James Kelly
Refinished the wood after the grain exploded when playing in the rain. I started out with one coat of mixed finishes, walnut and cherry, and then added two coats of shellac. I've finally got all the internal parts that I need for the upgrading as well. The parts list is pretty long, but suffice to say, the Marui gearbox is coming out entirely intact, and a new, almost entirely Guarder gearbox is being put in it's place, along with a PDI 170%. The new box is almost completely assembled, I just need to have the selector plate, air nozzle and trigger replaced with G3 versions, as the gearbox was originally intended for an M16. The compression is excellent, so I'm expecting something in the neighborhood of 420 with .2's.
Renagade
James, you realize that your stock looks like it has a face on it right? Also, the wood looks excellent, good job.
James Kelly
Never noticed that before, but it's pretty apparent now. So apparent in fact, that I'll never be able to look at that stock again without thinking about the face. Thanks. @Taurus- I'm really liking how the Aimpoint works with the G3 and mount. Looks very fitting.
Marginal
Allright, here's mine : TM G3/SG-1 based CA metal body G&P RIS handguard KA KFH flash hider Deep Fire rail covers KA ribbed low-cap mags KA pistol grip G&G MSG90 stock (2007 version) Guarder top rail Internally, it's a mix of Prometheus, HurricanE, Deep Fire and Guarder parts. It was initially a 400fps RWA internal upgrade. Just swapped some parts with the ones of my choice. I have yet to receive the propper Prometheus spring guide so I can transfer all of this into a Deep Fire gearbox.
matthewryan2k
i lost interest in this due to buying loads of guns and doing them up. but its got the psg1 stock attached with a large 3300 battery running through it. other things i wanted to do included adding either a MSG90 front end (discontinued) or RIS, and a medium silencer instead of the visible outer barrel (only if i got the RIS version though. used to have a cmag on so i could say it was a support weapon but like most c-mags it only lasted a day and a halfs worth of skirmishing
Marginal
used to have a cmag on so i could say it was a support weapon but like most c-mags it only lasted a day and a halfs worth of skirmishing Agreed. I have one as well, it's the Hero Arms one. I hate having to push the trigger of the gun and, at the same time, holding down the button of the c-mag permanently to wind it and keep feeding the gun. If you don't do that, you can fire about 20 rounds and you have to wind the c-mag again. Pretty boring. Nice looks of your G3 btw.
zard
I've just got a JG G3A3 (yet to use it to it's full extent, so please don't as my opinion of it, just yet). So for you purists: And for those of you that hate seeing stock stuff, I present you with what will no doubt be called an abomination: It's a Hammerfish with a PSG-1 stock, in case you couldn't tell. And because it's got a sniper grip on it... Go on, let me know how much of a heathen I am.
Shriven
Minus the scope and that'd look awesome. Prefer the G3A3 though
Kingmob3
That looks more like the A3 sliding stock to me... KM
zard
Minus the scope and that'd look awesome. Prefer the G3A3 though Err, yeah, sliding stock. What I meant is it's got a PSG-1 grip, not stock. Although, if I could get a sliding PSG-1 tactical stock...
k30dxedle
Go on, let me know how much of a heathen I am. Naaaanahnahnah...you're looking for the AK picture thread, over off that (points) way. Not an enormous fan of the chopped thing, but it's not bad. And I do quite like that A3.

chaoslord800
I've just got a JG G3A3 (yet to use it to it's full extent, so please don't as my opinion of it, just yet). . How solid is the JG G3A3? Is it fairly creaky or is it fairly solid feeling?
olaman
I'd say it's less creaky than a TM, lots more creaky than a CA. Oh, and I've got some pics inbound here, perhaps later today. Just finished a new AG3F2.

olaman
Ok! So, two G3s, one 349 fps, the other 450. Both based on Classic Armys, one with G&G RIS, the other with a CA, both modified to RS slither stocks (took forever to mod:P), guarder mount on one, mount on it's way for the other, both have selfadhesive griptape on the grips, and both are, as you see, painted in desert camo. So what do you think?
AnotherJesus
I think, they are both gorgeous. Great work on modding the stocks.

olaman
Well. . . They grow on the slither stock tree, and slitherstocktrees are, as you know, quite rare, and only produce a few slitherstocks during a lifetime, so anyone who know of a slitherstocktree probably will never tell where their tree grows.. I got mine from somewehere I can't tell, and the other one I got from someone who couldn't tell where he got his from.. Rare thing, these RS slither stocks.. But the RS stock is incredibly much better than the ASversion. If you know of a place to get one, buy it. Don't even hesitate. Edited June 5, 2008 by olaman
