be tempted.to go for a large LAM that made the whole front end the size of the magwell if that makes sense. Make it something almost a cross between the equilibrium berretta and a lawgiver.
renegadecow
You mean something like this (except it actually being functional and not just filled in)?
Mike_West
I want at least the grip from that Cthugha Mauser. The companion piece to that one is an Ithaqua Webley, IIRC (or maybe was it S&W Schofield? Top-break revolver, that one I'm sure of).
renegadecow
Got the mounting hardware done, for one at least. I've simplified it to a backplate and bracket made of PVC. The two wood screws are what really hold the weight and instead of a lever for the lock I've turned it into a cross bolt.
DarkLite
I'm watching this with interest. My Tercel needs a stock at some point.
paranoiddroid
Wasn't there a stock for the tercel at one point? I remember a m712 or can doing the rounds with a holster stock a while back. Not to diminish RC's amazing work just wondering if how they did it was helpful or possibly inspiration. renegadecow
The ones being sold in HK are for HFC but will probably fit Tercel and KWC just the same. Mind, they have the European and Chinese versions available though the only ones I'm seeing left in stock are the Chinese ones. For my build I used this mostly as reference:http://askmisterscience.com/1896mauserbackup/stocks.htmNot going for an accurate replica myself, just something functional I can cobble together on the cheap side. edit: Got the latch hardware done. Already staining the wood, just need to paint all the fiddly bits and it's right about done.
renegadecow
And because I never claimed that patience was one of my virtues, here's the whole thing assembled and reeking of paint/varnish. I'm lucky none of it chipped when I should leave it alone to cure for a day or two. I'll take better photos in the morning.
