VLTORfan78
I was watching a video on how to put the 12" Carbine kit on and noticed the guy said that the 4 screws that hold the front end to the outer barrel are 2 different sizes but measured all four of mine with a digital caliper and their all the same. My question is did the change them recently that video was like a year old? I was just curious I didn't want to put the screws in wrong like he mentioned.
Katotaka
The four (2 each side, very close together) screws are in 2 lengths. I once got negligent and mixed up, almost crushed the hop chamber
NonEx
Size matters
VLTORfan78
Hmm on mine they look like the same size and I measureed them with a digital caliper and they were all the same size. How much longer are they?
NonEx
I mean if you measured with calipers and verified both width, height and thread pitch I think that's the end of the discussion right there Possibly they changed them to be the same to avoid confusion and damage. Katotaka
That could be the case, I don't see that 2mm(?) of length very much of help. oh, my G5 could be from the first few batches, it came with a reusable staple thingy CA glued inside lower receiver to fix the breaking issue
VLTORfan78
A little update I measured again and 2 of them were 10.06mm +/- and the other 2 were 10.15mm +/- So I just put those longer ones on the left side. I still don't know their suppose to be that close in length though. Thanks for the replies
Katotaka
That 0.09mm difference is probably burr
VLTORfan78
Oh well I put the 0.08+ screws on the left just in case lol
danr
The longer screws are meant to go in the front set of holes. If you really crank the longer screws into the rear holes, you can damage the hop up chamber. Although, I thought that mine had a larger difference between short and long. Katotaka
The difference id probably 2mm or more IIRC, but I think the short ones have enough threads to secure that part...... so they gave you all short ones
VLTORfan78
Yeah that's what I figured and I don't tighen them down to tight anyways.
