Tommygunn
I have two projects that involve speakers and amplifiers but I have not got a clue and need to know if certain speakers match up with certain amplifiers. First project is for my FPV ground station (RC planes) and having a single open speaker installed instead of earbuds. I already have a PAM8403 (3W*2 - 5V 4Ohm) amplifier installed and I want a single speaker of about 5cm in diameter with decent volume over a good few metres. Are these types of speaker suitable: 0.5W 8Ohm 1W 8Ohm Secondly, I want to knock together a simple amp box to power a couple of speakers in my garage so I can just plug in my MP3 and get some music. The speakers I have are 60W 4Ohm but what cheapo amp should I hook them up to? Would this work? http://www.dx.com/p/aluminum-dc-ac-power-amplifier-board-blue-black-golden-6-18v-256735 Cheers, Tom. LordElpus
the important bit is the impedance, if you have a 4 Ohm amp you need 4 Ohm speakers. With the Watts, if your amp exceeds the speakers it's potentially going to sound at high volumes. Voltage only matters to the amp.
