Thomme
i dont think they had gun mounted m203's in vietnam.....werent they still on m79's <{POST_SNAPBACK}> the 203 was adapted for use in 1970 and phased out the M79, there were a few M203's in use, but not a ton. The M79 was still used.
Marshmallow Monster
I believe there were prototypes in 'Nam, but only a few were built, so no, not many M203's would have been around in 'Nam. And they weren't the heatshield version either, they were odd looking, like a cardboard tube on the bottom of the forgrip lol.

It did use a "pipe" shaped heat shield over M16's. You also see them on XM177's but using the standard hand guard but w/o the lower half. Aparently the XM-148 was a piece of junk...I have never seen or used one in person.
Catchv22
They had a few M203s in late Vietnam. Â The XM148s that came earlier were very unreliable and often had their triggers broken because it was just a long piece of metal wire. Â I think the M16A1s look fine with the M203. GRIMES
Yes, I'm sure it will work, and G&P now makes their own heatshields comes in OD too Black OD Â Edit: You might need a bigger front grip ring...but I'm not sure because I had a TM one and it was too small >.< Edited August 10, 2005 by GRIMES
