No, Goldeneye had a number of key differences.

The resolution was lower so the hit boxes were a relatively bigger.

It had radar.

You could screen hack by looking where your friends were looking.

There were only 4 of you so the levels were less crowded.

The aim button pulled up the reticle faster.

The guns auto aimed when you got near the target.

The move was analogue but the strafe was digital and there was no aim look, you aimed where you were going.

There was no vertical aiming, there was but it was seldom used and the auto aim activation area was taller than it was wide.

If you wanted to aim up you stopped and used the shoulder button.

The doors were more responsive.

The knives could be "cocked" by holding the trigger and thrown by releasing for snappier knife throwing.

The other guys were sitting next to you so if they were being a dicy you could pull their controller out of the console or punch him in the balls.

That is my initial impression from a few minutes of play.

I seem to recall one of the button profiles was C pad for forward/back and strafe then aim using the joy stick like a mouse.  Most people didn't tend to use it though so you could dominate them pretty easily.

AR33 is the best gun and my post about the "*beep* Galore" control system that used two controllers to make the N64 the first dual analogue console has vanished.

RCP-90 if you are a noob.

PP7 silenced had the best auto-aim range.

*edit*

*beep*, really?  She was the Bond girl from Goldfinger.

You could only dual wield in the single player if:

You had finished the game and unlocked all weapons, you could select it.

You shot a dual wielding enemy.

Dual Klobb guys, Dual DD44 guys, Jaws with the dual AR33s.

I think there was a box you could shoot in the train level with an RCP90 in it that made the whole level a joke.

Loved that.

I don't think you could ever dual wield in multiplayer.

Worst case all you'd need to say is affirmative and negative.

I'm a bossy nob in GTA, usually driving and watching the radar, telling my passengers where to shoot.

They seldom get a chance to get a word in.

Other than that I am often found just pleading with my brother to stop shooting people while I am trying to lose the police.
