chris u'5
Hello Guys, I was just wondering if any of you know the purpose of this; http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/guarder-serial-number-tag-block-for-marui-kj-g-series-gbb.html#.WehpaITR-M8 The reason that I ask is I recently purchased the Guarder Glock Gen 2 frame for my TM Glock 17 which comes with a small serial number plate to replace the original large TM safety serial number plate; http://www.intrudershop.com/show_product_eng.asp?idproduct=2990#top However during the installation I noticed the takedown lever is now very loose in the frame. I was a wee bit pushed for time so couldn't really mess about with it much but I noticed this serial number tag block on the Guarder website and started to think perhaps I now need this piece in order for the takedown lever to sit correctly in the frame?? Or perhaps there is another reason the takedown lever is so loose?? I'd really appreciate any help you can give as this is the first time in a long time I've upgraded an airsoft pistol and my skills are very rusty!
NonEx
Don't think it has anything to do with the loose takedown lever. Perhaps your takedown lever spring is compressed to much before installation and not providing enough tension on the takedown lever? For use of the serial number plate blocker, see here: http://youtu.be/xxJ2e70D6w8?t=1600 (around 26 minute marker) It's basically to put pressure on and secure the serial number plate in place as without it it tends to either rattle or not stay flush with the outside bottom of the frame. Same pictures here as on eHobbyAsia but show it you install it in the frame on top of the serial number plate: http://www.intrudershop.com.tw/show_product_eng.asp?idproduct=2876#top
chris u'5
Thank you very much for taking the time to get back to me and for the link, it is much appreciated. I'll have another look tonight and let you know what happens. Edit. Thinking about it again perhaps the purpose of the block is to add weight to the gun as you have to remove the original TM safety plate in order to install the Gen 2 slide? There is a wee bit of weight in the original plate. I'll watch the video tonight, maybe the purpose is mentioned. Thanks again.
NonEx
No. The plate blocker weighs 2 grams and is polymer. It is as I said to secure and keep the serial number flush with the frame.
Wingman
On my builds, the take down lever was loose because when you take out the old "serial number/safety plate (that was a bit thicker)" the new serial number and plate blocker are thinner and the leaf like spring that puts pressure on the take down lever, doesnt exert enough pressure on the bottom of the take down lever. I just "very very very carefully" spread that spring a bit and it took care of the loose lever.
NonEx
Can't recall I had that issue with my build but I dunno. But try bending the spring a bit so it puts more pressure on the takedown lever and it should be OK. ^^^
chris u'5
Thank you guys. I bent the spring up slightly and it has more or less fixed the problem, it isn't prefect but definitely better. I had a look at the same part in a newer Glock I have and that part is sitting much higher, I might try and remove it completely and re-shape it.
k.a
You don't need the that part for Gen 2 frame mate : http://www.intrudershop.com/show_product_eng.asp?idproduct=3003#top and yes taking the spring out and spreading upwards will fix the problem loose take down lever. BTW nice to see you back here bud : ), PM inbound for something completely unrelated.
