Custom Kimber Stainless II (Overview, WE)

Recommended Posts

Not a review but a overview from the "mystery" gun I bought.

I saw it on CWI Airsoft and CRW Airsoft and was really curious about what this was, after a week or so my curiosity got to me and I bought it from CWI.

CWI also have another similar one, this one is in black and reads Kimber LAPD SWAT CUSTOM II instead of Stainless

I love the look of it and the Kimber Stainless II is one of my favorite 1911's.

After I recieved it today, it came in a cardboard box without any markings or manual. It came with a note that was written by CWI saying:

Product Name : WE Kimber 6mm BB Airsoft Toy

Power System : Gas Blow Back System, Airsoft Toy

BB Caliber : 6mm Plastic BB

Date of Test : 2015/11/20

Avr. Velocity : 82,9 m/s, 10 Shots, Room temperature 28C, Green Gas

I actually think it's good it is a WE gun, I already have a WE 1911 and a ton of spare parts and magazines so it was kinda bonus.

It is a lot heavier than I thought, 1,1 kg.

I don't know how much work is needed to make a custom like this but honestly, 160$ was well worth it for me.

So you probably know enough about WE's 1911 so here is some gunporn for you.

Well what can I say, it's your standard WE 1911 so with upgrades it should be pretty good. I have used this for a couple days now and it has a problem that's annoying as *suitcase*, when pulling the slide back, with or without the magazine in, the slide get stuck in the back position. you can remove the magazine, press the slide release but nothing happens. I have to wiggle the slide loose. I haven't had the time to see what the problem is yet, this happens about 50% of the time. It looks like you can pull the slide a millimeter past where it should lock in the slide release and it locks up.

After using it for the past few days, it feels like its not happening that often, but it always happen if I pull the slide hard backwards. Will look more into this when I have the time.

If it's not the hammer, it's most likely the barrel. Does the slide return to battery if you twist/pull/push the barrel when it's locked back in the "faulty" position? Or is the barrel completely loose?

The *fruitcage* hop chamber solution WE uses with a plastic nob to keep the barrel on the hop unit, is prone to break and wear.

I had a similar issue with my KJW hicapa. Took it all the way down to find the disconnecting lever had broken in half. Sheared right down the middle. Upon replacing that part, the pistol has cycled perfectly since. That's 13,000 rounds and counting.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the clowns at WE just plated a standard gun, in which case the tolerances on it may be a bit tight. It should sort it’s self out with use if this is the case, assuming of coarse it hasn’t fallen apart by then. lol

Why the hell don’t they stop messing around with dum double Glocks n the like and sort out there older guns like the 1911.  Should make em TM compatible while there at it.

Have been running a WE 4.3 Hi-cappa barrel and guide rod in a Guarder slide on a KJW KP07 frame for over a year now, no problems. I can also put that slide group on my TM Strike Master frame without any functioning problems.

Looks pretty good as well. Still hoping someone comes out with a Commander style slide group with Wilson sights.

You can try aftermarket hop chambers. WE 1911s are actually decently TM compatible.

I know parts of the frame aren't (causing proprietary mags) and the BBU on some of them are a little different, but you should be able to replace the chamber and outer barrel with something decent enough not to jam like that.
