Airsoft Events vs Paintball (and differences)

I won't hear a bad thing said about those beta spetz AK's. At the site I used to marshal we had one of our rental ones dropped in a water filled bomb crater. After 3 months we could finally retrieve it, we plugged in a new battery and it fired! Though it certainly needed a clean inside and out! I think it's still in the rental fleet to this day! :)

Marshalling is a tricky thing, we're doing the best job we can to make sure everyone is playing fair, but we can't be everywhere at once and sometimes things can get missed if we're not made aware of them. We always say in the safety brief, if you've got a problem don't confront the player or go mad overkilling them. Give us as good a description as you can and we'll track the player in question down and either have a word or shadow them to verify that they're playing fairly.

Not trying to hate on the little ak's just trying to say the gun you've picked up an hour ago doesn't quite have the same ballistic capability as guns in COD just because they're in your sights doesnt mean they're in range or that the gnat that farted in the general flight path of the BB wont put it off shot or the 347 branches in between you and who your shooting at wont deflect the air powered projectile that weighs a 5th of a gram etc etc

This is true, while cracking little guns they're never going to go that far! If I see a rental player I'll sometimes try and get behind them (without trying to give the poor guy/gal away!) to see if they're able to hit their target at all. If they've got no chance I'll try and discreetly let them know.

A bit of gentle encouragement and friendly advice is all part of the marshal's role. :)

If all we did was say "there's your gun, there's the objective, have at it and I'll see you when you're out of ammo" we'd be no better than a paintball rental site. ;)

No we just do the second with the experienced players instead and the first sometimes is loudly and expletive ridden depending on other factors.

It often comes as a shock to some players when site staff decide to have a bit play on slower days with the hire replicas, tis even more of a shock when they get 'owned' by the hire kit they sneer at for being not as good

Ik thinking of phoning the gun shop at thw site i play, purely to learn about "softgun smithing" - he sells new 8cs and tm but hes got a workroom for upgrades and is a bit of a wizard tbh...do they just use hirexguns fresh out the box or do they maybe do some "life extension" type stuff? This place hires well maintained tm guns- theft is a problem apparantly. They ask for deposits but a lot of younger kids just give fake id. That is a total take

How about narrative based events? Ie a terrorist hunt game or even a zombie theme perhaps? They specialise in nam down here- have an awesome woodland site with bunkers sniper nests you name it...but the objectives lack imagination and are really there as standby rules IMO
