ardrummer292
Does anyone know how to remove the zippered cloth covering on the 100rd-style M249 'nutsack' mags? Specifically, the CA 1200rd autowinding version.
ardrummer292
Well, I ordered two of the CA 1200rd nutsacks from scope-and-laser on eBay. One works as advertised, while the other makes a funny sound on the auto setting after fully wound. For those interested, here's a video of the sound in question: Since one of the mags was misbehaving, I figured I may as well take it apart to figure out how the cloth cover is attached. I might even be able to fix the thing, but that remains to be seen. Rivets securing the cloth cover. I'm sure these will be a blast to remove. >_> Exploded view of all magazine components. ardrummer292
Update: I think I fixed the issue with the busted magazine. If I use the "constant on" setting to fully wind the mag, then set it on the "auto" setting, the strange noise does not occur. It appears the auto function stops the autowinding a bit too early. Annoying, but not a huge issue. For those who are curious about why I inquired about removing the cloth cover, I plan on replacing the (awful) AOR2 fabric with real issue DPM covers for my L110 build.
