Homemade Cord Detonated Booby Trap?

Hi all, I’ve got a bunch of 8mm blanks that are too short for my blank firing pistol, so wanted to find another use for these and make a new bit of kit from it.

 

My thoughts are to use my failed BFG adapter as the blank housing, with an electrical corded detonator on a battery and push button switch. But I’m a little unclear one. Couple of details:

 

1. Does the electrical shock need to be applied directly to the primer, or can the current be passed on the outside of the casing, to the primer?

 

2. How many volts is required to set it off? Would a 7.4v lipo do the job?
